With the 12th pick in the SMJHL draft, the Halifax Raiders picked up Hans Sørensen. All smiles for Hans as he walked off the stage, the six foot four center hailing from Norway, coming down to talk with the media. He is not known for his media presence just yet, but seems like he is going to be making a big splash on the league with his presence and play style.

Sitting down, he is open to any and all questions from the media.

Are you happy where you ended up?

Absolutely, I did not know where I was going to wind up landing at, and Halifax came along and scooped me up. I am absolutely ecstatic about joining the team, and I cannot wait to get out on the ice with my new team mates!

Do you think you should've gone higher or lower or were you picked in about the right spot?

Honestly, I thought I was going to go lower than 12th, but I am not really concerned too much about where I may or may not have been drafted, I am just happy to be drafted and on such a prestigious team.

Do you know anyone currently on the team?

I have heard of a lot of guys, and maybe know of a few, but I am getting to know all of them right away, and they are all a really amazing bunch of guys, I know we are going to get along really well.

What are your goals for your first season?

I don't really have a specific goal for my first season, I just want to play some hockey and get out on the ice to prove myself to my team and coaches, as well as to the rest of the league that we will not be messed with.

If I have to choose a specific goal, It would be climbing my way up the line and getting onto that top line.

What are your thoughts on the team that drafted you? How's the locker room dynamic?

Great group of guys, a lot of them went out of their way to welcome me into the team right as soon as I got drafted, and honestly couldn't ask for a better place to be. I am proud to be a raider!

Any other thoughts on the draft?

The whole experience was great, leading up to draft day had its tense moments and a lot of speculation, but I think the draft went mostly the way everyone thought it would. The only two goalies going first and second, who would have thought? :lol:

How likely do you think it is that your team wins the Four Star Cup this season?

Well, Halifax won the presidents trophy (or whatever its official name is) last season and they are going to be another contender this year, so only time will tell, but I am going in confident that we will be there in the finals.

I love a thick crust pizza with buffalo sauce, chicken and ham with Canadian bacon on top, drizzled in more buffalo sauce. I think I like hot stuff but it is rare that I will eat a pizza.
