Welcome to the SMJHL Post-Game show with David Benson! We have four games to recap today and they were good ones! Let's get started!
Game #30: Detroit Falcons vs St. Louis Scarecrows Coming in this seemed like a lopsided affair looking at the standings and the outcome was high-scoring. Chris Johnson and Bjorn Knutsen open the scoring for the Falcons just 1:31 into the first period to give them a 2-0 lead. Smirnov would cut in half for the Scarecrows before the end of the first. The second period was ALL Detroit. Led by a Nils Wahlstrom hat-trick, the Falcons score five in the period and hold a walloping 7-1 lead. The Scarecrows would not bow down though, third period would see Linkos, Bursyuk and Collins all score on just 6 shots to trim the lead to 7-4 but it wasn't enough. Tough game for Demko who allowed four goals on just eleven shots. 7 4 Code: 3 Stars Game #31: :impact: Montreal Impact vs Regina Force :force: This game would get interesting halfway through the first after Juris Bezzobis takes a major and is ejected after an abuse of the official call. A minute later Connor O'Reilly goes off for tripping as well and Regina is two-men short for a full two minutes. Kayl Kuzie takes a pass from Chien and buries it for his third of the season and Montreal leads 1-0. That would be all until the second, when Conn Thomson would score TWICE in 16 seconds to give the Impact a commanding 3-0 lead. Steven Esposito would take exception to that a few minutes later and cut it to a 3-1 deficit. Teams would trade goals to end the period at 4-2. After a slashing call on Cartman, Regina heads to the PP and Brandon Pomery makes it count and we have a tight game at 4-3. Oferyn Martell would bury home a rebound at the halway mark and the Impact would not look back and coast to a 5-3 win over the Force. :impact: 5 :force: 3 Code: 3 Stars |
