I think the fact that you only have two or three cracks at the Four Star Cup makes it a little more special as far as the juniors go, being a unique part of the career of a player. I wanted one badly on Windsor, and never got one, but going back now would be a little silly, even if my guys TPE is low enough.

I think it makes the most sense the way it is. If anything, players should he averaging less junior seasons in their career, not more.

I agree with that. It makes it more of a special accomplishment and gives me a reason to look forward to recreating.

Maybe if you all sucked as much as I do you would get four chances at it

Back in my day we got called up right away because you could make it with 300 TPE.

The way it should be...And a Reason for Mandatory Retirement at 1300 TPE
= Greater roll over of players
= More chances at a 4 Star Cup appearance
= No need for this thread.

-OR-

Create a true AHL level or as mentioned in PT#3 an intermediary to the SHL(I-SHL) so that those that want to keep their beloved creations can move them into a place where they can go 15+ seasons and still be effective. You could also drop recent inactives (>2 seasons gone ) to this level at a cost savings to the team (say 50% of contracts)..

Just spitballing... Hmm

Pretty pedantic to hold on the 'j' in smjhl as the reason why this couldn't work. It's a good idea and would be an interesting spin on a players career, but like was pointed out there would be playing time issues over new players. The minor league system has been designed to give new members a chance to play, but even then 350 tpe players are down there for 4-5 seasons taking playing time from new members so I don't see an old player being any different.

It's a little different when you sit behind an incumbent as opposed to losing your spot to some vet. Especially when a new member isn't going to be aware of who is an alumnus of their team. I think there is merit to both ways but personally I would rather just re-create and start fresh.

Why not, though? Aside from "you don't see NHL players doing it".
I think as long as you stick through a player long enough that their natural regression takes you back to sub-350, you should be allowed

Yes sir. How many players would actually take advantage of it, if it was allowed? Very few, I'd imagine. Why not add something that a few players would like, when it realistically won't have a big impact on either league as a whole?

I had a ton of fun with Conklin Owen in the Juniors. Up until this season, 8 seasons in, my best years were there. Why is it bad that I'd love to revisit that for 1 season to end my career? I think it'd be cool, even if I was a third liner. I plan on sticking around that long. Whatever, nothing will come of it anyway. Fun idea, I hope it happens, but I super doubt it will. Such is. Go VAN.

It's a development league meant to give newcomers a chance to be productive early in their career. Don't take playing time from newbies

But how is a player supposed to regress all the way to 350? Most players hit at least 800 tpe after 10 seasons. IDK the math but I'm sure it would take about another 10 seasons to regress all the way to eligibility.

Maybe we should re-visit the name of the SMJHL? Make it the Simulaion Minor Hocker League, and allow players to come back when they're older, with a clause that limits how many you can have on a team each season like we do for certain TPE level inactive FAs and you have to be in your retiring season.
