A different kind of survey

In light of the events of today and the past, and after a few conversations with different people on and off the site, I believe that as a community one of our focuses should be on the health of our members.
Mental illness is very prevalent in the world today, as approximately 20-25% of North Americans suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. This is kinda scary and sad, especially given the fact that there is still huge silence and stigma about mental health issues in our society today. I want to break the silence, so I created a quick SurveyMonkey about this. Shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes to fill out, and it is completely anonymous. I want to know where the league's health is at, so that we can figure out how to offer help to those that need it. I know for myself, one of the main reasons that I joined the SHL in the first place a year and a half ago was because I had depression and could barely get out of bed, and it was something to do that brought me together with other people. Here is the link. Please don't be dicks about this, it's a serious issue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RESOURCES 1-800-273-TALK (8255) - National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (USA and Canada) International list of suicide crisis lines - Note: even if you are not suicidal, if you feel like you're in a crisis of any kind, call anyways. For those of you who might be suffering from some of these issues: I'm in no way a substitute for professional help, but my inbox is always open if you need to vent or if you need to discuss anything going on with you. Sometimes it helps to know someone is there to listen, and even if that's all I can do, I'm here for you.

This is kind of dickish, but if you are relying on people in an anonymous internet forum to gauge your mental health, well then ...

Anyone questioning the mental health of the members around here need only read Syckez's latest media article. It will confirm the disturbing state of things to even the most optimistic of our membership.

It's the single highest cause of disability in the US, and yet we spend very little money to help treat it or even to educate people on the realities of it. I'm gonna ask all of you: Please leave jokes out of this thread. Make them around the rest of the forum if you must, but give us this moment to seriously discuss an issue that literally kills people on a regular basis. ![]() ![]() Registered S15, S16, S24, S34, S38 Challenge Cup Champion
Having a sense of humor about the absurdity of the world is a step to better mental health
