Game 46 – Montreal :impact: at Vancouver Whalers

All of the scoring in regulation of this game was scored in the first 80 seconds of the game as the Whalers took a 1 to 0 lead on Mason’s 10th goal of the season and then just 18 seconds later, the Impact tied the score at 1 to 1 on Karpotsov’s 17th.

Montreal would outshoot Vancouver in every period in the game including overtime as the shot totals were 36 to 12 and 2 to 1 in overtime, but neither team would score as the game went into a shootout. The first shooters for both teams did not score while Mack scored for the Impact and James was stopped as the second shooters. Gerrard would step up for the Imapct and score to give Montreal a 2 to 1 road win.

Andersson stopped all but one shot he faced for his 26th win of the season. Vader was even in the game with no points in 19 minutes on the ice. He had one shot, one hit and one shot block in the win.

Game 47 – Halifax raiders at Montreal :impact:

Montreal returned home to face Halifax as the Raiders looked to stop a two game losing streak to the Impact and keep their #1 seed hope alive. Montreal outshot Halifax 10 to 5 in the first period and the Impact scored the only goal of the period as well as Gagner netted his 2nd of the season to put Montreal up 1 to 0 after the first period. Both teams had two penalties called on them.

The Impact would add to their lead in the second period as Falk scored his 15th and Gerrard added his 24th to put the Impact up 3 to 0 after two periods. Montreal outshot the Raiders 11 to 7 in the period. Halifax had four penalties called on them in the second period while Montreal had none.
In the third period, Halifax would get on the scoreboard with just under five minutes left in the game as Mikita netted his 14th of the season while Montreal was on the power play to make the final score 3 to 1 in favor of the Impact.

Montreal outshoot the Raiders 12 to 4 in the period and 33 to 16 for the game. The Raiders once again had four penalties called against them while the Impact had none.

Andersson made 15 saves on those 16 shots for his 27th win of the season. Neither team scored while on the power play as the Impact was 0 for 9 in the game compared to 0 for 1 for the Raiders. Vader had one assist in the game and was a +1 with two shot blocks in 18 minutes of action.

Game 48 – Detroit Falcons at Montreal :impact:

The Impact look to keep their winning streak going against another divisional opponent in the Falcons. The first period was scoreless as the teams could only combine for 8 shots on goal – Montreal with 6 and the Falcons with 2. The Falcons were also called for all four penalties in the period but their penalty killing units shut down the Montreal power play.

The Falcons would score just 58 seconds into the second period as Bukss netted his 3rd of the season to put the Falcons up 1 to 0 in the game. Then, while Montreal was on the power play, Bartenberry scored a shorthanded goal to give the Falcons a 2 to 0 lead. It was his 26th goal of the season. However,

Vader would get the Impact on the board with just less than four minutes left in the second period with his 4th of the season to cut the Falcon lead to 2 to 1 going into the third period. Both teams had 10 shots on goal as the Falcons were called for three penalties in the period and the Impact were called for two.

With about nine mintues left in the game, Vader scored his second of the game to tie it for the Impact and send the game into overtime tied at 2 to 2. Montreal outshot the Falcons 6 to 2 in the third and 1 to 0 in overtime, but could not win it as the game went into a shootout. The Impact’s second shooter, Mack, scored, but Monesti tied it for the Falcons. The Falcons’ fifth shooter, Klinkhammer was stopped by Andersson and then Yakimov scored for the Impact giving them a 3 to 2 win.

Andersson made 12 saves in picking up his 28th win of the season to go against 11 losses and 3 overtime losses. The Impact were once again 0 for 9 on the power play while the Falcons were 0 for 1. Vader scored both goals for the Impact and was a +2 in the game. He also had three shots and one hit in 19 minutes on the ice.

Game 49 – Prince George Firebirds at Montreal :impact:

Another low scoring, ho-hum type of game for Montreal as they shut out the Firebirds 2 to 0. Neither team scored in the first period as Montreal had a couple of power plays and outshot Prince George 7 to 4. Much of the same in the second period as neither team was able to score as Montreal had two power play chances compared to one for Prince George. The Firebirds outshot the Impact 6 to 4 in the period.

Rowe would finally get the Impact on the scoreboard just under four minutes into the third period with 9th of his rookie season and halfway through the period, Grundmanis scored the final goal of the game with his 8th and was also a power play goal. Montreal outshot the Firebirds 10 to 3 in the period and 21 to 13 in the game.

Lewis-Flood got the shutout by stopping all 13 shots he faced. Montreal was 1 for 6 on the power play while the Firebirds were 0 for 1. Vader had nothing on the scoresheet and was even in the game as he played over 18 minutes and was not arrested by the TPE police afterwards.

Game 50 – Montreal :impact: at Detroit Falcons

The final game of the season had the Impact traveling to Detroit to face the Falcons as the Falcons look to end Montreal’s winning streak. The first period was a wild one as the team’s combined for five goals – Klinkhammer scored his 12th to give the Falcons a 1 to 0 lead. The Impact would score the next three goals as Yakimov got his 7th and 8th of the season and Silverwing with his 4th to put the Impact up 3 to 1. However, the Falcons would get one back before the period was over as Monesti scored his 20th. Montreal outshot Detroit 11 to 6 in the period.

Neither team scored in the second period as both teams had 8 shots on goal and the Impact held onto their one goal lead going into the final period of the season.

With just about three minutes left in the third period, Klinkhammer scored his second goal of the game to tie the game at 3 to 3 and send the game into overtime. Detroit outshot the Impact 9 to 7 in the third period. Detroit had only one shot on goal in the overtime period but that was all it took just 11 seconds into the overtime period as Bukss scored the game winning goal to give the Falcons a 4 to 3 win. Montreal outshot the Falcons 26 to 24 in the game.

Andersson took the loss in goal as his record for the season will end up 28-11-4. Both teams did not score on their power play chances as the Impact was 0 for 6 and the Falcons were 0 for 1. Vader had one assist in the game and was even in 18 minutes.
