Game 36 – Kelowna Knights at Montreal :impact:

Montreal comes into this game with a three game winning streak against a team that they have struggled against for most of their games against. Neither team was able to score in the first period as Kelowna outshot Montreal 10 to 9 in the period and the Knights had the only power play chance as well as Grundmanis took a hooking minor for the Impact.

The Knights took a 1 to 0 lead about halfway through the second period as Flow scored his 17th, but Gerrard tied the score for the Impact with his 17th as well late in the period. However, the Knights would get a power play chance after the Impact goal and they would cash in with Makinen’s 16th to take a 2 to 1 lead into the final period. The Knights outshot the Impact 9 to 6 in the period.

The Knights would take a two goal lead at 23 to 1 on LeBlanc’s 2nd of the season just over two and a half minutes into the third period. Montreal would pull to within one goal with less than four minutes left in the game as Gerrard scored his second of the game and 18th overall. However, the Impact could not score again as the Knights ended the Impact’s three game winning streak by a score of 3 to 2. Kelowna outshot the Impact 7 to 5 in the period and 26 to 20 for the game.

Andersson took the loss in goal as his record is now 19-10-3 on the season. The Knights were 1 for 3 on the power play while the Impact did not score on two chances. Vader had an assist in the game and was even defensively. He had one shot and two shot blocks in 19 minutes on the ice.

Game 37 – Montreal :impact: at Prince George Firebirds

The Firebirds took a 1 to 0 lead with less than six minutes left in the period as Fleming scored his 15th of the season, but just two minutes later, Gerrard would net his 19th to tie the game at 1 to 1 heading into the second period. Prince George outshot the Impact 10 to 9 in the period. The Firebirds took two penalties in the period while the Impact took one.

Prince George dominated the second period of the game as they outshot the Impact 11 to 8 and outscored them 3 to 0 to take a 4 to 1 lead after two periods. Fleming would score the first two goals for the Firebirds to complete the hat trick and Stanley added his 15th to close out the scoring in the period and it was also a shorthanded goal.

Montreal would score the only goal of the third period to make the final score 4 to 2 in favor of the Firebirds. The Impact goal was scored by Karpotsov, his 11th of the season as the Impact dropped their second straight game in a row. Montreal outshot Prince George 14 to 6 in the period and 31 to 27 for the game.

Andersson took the loss in goal as he gave up 4 goals on 16 shots. Lewis-Flood came on in relief and stopped all 11 shots he faced. Andersson is now 19-11-3 on the season. Neither team scored on the power play as the Impact were 0 for 6 and the Firebirds were 0 for 8, but did score a shorthanded goal. Vader had an assist in the game and was a +1 in 17 minutes. He also had one shot and two penalty minutes.

Game 38 – Halifax raiders at Montreal :impact:

Huge matchup between the top two teams in the conference with the Impact riding a two game losing streak. The Raiders took a 1 to 0 lead about halfway through the first period when Mikita scored his 13th of the season as the Raiders were on the power play for a 1 to 0 lead. However, the Impact would answer with three goals in a two minute span late in the period to take a 3 to 1 lead after the first period. Karpotsov scored two of the goals – his 12th and 13th of the season and Burch added his 16th as both teams had 9 shots on goal in the period.

Montreal would score the only goal of the second period as Johnson netted his 8th of the season with just under four minutes left in the period to put the Impact up 4 to 1 after two periods. Montreal outshot the Raiders 10 to 6 even though the Raiders had the only power play chance of the period.

Montreal would increase their lead to 6 to 1 early in the third period as Gerrard scored his 20th and Holmberg added a power play goal, his 7th goal of the season. Lizben and Sorensen would score for the Raiders including Sorensen’s being a power play goal, but the Impact won the game 6 to 3 and outshot the Raiders 29 to 26 in the game.

Andersson made 23 saves in picking up his 20th win of the season. Halifax was 2 for 6 on the power play while the Impact were 1 for 5. Vader did not have a point in the game but was a +2 in just over 20 minutes on the ice. He also registered two hits and two shot blocks in the win.

Game 39 – Montreal :impact: at Prince George Firebirds

Looking to keep their winning way going, the Impact traveled to Prince George to face off against the Firebirds and within the first 28 seconds of the game, the Impact took a 2 to 0 lead as Gerrard scored his 21st and Johnson netted his 9th. Montreal would increase their lead to 3 to 0 with just over five minutes left in the period as Doughty scored a power play goal. It was his third goal of the season. However, the Firebirds would not give up easily as they scored two goals just 15 seconds apart late in the period to cut the Impact lead to just 3 to 2. Stanley got one of the goals and it was also a power play goal. Montreal outshot the Firebirds 13 to 8.

Neither team scored in the second period as the Impact had 11 shots on goal compared to just 4 for Prince George and Montreal outshot them in the third period 7 to 5 while scoring the last goal of the game as Yakimov netted his 6th to give Montreal a 4 to 2 win. Montreal had 31 shots on goal for the game while Prince George had 17.

Andersson made 15 saves in the game to pick up his 21st win of the season. Both teams scored one power play goal as Montreal was 1 for 5 and Prince George was 1 for 4. Vader’s only stat on the scoresheet in 19 minutes of playing time was a +1 for the game.

Game 40 – Kelowna Knights at Montreal :impact:

The Knights received an early power play chance and they would cash in just 35 seconds into the game to take a 1 to 0 lead on Oduya’s 13th of the season. Montreal would score their own power play goal late in the period as Karpotsov scored his 14th to tie the game at 1 to 1. The Knights outshot the Impact 7 to 4 in the period.

Just under five minutes into the second period, Chamas put the Knights up 2 to 1 with his 11th and then with less than a minute left in the period, Laaksonen scored a power play goal to put Kelowna up 3 to 1 going into the third period. It was his 7th goal of the season and the Knights outshot the Impact 10 to 4 in the second period.

Montreal came out in the third period firing shots and limiting the chances Kelowna got at the other end and would score the only two goals of the third period to tie the game and send it into overtime. McDonald netted his 3rd of the season to cut the lead to one and then with seven minutes left, Karpotsov scored his second of the game to tie it. Kelowna had the only shot in overtime, but did not score as the game went into a shootout. The Knights outshot the Impact 21 to 20 in the game.

Four rounds of shooters went through and neither team was able to score. Pentecost missed the net for the Knights while Yakimov’s shot found the back of the net to give the Impact a 4 to 3 win over the Knights.

Andersson made 18 saves as recorded his 22nd win of the season to go against 11 losses and 3 losses in overtime. Kelowna was 2 for 7 on the power play while the Impact was 1 for 8. Vader assisted on both third period goals for a two point game. He was also a +2, had 3 shots and 2 hits in almost 21 minutes. He was named the game’s #2 star for his effort.
