If we're continuing the Anthology idea, I'd suggest PT #2 be based around the season your player had just before playing in the SMJHL, whether it was in Bantam, Midget, Beer League, High School League, Parking Lot Street Hockey League, Siberian Slave Camp League, or whatever. Tongue

People can talk about how it set them up for success, how good their fictional stats were, some of the hazing procedures they experienced or made other younger players experience, etc.

Sometimes, a team just has bad bounces in the regular season. Write about a team that did not make the playoffs that you think deserved better. Could they compete with the top teams? Do they have the talent and the right coaching? What went wrong to make them miss out?

Pretend that you have just won the Challenge Cup and you get to take it home with you for a day. What are you going to do with it? Where are you going to take it and who are you going to show it to?

Written Option: You have just been approached by a company to become their poster boy. What company is it and how did the interaction go.

Graphic Option: create a poster/billboard/magazine cover of your player promoting the new sponsorship deal.

Two suggestions, one for PT, one for WFT. Might need to be fleshed out a little but yall know the general idea behind these.

PT:

The hit video game SHL 53 is set for release, and they have hired you as an "Executive Creative Consultant"! You've been assigned to their "Be A Pro" mode, and this year's iteration of the mode will see cutscenes and a fleshed out backstory of a created character in their rise to the SHL! In 150 words or more, talk about the ideas you add. What are some features the mode should have? How should the "Be A Pro" storyline go? What big name acting talent would you hire to do voices or mocap for supporting characters? Which SHL pros should cameo as important parts of the storyline?

graphic option: Post a screenshot of a cutscene in Be A Pro mode, or a gaming magazine/wesbite image hyping the game's release

WFT:

In 25 words or less, describe a hypothetical online post/comment thread about your SHL or SMJHL team, be it from Facebook/Twitter/YouTube/Reddit/any other site you can think of. What overreactionary ill-conceived hot takes are shared from fictional SHL fans? Who do they want to trade? Who do they praise as the greatest of all time despite mountains of evidence to the contrary?

PT Suggestion

The new league system has changed the way we play the game of hockey in the SHL. It has made several players re-think their entire skill set and while some has decided to focus on the same things as previous seasons, others have pivoted into completely new roles.

Written: Map out your thought process from when FHM was announced until the start of this preseason. What did you consider regarding your existing skill set? What did you end up doing, and why? Did you focus on what you wanted as an individual player, or did you take your team's needs into consideration?

Graphic: Create a graphic of you improving a previous weakness or strength of yours. In practice(eg. physical workout) or in theory(eg. film study).

WFT Suggestions

1) Tell us about one, or more, of your teammates and their less publicly known role in the team. Is that fourth-line goon also the team "grandma" that brings cookies to every practice? Or maybe your top scorer is also the locker room's dedicated DJ?

2) You've proven yourself of being quite capable as a hockey player, but what is something you're absolutely terrible at? Do plastic flowers wilt when you take care of them? Or maybe your oven has burn marks from your attempts at cooking frozen pizza?

Idea for closer to the trade deadline:

Become a media Insider and share a trade rumor/give a fan response to somebody else's trade rumor. Which players are on the block and why?

Graphics option could just be creating a trade breakdown of what each team received.

Alternatively, similar to Hot Takes, have GMs on both SMJHL and SHL level propose what they believe to be reasonable trades and have people give their agreement/disagreements to it.

2. Written, 2 TPE (100 word min)

There is a contest to rename the Challenge Cup, and you are asked to submit an idea. What is your suggestion, and why would it be a good choice to represent SHL's most coveted trophy?

3. Written, 1 TPE

Create an SHL-themed parody of the chorus of a popular song. Tell us which song you are referencing, and include at least 6 lines of the song.

4. Written, 3 TPE (150 word min) --- possible normal PT

The SHLPA's negotiations with HO sour, and the union forces the league to go on its first-ever lockdown. What would the union be demanding to put this to an end? How would you feel about the hold-out? How would the fans and GMs react to a delayed or shortened season?

Written option: In 100+ words, write out a radio/TV announcer’s call of one of your favourite moments from your player. If you want, include a colour commentator’s breakdown of how the play happened.

Graphic option: Make a graphic of the moment as it happened.

Audio option: Record yourself making the call!

1. Written
The SHL is throwing out the current point system of 2 per ROW and 1 per OTL. And HO asked YOU to come up with a new and better system. What is it and how would the league dynamic change?

2. Graphic
The SHL is trying to expand their reach to areas outside of those of your regular hockey fan. So they've bought ad space on a banner shown next to the finish line of a camel racing track. Create the ad.

3.
Written: Create a new SHL award. What kind of achievement is the award given for? Who's the award named after? Who would've won the award this season?
Graphic: Create a new SHL award. Make a poster showing this season's winner of your award. Include the winning player's name, why they won it, and the full award name.

I was talking to @StamkosFan the other day about replacing mock drafts with something else. As we know, they are kind of a crapshoot and can lead to GMs purposely doing trades to mess with people's mocks.

To negate this, I had an idea of a new PT:

Select a pick in the first two rounds and say what player is going there and explain why (minimum 50 words) for 0.5 TPE. You can talk about up to 8 different picks for a max of 4 uncapped TPE.

Something along the lines of this would keep the fun of trying to guess who is going where in the draft, but you're not penalized by making a pick (let's say, Bojo to BAP) and the team trading it away, causing you to get 0 TPE for that choice.

No GMs are trading to mess with people's mocks; GMs get the average score of all mocks so deliberately tanking mocks hurts them, too. (It happened only in the SMJHL a couple seasons ago.)

I don't hate this suggested idea, though I like keeping the mock draft around cuz I think it's a pretty fun task. I'll ponder!

Written (150 words): Usually the local media loves you, but no matter what you do there's one newspaper reporter with a vendetta against you. Write an over the top negative column about your player from the perspective of this disgruntled newspaper writer. This can involve on the ice play or an off the ice incident.

Graphics: The tabloids are all over you this year. Make a magazine cover that includes your player and a juicy headline for an article included inside.
