<div align="center">GAME 37
St. Louis Scarecrows vs Colorado Mammoths Starting Line-ups Eugene Feist - Dos Diablo - Michael McHale Gustav-Hans Mohrs - Marc-Andre Malkin Casey Holmes Dickie Pecker - Sim Browski - John Jeeples Sludge - Jörgen Dåhlssen Jacob Andrews 1st Period Call this one the "Penalty Period," because there were a total of seven penalties in the first. Colorado saw Luke Powers head to the box, seemingly, back to back(3:33 and 5:39), which had the Mammoths coaching staff all worked up. The first period seemed to put Colorado in a funk that they just couldn't get back from. They gave up two power play goals to St. Louis, one by Dos Diablo at 12:29, and another by Michael McHale at 14:30. 2nd Period From seven penalties, down to two. A much shorter period, actual time-wise, as this one was over rather quickly. Steve Brando and Asmada Coi went to the box, but other than that, a lot of back and forth, with neither team being able to find the back of the net. 3rd Period More of the same, in the third period. Three penalties(Mohrs, Bob, Smith), and no goals. There's no doubt, the lack of self-discipline in the first period is what caused Colorado's loss, tonight. After the game, we caught up with first star, Casey Holmes, of the St. Louis Scarecrows. "I thought we played really well, tonight. I was seeing the puck well. The boys were clearing bodies out in front, and I never felt like I had to make a desperation save all night. If I can get that kind of vision every night, we'll finish the rest of the season without losing a single game. Hats off to the boys on D." Stars 1 - Casey Holmes (STL) 2 - Dos Diablo (STL) 3 - Michael McHale (STL) Goalie Stats Casey Holmes (STL), 22 saves from 22 shots - (1.000), W, 5-4-1, 60:00 minutes Jacob Andrews (COL), 17 saves from 19 shots - (0.895), L, 4-3-3, 60:00 minutes --- GAME 38 Halifax Raiders vs Vancouver Whalers Starting Line-ups Taystee Poussey - Alexander Sorensen - Felix Herzog Saint Jericho - Ace McCardle Curtis Allison Levi Kubrak - Bernie Sanders - Andreas Georgiadis Jackson Cartier - Montel Vontavious Porter Gavin Trent 1st Period The start of the action came at 3:14 of the first, when Alfred Holiday was sent to the penalty box for hooking. This resulted in an offensive zone faceoff for the Raiders, where they won the puck back to high scoring Reinis Aumeisters, and he put a good shot on goal immediately, scoring and giving the 1-0 lead to Halifax. Aumeisters would pick up his second of the game at 8:13, when he got a nice dish from teammate Patriks Porzingis. Vancouver would only answer with one of their own, as Levi Kubrak put in his first of the year at 13:37. 2nd Period Despite racking up their second and third penalties, of the night, during the second, Vancouver gave up no goals in the second. Their penalty kill proved tough, as they stopped the successful Raiders power play team. Vancouver was also able to tie the game up a few minutes past halfway in the 2nd, when Patrick Kilgore put the biscuit in the basket at 13:55. 3rd Period Tied at 2 a piece, you could see the intensity that both teams brought out on to the ice, in the 3rd. 4:33 into the 3rd, Halifax's Mike Ross scored his first of the year, to put Halifax in the lead, and they wouldn't give up that lead, the rest of the night. 3-2 the final. Stars 1 - Reinis Aumeisters (HAL) 2 - Levi Kubrak (VAN) 3 - Mike Ross (HAL) Goalie Stats Curtis Allison (HAL), 20 saves from 22 shots - (0.909), W, 3-1-0, 60:00 minutes Gavin Trent (VAN), 28 saves from 31 shots - (0.903), L, 4-6-0, 59:15 minutes --- GAME 39 Montreal Militia vs Kelowna Knights Starting Line-ups Riley McDonald Conall Macleod Raven Silverwing Clayton Fuller Sesugh Uhaa Matt Lewis-Flood Dieter Dominique Mikko Linna Denis Lever Mia Landvik Fedor Shirobokov Mikke Laukkanen 1st Period The highly touted Militia came in to Kelowna with a lot of confidence, and you could see it on their face, even in the warm ups. But, that wouldn't mean Kelowna wasn't ready for the mighty Militia. The first period played very evenly, with both teams getting a number of quality chances, but no actual points on the board. Montreal finished the first with two penalty minutes, and Kelowna with four. 0-0 after one. 2nd Period One of Kelowna's lesser known players, ZzJack's Robot Garcia, laid a vicious cross-check at 4:40, and that was enough to get the ball rolling for Raven Silverwing, and the Militia power play. With an assist from Fuller and also from the goalie, Lewis-Flood, Silverwing tallied his fifth of the year. Montreal would be called for three separate penalties during the period, but their stellar penalty kill squad got the job done, stopping all attempts from Kelowna. 1-0 after two periods of play. 3rd Period The Montreal scoring train had just got started in the second, as they would put up two more, in the third period. The first coming at 2:54, on the power play, by Raven Silverwing, again. This time, getting assists from Rowe and Macleod. Later on in the third, Hugh Johnson scored his fifth of the year, all but putting the nail in the coffin, of the Kelowna Knights. Final score on the night was 3-0, a shutout win for goaltender, Matt Lewis-Flood, his eighth win of the year. Stars 1 - Raven Silverwing (MTL) 2 - Matt Lewis-Flood (MTL) 3 - Hugh Johnson (MTL) Goalie Stats Matt Lewis-Flood (MTL), 17 saves from 17 shots - (1.000), W, 8-1-1, 60:00 minutes Mikke Laukkanen (KEL), 32 saves from 35 shots - (0.914), L, 5-4-1, 60:00 minutes --- GAME 40 Detroit Falcons vs Prince George Firebirds Starting Line-ups Gunnar Rask - Rising Hippo - Alexander Odegaard William Fedorov - Prince Daniel James Selena Bauer Nicolas Winter - Bennett Jones - Izzy Johnson Barack Obrana - Hunky Monkey Michael McFadden 1st Period It seemed as though the Detroit Falcons would own the game, barely over a quarter of the way through the first period. Rookie sensation, Alex Berkis would put in two goals within a minute and seven seconds of each other. The first coming at 4:55, assisted by Hans Moleman and Prince Daniel James. And the second coming at 6:02, and assisted by Wiljian Zjang and Prince Danial James again. Each team would see one minor penalty called on them, in the first, but they didn't prove to be worth anything, as each team failed to score on their power play opportunities. 2nd Period Despite wanting to call the game, in the first, Prince George came firing back in the second, putting up three back to back to back goals. Hunky Monkey put up the first two, both on the power play. And Bennett Jones put up the third, at even strength. Detroit wouldn't be completely silenced in the second, though, as Justin Novastar netted his second of the year at 15:31, right after the television time out. 3rd Period Each team wanted this win, and each team came up short of scoring in the third. A few good feeds from Maximus Sarone were all for naught, as the Falcons were unable to capitalize. Same story for Prince George. A few chances, scattered throughout the period, but nothing substantial enough to amount to a goal. Tied game, 3-3, heading into Overtime. Overtime It just felt as though there wasn't enough time to get anything going, as neither team added points to the board, and neither team were called for any penalties. The refs were letting them play, against the wishes of Falcons coaching staff, when Bennett Jones took a hard slash at Alex Berkis, in front of the Firebirds net. Still 3-3, and now onto a shootout. Shootout Selena Bauer was the story of the shootout. All three Prince George attempts were denied, and all three were with some fancy glove work. Alexander Odergaard would pot the winner, on the Falcons' second attempt, with a nice left to right deke, followed by a slide-in five hole shot. Falcons win. Stars 1 - Alex Berkis (DET) 2 - Hunky Monkey (PGF) 3 - Prince Daniel James (DET) Goalie Stats Selena Bauer (DET), 21 saves from 24 shots - (0.875), W, 3-1-0, 65:00 minutes Michael McFadden (PGF), 18 saves from 21 shots - (0.857), OTL, 3-3-4, 65:00 minutes</div> |
