The Firebirds got off to a strong start in Period 1, one that would carry throughout the whole game. Tyler Guest scored nine minutes in, and was later followed by Luke Fleming, who tallied his ninth of the year. The Scarecrows would answer back soon after, though, with John Wick cutting the lead to one off a slick pass from Ben Troy.

2nd period

Period 2 was a penalty fest, with six players heading to the sin bin. Four Scarecrows went to the box, allowing the Firebirds to convert late in the period. Dean Banger scored only his third goal of the season coming off Ryan King’s slashing minor. The score was 3-1 PGF at the end of the frame.

3rd period

Another powerplay goal for the Firebirds, plus one even strength goal cancelled out any St Louis efforts to come back. The Firebirds would hold on to win 5-2 behind an offensive spark, and a marvelous game in net from Julius Sylvia. The Firebirds would look to keep this going in future games.

Sam Pellegrino scored 59 seconds into the first period, but it would be all for naught. Thomas Muller netted his first goal of the season for Colorado three minutes later, tying the game right up. The Mammoths would then score again before the end of the period, leading 2-1 at intermission.

Detroit Falcons’ star John Langabeer did his best to take the game under his control, scoring early in the second to tie the game back up. But it was two William Fedorov penalties which proved costly for the Falcons. The Mammoths took advantage of both fouls, with Tony Pellegrino trying to one up his opposing brother by scoring a goal to put his team back in front. Alex Wolf had two points in the period.
