Olympics Rules & Schedule

Rules:
-The Olympics will be held every four years. Qualifying will consist of the teams being drawn out based on ranking (i.e. teams ranked 1-2 will be the #1 seed in the group, 3-4 will be #2, 5-6 will be #3, etc.). There will be two groups of six teams for qualifying with the top three in each qualifying for the Olympics.

-The Olympics will consist of 6 teams put into a single group and playing each other twice. The top 4 advance to the semifinals, while teams 5 and 6 will play with the 5th Place Game. The two losers of the semis will play the 3rd Place Game, while the winners will battle for 1st Place.

Schedule: (based on four year international cycle)
Year Three: Two qualifying matches after 35 games in the SHL season. Six qualifying matches following the conclusion of the playoffs.

Year Four: Two qualifying matches after 10 games in the SHL season. The Olympics will then be contested following the end of the SHL playoffs.


For this current cycle, Year Three is S22 and Year Four is S23.
