Game 31 – Prince George ![]() After facing off in the previous game in Prince George, the two teams head to Montreal for the good old home and home series. Prince George came out firing on offense with 11 shots on goal in the first period, but could not get any by the Impact goalie. They also played great defense by only allowing 2 shots on goal to the Impact offense as they did not score either. Both teams had two penalties called against them in the first period. Fleming got the Firebirds on the board just 70 seconds into the second period with his 12th of the season and was on the power play. However, the Impact would answer just over three minutes later with their own power play goal to tie the game at 1 to 1. The goal was scored by Doughty, his 2nd of the season. Neither team would score in the rest of the period and the game went into the third period tied at 1 to 1. Montreal outshot Prince George 9 to 5. Holmberg scored his 4th of the season just over eight minutes into the third period to give Montreal a 2 to 1 lead. Montreal would limit Prince George to only 6 shots in the period and held them off of the scoreboard as they added a late empty net goal by Rowe, his 6th, to win the game 3 to 1 over the Firebirds. Montreal had 9 shots on goal in the third and 20 for the game compared to 22 for Prince George. Andersson made 21 saves for his 16th win of the season. The Firebirds were 1 for 5 on the power play while the Impact was 1 for 6. Vader was scoreless in 19 minutes on the ice with 2 hits and 1 shot block. Holmberg and Mack each had two points in the win. Game 32 – Kelowna ![]() Montreal stayed at home for their next game which was against Kelowna and turned out to be a high scoring affair. The Impact took a 1 to 0 lead just 38 seconds into the first period as Johnson netted his 7th, but the Knights would counter with two goals of their own as Youngblood and Flow scored to give Kelowna a 2 to 1 lead before the period was halfway over. The teams would exchange goals just 8 seconds apart as Karpotsov would tie the game on the power play for the Impact with his 10th, but Bartok answered with his 6th to give the Knights a 3 to 2 lead after one period. The Knights outshot the Impact 13 to 11. Only one goal was scored in the second period as Zunino Jr put the Knights up by two goals, 4 to 2, with just 70 seconds left in the period. Montreal outshot the Knights 14 to 11 in the period. Kelowna went up 5 to 2 just over five minutes into the third period on Bartok’s second goal of the game, but with just over a minute left in the game, the Impact scored two goals in 10 seconds to close the gap to 5 to 4. Rowe netted his 7th while Gerrard scored his 16th. However, the Impact could not get the tying goal while the Knights added an empty netter to win the game 6 to 4. The Knights outshot the Impact 10 to 8 in the third and 34 to 33 in the game. Andersson took the loss in goal as his record fell to 16-9-3 on the season. Vader was pointless in the game with two penalty minutes and one shot block in nearly 18 minutes of action. Game 33 – Montreal :impact: at Colorado ![]() Montreal took back to the road looking to get back into the win column in Colorado. The teams exchanged one goal each in the first period as Montreal scored just over four minutes into the game as Holmberg scored his 5th of the season, while Chips scored late in the period on the power play for the Mammoths with his 8th to tie the game at 1 to 1. Both teams had 11 shots on goal in the period. Montreal had 3 penalties in the period while Colorado had 2. Montreal outshot Colorado 12 to 4 in the second period and outscored them 2 to 1 as Hamalainen netted his 4th and Burch scored his 15th. In between the two Montreal goals, Wolff got his 5th for the Mammoths. Each team had one penalty called against them in the period. Just over two minutes into the third period, Buckner scored his 8th for Colorado to tie the game at 3 to 3. Montreal would receive a late power play chance and Holmberg would get his second of the game and the game winning goal to give the Impact a 4 to 3 road win. Montreal outshot Colorado 9 to 8 in the third and 32 to 23 for the game. Andersson was big in goal again for the Impact as he made 20 saves to pick up his 17th win of the season. Vader did not make an impact on the scoresheet, but threw his body around to the tune of 5 hits and 2 shot blocks in 19 minutes. Game 34 – St Louis ![]() The Impact returned home to face the last place Scarecrows in a game that would go the shootout to determine the winner. Montreal outshot the Scarecrows in the first period 12 to 5 but neither team was able to score even though both teams had chances on the power play. Grundmanis and Cahill fought to a draw just over two minutes into the period. All of the scoring in the game was done in the second period as Mack gave the Impact a 1 to 0 lead just under three minutes into the period while the Scarecrows tied it on the power play about ten minutes later as King netted his 12th. St Louis outshot the Impact 6 to 5 in the period. Neither team would score in the third period or the overtime frame in which St Louis outshot Montreal 8 to 3, but the Impact got the better total in the game 20 to 19. The second shooters for both teams were the only players to score through the first three and the fourth and fifth shooters didn’t score either. Andersson stopped St Louis’ sixth shooter while Siverwing buried the puck behind the goalie to give the Impact a 2 to 1 shootout win. Andersson made 18 saves in picking up his 18th win of the season. Vader only had one hit in the game and played nearly 22 minutes due to the overtime period. He was also even. Game 35 – Montreal :impact: at Detroit ![]() Winners of two straight, Montreal faced off against another divisional opponent in the Falcons. The teams would exchange goals just over three minutes into the game as Schmidt gave the Falcons a 1 to 0 lead with his 2nd while Yakimov netted his 5th for the Impact. Late in the period, Monesti would score his 15th to give the Falcons a 2 to 1 lead after the first period. Montreal outshot the Falcons 12 to 7 in the period. Even though both teams had multiple power play chances in the second period, neither team would score as the Falcons held onto their one goal lead going into the third period. Detroit outshot the Impact 8 to 7. Montreal would tie the score at 2 to 2 just over four minutes into the third period on Falk’s 12th of the season and would score the game winning goal on the power play with just less than ten minutes left in the game as Grundmanis’ shot found the back of the net for his 7th goal as the Impact won on the road 3 to 2 over Detroit. Montreal outshot Detroit 14 to 11 in the period and 33 to 26 for the game. Andersson won his 19th game of the season by making 24 saves and keeping the Falcons off of the scoreboard in the second and third periods. Montreal went 1 for 7 on the power play while the Falcons were 0 for 3. Vader had an assist on the game tying goal and was also a +1.
