<div align="center">SHL PT Team Announcement</div>

To sum up the present issues in PT grading, though most of you are already aware of these:

-Lack of clarity over grading has led to a high volume of player complaints.
-The time and emotional energy spent handling these disputes has led to high turnover in the PT team.
-High turnover in the PT team has meant that, up until now, there hasn't been a great method of training new graders.
-Lack of grader training means that the grading lacks consistency and transparency.

As you can see, it's a vicious cycle.

We the current grading team have met offline and brainstormed how we wanted to tackle this. We want players to feel like PTs are fun, worthwhile activities, and that there is a 'get out what you put in' factor--more effort leads to a higher grade--without it being too subjective.

So, here are the two things we've come up with that we will be newly implementing this season:

1) PT Grade Arbitration process

PT grades will now be arbitrated through third parties who are not affiliated with the PT team. This will be a new paid employment position. For S30, the new position holders are: <a href='index.php?showuser=1157' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-13'>Bojo</a>, <a href='index.php?showuser=51' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-8'>Toast</a>, and <a href='index.php?showuser=1622' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-10'>Copenhagen</a>. Between the three of them there is experience with moderating disputes within the league, written and graphical prowess, and experience with PT and media grading, which puts them in a good position to be able to analyze the situation.

All questions and complaints about PT grades will now be handled via a google form with the arbitration team, who will reach out to the graders with their questions and work to resolve the situation in a way that satisfies the players without undermining the graders. This also lessens both time pressure on and the chance of personal bias from the PT team.

With this new system, there is a caveat: any harassment of graders and/or Thunderdome posts regarding a PT grade will now result in an automatic dismissal of the arbitration. You can have a productive conversation with us privately for the possibility of a grade change, or you can Thunderdome us to hell and back and waive your ability to potentially recover docked points--this is entirely your choice!

2) PT Grading Rubric

To increase clarity in the PT grading system, we have introduced a generic grading rubric. This grading system will apply to all PTs unless otherwise noted (mostly when the situation does not fit it, such as with mocks or trivia).

The rubric can be found here. It has separate sections for written and graphic grades, and includes examples of full-point submissions so you have an idea of the kind of material we're looking for.

Please have some patience with us as we straighten out the kinks with this. We know it isn’t going to be perfect right off the bat--but we’re investing ourselves to improve the policies and procedures, so we would ask that you respect us as players and people who are making a genuine effort to clean up the PT process.

Sincerely,

Your S30 Grading Team: <a href='index.php?showuser=2104' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-17'>jjaybs</a>, <a href='index.php?showuser=2143' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-17'>akamai</a>, <a href='index.php?showuser=1654' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-30'>Allegiant</a>

<u><div align="center">Grading Change</div></u>

Because of some recent suggestions, the PT team will be trialing a 'grading on the fly' system for the next couple of PTs. Essentially how it's going to work is that one of us will grade once a day, and then post in the Global Claim Thread. In a perfect world, your PT will be graded within 24 hours of your submission, so make sure to check back in the thread!

Feedback for this system would be really helpful. Let me know what you think in the brand new "Feedback Box" thread, pinned just above this one.

Good morning SHL!

I'm pleased to announce that we have hired two new graders to the PT team, <a href='index.php?showuser=1773' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-62'>Baelor Swift</a> and <a href='index.php?showuser=2349' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Fivehole</a>. Thank you to everyone who applied--we received some great apps! (Rookies, we highly encourage you to apply for other SHL jobs--you guys are coming in and working hard, and that's great to see!Wink

We are disappointed that <a href='index.php?showuser=1654' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-30'>Allegiant</a> has decided to step back from grading, but we would like to thank him for being a really pleasant team member to have worked with and we wish him all the best in his next SHL endeavor!

New this season, we are introducing a public PT Suggestion Box where everyone can submit ideas for PTs. Have something you've always wanted to see tackled? Submit it! Both written and graphic-based ideas are welcome. The box is over here and is also pinned in the public SHL Player Progression forum. Please keep the PT Rubric in mind when submitting--we cannot accept any explicit suggestions to comply with the terms and conditions of our site host.

**The above is for PT topic ideas only. Questions, concerns, and more general feedback should go in the existing Feedback Box. Issues regarding a particular grade should be PM'd to <a href='index.php?showuser=2104' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-17'>jjaybs</a>, where it can then be directed to the PT Arbitration Team if necessary.

Last but not least--our new PT Schedule is here! We recommend that everyone takes a quick look (especially our large draft class of brand-new SHL players) so you know what to expect for this season.

Thanks to everyone who has given us your open-minded and positive feedback--we love that you guys are committed to improvement, and so are we. We hope to make S31 the smoothest yet!

Hi all!

Exciting news! I've been thinking for a while of bringing back the bonus for completing every PT in the season, and a couple of days ago, I got the goahead from Leafs SO:

Everyone who completes every PT this season will get 1M in their bank account.

*This bonus does not include Sunday Funday PTs, but does include prediction PTs.

Hi guys!

As we all know, the season starts tonight. The first PT of the season will be posted this afternoon, but I just have a few announcements to make first.

1) The PT cap is being raised to 40 a season. The amount of TPE being made available will be staying the same.

2) As with last season, there will be a 1M bonus for those who do every PT. This includes Weekly Predictions, but does not include Sunday Funday, or anything posted prior to the start of the regular season (e.g. Mock Draft, Season Predictions). This will be paid out at the end of the regular season.

3) Speaking of Sunday Fundays, they will be changing. They will now be a weekend-long PT, and will require a little more work (not a lot! Just more than five seconds of your time.) They will otherwise remain the same in terms of TPE handed out and that you get points for participation. As per last season, the PT Rubric does not apply to Sunday Funday.

4) Hopefully all of you enjoyed the appearance of the IIHF offseason PT (and the subsequent uncapped TPE). Starting in this upcoming offseason, there will be weekly offseason PTs with Uncapped TPE available.

5) The Suggestion Box from last season is still open. I welcome all suggestions for ideas for both regular PTs, and Sunday Funday. Be as creative as you like. Points for being more creative than <a href='index.php?showuser=2005' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>CRUTCHFIELD</a>.

As always, please feel free to PM me if you have questions or complaints, and the feedback box is always open. Have a great season, everyone.

Jay

Hello! (Sponsered by @Inf1d3l ) Id like to announce that we will be adding a podtask to our weekly point tasks on a limited basis... as in tasks that the topic can be discussed or debated. The information on our podtask criteria would be in the task itself but a 5 minute 1 man podcast on the topic at hand would be the requirements to earn the TPE. While pods are still a nitche within the community, we are excited to offer the league another way to earn your weekly TPE.

Hello all,

I want to remind and reiterate to everyone that the minimum word count for each task must be met in order to get credit for the task. This last WFT showed a large increase in members not making the min word count requirements and I just quickly looked over this current WFT in progress and noticed a bunch that wont recieve TPE as well.

I hate taking away TPE.. it goes against my grain.. which is why im making this announcement to allow those to go back and check their work and make sure the requirements are being met before the task closes, and to also be aware that even 1 word less than minimum will be subjected to TPE gone or reduced.

Cheers,

Izzy -

Hello!

During grading we see a lot of multiple entries. I want to make it aware that any time this happens our graders will grade the latest entry. No other criteria is looked at other then taking the last entry you posted.

Cheers,

PT Team -
