SHL Media Announcement

Hey guys, so in case you don't know, I was hired as the new SHL Media Director last week. Anyways, the media team has decided on a few minor changes that we think should help make the grading process a bit easier and help ensure visibility of articles and help reward those who submit quality articles.

Say goodbye to the Press Conference and Rumor Mill Subforums, all media to be posted in the main forum!

The Rumor Mill subforum doesn't get any use to begin with and half the time, press conferences are posted in the general media section. In order to streamline everything, press conferences will now be considered regular articles (a bit more elaboration on this further down). In addition, the Podcasts subforum will now be called Podcast Questions and will only be for collecting questions. All podcasts should now be posted in the main forum. In addition, the Scouting Reports subforum will only be for sign-ups. All scouting reports posted for a grade are to be put into the main SHL Media forum.

All press conference answers must be in the first post

Let's be honest. It's a pain in the ass to go through an entire thread to count up the number of questions answered and to give a grade based on that number. It also shows a lack of effort on the part of the interviewee and is also in a format that discourages anyone from actually reading the presser. So, all answers, and questions if you'd like to include them, should go into the first post. Not following this format will likely result in your article simply not being graded.

Renewed focus on bonuses for high quality media

While there has been a bonus for high quality media in place for a while now, we will be putting extra effort into making sure that those who do put the time in to produce this type of media are rewarded. Now you may be asking how high quality is determined? While this is ultimately up to the graders' discretion, a high quality media is one that takes a critical look into the league. It could be an article that involves the entire SHL, an article that is team-specific or pertains to just a few teams, or can even be a quality podcast. These are the types of media that actually encourage discussion so it's never a bad thing to see more of this!

So, there you have it! No major changes - just a few things to make life a little easier on graders and, as a result, media submitters. You will see these changes in subforums occurring within the next few days but the new rule that all media to be graded must be posted in the main forum is effective immediately.

Bumping this because some people apparently never read it.

YOU MUST EDIT ALL YOUR PRESS CONFERENCE ANSWERS INTO THE FIRST POST

We're not going to hunt through your seven page press conference to find your answers to all of your questions. If you can't be bothered to edit your answers into your first post, we can't be bothered to grade them.

That's a harsh way to put it, but it's what's going to happen. If you don't put your press conference answers into the first post, you're not going to be getting money for it.

ALL MEDIA MUST BE POSTED IN THE MAIN SECTION

This is one that most people seem to have caught, but there's still a few people ignoring this. We're trying to get HO to close the extra sections of the forum, as those should not be used anymore (with the exception of the podcasts section which is to be used for podcast questions).

Hopefully the extra sections will be gone soon to help reduce the confusion, but until then, even though they're there you should not be using them.
