Who do you guys want? Early discussion lol but still.
I think we should get one or two of the following players..... Oli Jokinen Paul Gaustad Travis Moen PA Parenteau Josh Harding So lets say we get Jokinen, Harding and Moen, look at this roster baby. (trade Mac and L.A.C.K for picks and such, but possibly keep Armstrong) Lupul - Jokinen - Kessel Kulemin - Grabovski - Kadri Moen - Bozak - Frattin Brown - Steckel - Armstrong Gardiner - Phaneuf Gunnarsson - Schenn Liles - Franson Reimer Harding --- If we got any of those players, our team would look a lot better. Getter done Burkie. ![]() Registered S7, S19, S23 Challenge Cup Champion
I think Jokinen could be Connolly v2 Burke doesn't have luck in free agency at all.

jokinen can be a pretty lazy player.. Connolly has a similar skill-set and is better on the PK, plus how do we get rid of that contract? he still has a year left?
I do really like Harding. ![]() Registered Respected Creator
A Jokinen signing reveals a quick-fix similar to what we did with Connolly and no different from what Ferguson did all those years. As soon as Burke does that, everyone realizes he'd desperate.
I know he's after a number one centre but I'd be surprised if he doesn't go after a guy like Getzlaf or Thornton, especially with San Jose about to be bounced in the first round and their fantastic depth at centre (Pavelski, Couture, Marleau can all play the position). I also wouldn't rule out a Schenn for JVR trade. ![]() Moderators Moderator
i would say sign Harding as he could help push Reimer that that starting job and even beat him out for it. also i personally like Gaustad style of play. it would be liking having two Steckles and i could see him playing on that third line checking line which Carlyle loves to use

I also like Gaustad but I'd say if he joined us that would be it for Steckel

True Krever. I guess Jokinen is a lot like Connolly.
And about Harding, i doubt we actually do sign him, i was just hoping. Hes ready to be a starter and a lot of teams will want to pay big bucks for him. Still in his 20's and has put up really good sv% on a team like the Wild. ![]() Registered Posting Freak
idk what we can do this off season to really truly change the direction of this franchise for the better, other then say signing Suter or Parise which I am not holding my breath on......This last season fucking blew and unless Burkie works some fucking miracles(other then the two I mentioned above there is fuck all in FA) then next year is gonna blow ass hole as well......Put me in the depressed leaf fan category

My Off Season "Dreams"
Lupul - J.Staal - Kessel Clowe - Grabovski - Kulemin Frattin - Bozak - Moan Brown - Steckel - Armstrong Gunnarson - Phaneuf Murray - Gardiner Liles - Blacker Komi Luongo Reimer Draft Murray (BPA if he drops to us which i have this feeling) Trade for J.Staal. Schenn+Macarthur+Prospect for Staal Trade For Clowe. Kadri+3rd for Clowe Trade for Luongo. Franson+ a Pick? straight up for Luo Sign Moan Dump Lombardi for a Pick Dump Connolly for a Pick ![]() Registered Respected Creator Quote:Originally posted by Secord@Apr 21 2012, 02:22 PMI don't agree with you at all, I don't think you need a major free agent signing to become a better team, look at the Sens jump this season they went from near the bottom to becoming a solid team and they didn't have any major signings. They just let their team develop, their AHL team went on a Calder Cup run (which ours is ready to do now) and the following year their youngsters were ready to make abigger impact. If guys like Kadri, Colborne, Ashton, Frattin, and Gardiner are ready to become stars/contributors in some way (Gardiner already is and Kadri and Frattin appear close) then this team can become a lot better and quickly, as many teams have done in the past. Leafs fans are in a rush to be good now but I'd rather be patient and be great later (I know Leafs fans are quick to say we've been waiting for eight years but 4.5 of those years were wasted under Ferfuson, let Burke build the team from scratch with his prospects and let's see real, sustainable development with our youth). ![]() Registered Respected Creator
just remember, the team spent 3/4ths of the year as a playoff team before one of the biggest collapses in leage history, and that was as one of the youngest teams in the league and without any kind of consistent goaltending (at best).
we have more than you think already in place. ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Yeah i agree with Krever. Our D pairings need more time to gain experience and develop, remember we are one of the youngest teams in the league. With some quality bottom sixers added in the off-season (i don't think we will get Parise or anyone) like Moen, our bottom six looks a lot better already which was an issue last year.
