Eyebrow This point.... is valid.
Of course, I'm no doctor nor do I claim to be one. But like Falkirk said, chances are you'd have an idea.

This is also why I included questions about self-esteem, how life is going and suicide consideration, as those answers reveal just as much if not more than ticking a box with a diagnosis.

Some people probably are

Then the data that will result will be skewed because there will be the professionally diagnosed and the ones that think they have that diagnosis, which are pretty much two different things.

If then, what would be the purpose of the survey.

Right, but just like WebMD some people read into things and assume the worst without actually knowing what's what.

Im pretty sure this survey is not going to be used in a journal article. So the purpose isn't about 99% accuracy. Pretty sure its to start a dialogue on SHL.

Just because one option is better doesn't mean that it isn't good to spread awareness

Whether or not he was being sarcastic it is an interesting question. Do people need the face to face or do they prefer anonymous support?

Personally not a fan of face to face, and prefer anonymous support. Switched therapists three times before deciding it wasn't for me.

It probably depends person to person. Venting about certain problems - especially given the theme that surrounds these problems, as Tanner mentioned before - can be easier when you don't have to see an actual person. People might be more inclined to be more open since there's no risk of being personalized or found out.

The human brain is an interesting thing, what works for one person may really not be helpful to the next. Personally, I find face to face, or at least hearing voice a lot more beneficial, but just getting something off my chest to somebody offline or online is better than holding it inside.

I haven't seen a therapist since I was a child but if you find the right person then it's easy to open up to them.

Though I like that you're raising awareness Schmidt, if someone is actually mentally ill, they shouldn't be telling a forum of random people. You should be linking things where they can reach out for actual professional help.

I like to work through most issues by myself but it certainly helps having someone who's been there talk things through with you.
