I disagree. It should be up to the individual what they'd like to have as their avatar, as long as it's not offensive. If you don't want to see it, then the onus is on you to prevent yourself from seeing it (turning them off). Yes, it is something you should have to do if you don't want to see them. Otherwise you're just forcing your opinions (the opinion that you personally don't want them) onto others.
