THE JESSTER IN S37: *UPDATED*
#1

Code:
4373 words and lots of research

<div align="center">The Ryan Jesster rookie of the year race in S37 was one to remember! More than 20 players from 3 different draft classes made the jump to the next level and shattered the rookie numbers from the previous first year classes from the 30's! The added influx of talent was a welcome addition to the league making it a more dynamic and competitive place to play.

Below are the projections and expectations from our preseason list.. followed by the stats and the season outlook of those players at the end of their rookie campaigns.

** Players below added in alphabetical order**

Sophia Bennett || RW || Los Angeles Panthers || 720 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 21G: 20A: 41P: -01: 20PIM: 44H: 191S: 4BLK: 17PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd line Winger
Outlook: Theres been no official word on where the 2 time junior champion will play, but our best guess could see Bennett line up with center Matthew Auston on the Panthers 3rd line to form a young dynamic tandem with future top line aspirations.

------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 18:63, 1st line, Power Play 2
S37 Numbers: 50G: 6G, 17A, 23P, -7, 8PIM, 9H, 136S, SHT: 4.41%, 5BLK, 9PPP

Sophia Bennett was the only rookie forward to represent a teams 1st line, for a panthers squad which played well this season boasting a 25-20-5 record. Quite an honor for the scoring forward who struggled to find that shooting touch which made her this draft classes most prolific scorer. In fairness Bennett was put in a difficult situation by her team to start her career off by taking on other teams top players. None the less 23 points is a nice start to a career as she ends 6th in Assists, 6th in total points and the 4th highest scorer on the power play among rookies!

Mercer Church || C || Seattle Riot || 441 TPE || S36
Last Season: 50G: 16G: 22A: 38P: +07: 30PIM: 53H: 124S: 4BLK: 13PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd line Center
Outlook: Church made an impressionable debut in S36 after being called up for the Seattle playoff run where he began on the teams 4th line, got promoted to line 3 mid way through their opening series with Calgary and even scored his first goal in-game 5! We expect Church to keep that 3rd line center role for the start of S37.

------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 12:50, 3rd line/4th Line, No Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 6G, 4A, 10P, +03, 4PIM, 21H, 46S, SHT: 13.04%, 4BLK, 0PPP

After that ringing endorsement by Seattle in the 36 playoffs where Church got promoted, seized a 2nd line slot and averaged close to 15 min per game.. its come as a surprise that Church struggled to keep a slot within the teams starting lineup. Church shifted between the 3rd and 4th lines throughout the year and watched his minutes fluctuate between 7 and 13 per game depending on the night. When he did get his opportunities he did some good work boasting a %13 shooting percentage which ranks 4th among rookies and was a +3 on the ice which is 6th best.

Clint Eastwood || D || Portland Admirals || 437 TPE || S36
Last Season: 50G: 3G: 25A: 28P: -03: 46PIM: 84H: 34S: 63BLK: 17PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 1st line pairing on D, Power Play unit.
Outlook: the result of the Portland yard sale had Clint Eastwood ranking as the teams highest TPE earner on their defensive unit. The Kelowna shut down defender did receive help with the signing of generational talent Kornel Kašpárek.. who we suspect will team together to form Portland's top defensive pairing in this new era of Admirals hockey. Eastwood should receive a healthy set of minutes and power play time right off the bat.

------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 22:66, 1st line/2nd Line, Power Play 1
S37 Numbers: 50G: 1G, 18A, 19P, -11, 74PIM, 123H, 22S, SHT: 04.55%, 71BLK, 04PPP

As thought Clint Eastwood played a ton of minutes with a ton of power play time for the rebuilding Pride.. While an aggressive player by nature, those 74 penalty minutes do represent the struggles which the young defender had in keeping up with other teams top units. That said when Clint was on the ice he was an exciting player out there racking up 19 points with 71 blocks and a 123 hits which is tops among defenceman! Eastwood wont win the Jesster, but SFP must be pleased with what they got out of their newbie D-man.

Dani Forsberg || RW || Calgary Dragons || 908 TPE || S34
Last Season: 50G: 25G, 33A: 58P: +10: 83PIM: 189H: 216S: 7BLK:19PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: Unknown
Outlook: Forsberg comes in as the top player in the SMJHL in S36 and top rookie TPE earner moving into the SHL. It's Hard to guesstimate where and with whom this dynamic rookie will play until he officially unbanks his TPE and creates his player build. But our best guest is either the 2nd or 3rd line on a talented Dragons lineup.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 17:74, 2nd line, Power Play 2
S37 Numbers: 50G: 14G, 12A, 26P, -03, 28PIM, 129H, 112S, SHT: 12.50%, 4BLK, 5PPP

Dani Forsberg lived up to expectations of being the S37's most hyped up rookie. The all purpose forward settled into the 2nd line and 2nd power play unit of a Dragons team full off talent and didnt miss a beat... as his 14 goals, 12 assists, 26 points, 129 hits and %12.50 shooting percentage all rank within the top 5 of their respective categories... if not for the remarkable season by Robert Phelps, Dani could make the case of being this seasons Jesster award winner.

Louis Garrett || RW || Seattle Riot || 728 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 18G: 14A: 32P: +03: 23PIM: 45H: 133S: 13BLK: 7PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd line Winger
Outlook: The Riots most favored prospect makes his way to the SHL and most likely a starting gig on the 3rd line. We wouldn't be surprised seeing Garret line up with Kelowna star Mercer Church to create a chemistry which Seattle hopes will follow them up to the team's top line one day.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 17.83, 3rd line, Power Play 2
S37 Numbers: 50G: 12G, 20A, 21P, -01, 12PIM, 23H, 163S, SHT: 7.36%, 7BLK, 10PPP

Louie Garrett got the green light to shoot this season.. and he shot.. he shot allot.. and he struggled... but then he kept on shooting.. and shot his way out of a shooting slump and into the role of a dynamic scoring forward who at times dominated the 3rd line! Seattle gave Garrett good minutes with power play time and he rewarded them with a fine season. Garrett would have been the Jesster award winner in a differant year.. The future looks real bright for the Seattle sniper.

Chuck Goody Jr || D || Calgary Dragons || 477 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 2G: 21A: 23P: +02: 39PIM: 27H: 39S: 67BLK: 10PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 4th line pairing with 3rd line time.
Outlook: In the blink of an eye Calgary now has an enviable set of young players and must find a way to successfully manuever through the old and new. Goody should find a healthy set of minutes in his rookie campaign, but where in the lineup he plays is unknown. Best guess see's Jr moving back and forth between the 3rd and 4th defensive pairings
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 08:85, 3rd line, No Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 0G, 8A, 8P, +12, 00PIM, 7H, 6S, SHT: 0.00%, 21BLK, 0PPP

Goody wasnt asked to play a big role for Calgary in his rookie campaign barely scratcing the surface of 9 min per game.. but when he was out there he showed that quarterback potential boasting a +12 which is tops among rookies.

Jack Hansen || D || Toronto North Stars || 457 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 01G: 14A: 15P: -07: 42PIM: 81H: 27S: 58BLK: 02PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd line pairing.
Outlook: The trade to St. Louis didn't produce the type of results Hansen put up in Montreal. None the less the steady D-Man put together a fine juniors career and should find steady minutes on a defensive unit in need of some depth. Look for Hansen to be a top 6 defender in his rookie season paired on Toronto's 3rd unit.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 26:93, 2nd line, Power Play 1
S37 Numbers: 50G: 4G, 23A, 27P, -04, 28PIM, 84H, 34S, SHT: 11.76%, 76BLK, 6PPP

Hansens always had a SIM friendly game and Toronto put that to the test in his rookie season allotting 26:93 minutes of PT with top power play time!.... for a team that made the playoffs! woooo...Im sure Hansens praying that no one wakes him from the dream situation he's been given... a position which Hansen thrived in scoring 27 points with 84 hits and 76 blocks. It's hard not to stare at that 27 minute per game playing time and feel compelled to add an asterisk next to it... still..Hansens had a great rookie year.

Mike Izzy || LW || Calgary Dragons || 715 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 18G: 17A: 35P: +04: 58PIM: 130H: 147S: 7BLK: 11PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd Line Left Wing
Outlook: One of the leagues most highly profiled Juniors is set to make his SHL debut on Calgary's 3rd line. Already one of the teams most physical players, the Augment should feel comfortable playing in the mud and clearing the way for what should be 2 talented linemates alongside him.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 15:94, 3rd line, No Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 7G, 9A, 16P, +6, 43PIM, 149H, 71S, SHT: 9.86%, 4BLK, 0PPP

With under 16 min of playing time and no power play, Mike Izzy was asked to be the grinder on a talented Dragons 3rd line. As the Jesster goes Izzy's 16 point output falls short of any award discussions. But as the Calgary Dragons go Izzy did exactly what was asked of him as he lead the team with 149 hits.. which is the most ever by a Calgary rookie!.. Along with a +6 when on the ice. With a healthy %9.86 shooting percentage Izzy seems poised to take on a bigger offensive role in 38.

Shoyu Kikkoman || D || Edmonton Blizzard || 495 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 12G: 24A: 36P: +5: 61PIM: 77H: 100S: 51BLK: 15PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 1st line pairing, Power Play time
Outlook: the first wave of Edmonton reinforcements are here as Shiyu brings a very enviable juniors career with him to a team that is in desperate need of defenders. Edmonton may look to keep Leclerc and Svensen together and start Shiyu on the 2nd line but our best guess says that the dynamic D-Man starts along side Svensen on the team's top unit and receieves lots of minutes and power play time.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 24:20, 1st line, Power Play 1
S37 Numbers: 50G: 5G, 13A, 18P, -03, 44PIM, 100H, 59S, SHT: 8.47%, 69BLK, 4PPP

The 1st of what will be many Edmonton prospects to make their way to the big club premiered on the team's top D-unit with plenty of power playing time...A nice perk for these prospects whom are asked to be patient during their rebuild. Shoyu began slow... witnessing a poor preseason followed a difficult first week ... but Kikks found his legs shortly there after and began to showcase all of them skills which made him a peripheral monster in the SMJHL.. and when the smoke cleared Kikkoman ended with 18 points, 100 hits and 70 blocked shots and an admirable -3 on the ice. Karl and Ace must be pleased with their prototype prospect.

Oliver Konig || D || Hamilton Steelhawks || 493 TPE || S36
Last Season: 50G: 13G: 36A: 49P: +04: 21PIM: 40H: 135S: 62BLK: 18PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 2nd unit, PP2 time
Outlook: Theres nothing sleepy about Oliver Konigs game as the first of the Kebabs make the jump to the next level. Konigs special season in S36 may have been all Hamilton needed to see as the highly touted defenseman could fill the role left by Kornel Kasparek on the teams 2nd unit, along side all-star team-mate Jacob Trochek.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 21:84, 1st line, No Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 5G, 10A, 15P, -19, 29PIM, 41H, 29S, SHT: 17.24%, 69BLK, 0PPP

Oliver Kopnig was one of a handful of Hamilton Prospects who debut in 37 and they did not shelter the dynamic D-Man offering close to 22 min a game of ice time per game on the teams 2nd line with his hands on the power play. Konig had some fine moments in his rookie season finishing 11th among rookies in points and 5th among defenseman anchored by a wicked 17.24 shooting percentage and 69 blocks! Konig also struggled to keep up with his peers shown by a -19 eye sore. But that plus minus is more about his team and putting him in that position then Konig himself. Strong 1st year for what should be a franchise type defenceman.

Fin Kruger || D || West Kendall Platoon || 664 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 14G: 21A: 35P: -08: 27PIM: 15H: 83S: 51BLK: 12PPP
Call up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd line pairing but could win 2nd line role.
Outlook: Colorado's all-purpose defenseman moves up to the SHL and onto what will be a revamped West Kendall defensive unit as out goes Bojo Biscuit and in comes Ludwig Koch Schroder and Fin Kruger. No official word on the rated rookies slot within the line up but best guess says he starts as a 3rd pairing player in the preseason with a shot to take hold of a top 4 position.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 15:57, 3rd line, No Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 0G, 20A, 20P, +8, 18PIM, 24H, 17S, SHT: 0.00%, 54BLK, 0PPP

On a ubber talented West Kendall defensive unit, Fin Kruger began the season with a limited role averaging around 13 min per game with no power play time on the teams 3rd unit. But Kruger forced managements hand by playing well when ever he was out there and by mid-season those minutes increased.. and so did Krugers stats as he ended with 20 points while boasting exceptional per min numbers. West Kendall is going to have to find allot more minutes for the talented D-man in S38.

Carrick Murray || G || Edmonton Blizzard || 443 TPE || S35
Last Season: 43G: 23W: 16L: 4OTL: %875: 2.75GAA
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: Back up Goalie
Outlook: The shield of Vancouver's back to back championships moves on as he secures a role as Edmonton's back up net-minder where he should receive more than the back ups 6 game minimum on an Edmonton team still a few seasons away from playoff aspirations.
------

#RIP

Isaac Odegard || D || Minnesota Chiefs || 522 TPE || S36
Last Season: 50G: 10G: 27A: 37P: -06: 16PIM: 28H: 105S: 66BLK: 19PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd line pairing
Outlook: S36's top pick in the draft moves up after just 2 seasons with Vancouver to take his spot on the roster as the air apparent to Alonzo Garbanzo. Minni's special talent comes in with a healthy TPE for his draft class and a projected role as the teams 3rd line defender.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 11:86, 3rd line, No Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 1G, 7A, 8P, +05, 0PIM, 7H, 25S, SHT: 4.00%, 35BLK, 0PPP

The top pick in the S36 draft class was promoted to Minnesota and eased into their offense as some offseason moves turned the Chiefs into one of the most talented defensive units in the SHL. Odegard started on the teams 3rd line where he played a little under 12 minutes a game. Odegard did exactly what was asked of it putting up solid 'per minute' numbers across the spectrum including a +5 on the ice which ranks 5th among all rookies. With Chris Crutchfield out to stud Odegard should be primed for an increased role in 38.

Angelo Oljick || RW || Hamilton Steelhawks || 712 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 19G: 27A: 46P: +10: 52PIM: 111H: 156S: 3BLK: 15PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 2nd line, possible top line player.
Outlook: The Whaler Captain brings his back to back 4 star cup trophies with him to Hamilton where we project he could start along side brother Phelps. But Oljicks ability to hit hard and make room for his linemates does make him a candidate for Hamilton's top line. Look out in the preseason for this players slot in the line up.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 20:30, 2nd line, Power Play 2
S37 Numbers: 50G: 13G, 12A, 25P, -04, 32PIM, 120H, 144S, SHT: 9.03%, 14BLK, 4PPP

After a remarkable preseason which witnessed the #2 overall pick in 35 dominate the ice, Oljick looked ready to be this teams top rookie in S37... to no fault of his own the media coverage in the regular season was dominated by Brother Phelps and his tremendous rookie campaign.. and while the numbers were steady.. Oljick wavered between a grinders role and the ability to score points.. but Angelo found cohesion in his game during the 2nd half of the season and ending strong with 13 goals, 25 points and 120 hits! The Jesster will go to a Steelhawk in 37... but it wont be Oljick...Still A fantastic all around year for the Hybrid Forward who should build upon these numbers on a stat friendly Hamilton Steelhawks.

Cam Ouellette || LW || Minnesota Chiefs || 513 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 19G: 18A: 37P: +08: 04PIM: 58H: 126S: 4BLK: 8PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd line Winger
Outlook: The Chiefs can use some able bodies at the back-end of their line up and the underrated winger from Vancouver could fill that Void. Minni has been quite active in this offseason and will have allot to look at in pre season, but watch out for the Chiefs possibly pairing up Ouellett and Yuriy Starkonov to form a good young tandem on the teams 3rd line.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 12:59, 3rd line, Power Play 2
S37 Numbers: 50G: 7G, 8A, 15P, +06, 10PIM, 16H, 50S, SHT: 14.00%, 1BLK, 4PPP

Cam Ouellette came in and did exactly what the Chiefs had hoped for, providing strong play from the teams 3rd line which included 15 points and an eye-opening 14.00 SHT% which is 3rd among all rookies in just a little under 13 min of ice time. Ouellette proved he was up for the task and up to do more than was asked ... as Minnesota should reward the promising winger with a healthy increase of playing time in the upcoming season.

Sami Owens || D || Hamilton Steelhawks || 443 TPE || S36
Last Season: 50G: 03G: 13A: 16P: -9: 26PIM: 29H: 55S: 57BLK: 5PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd line pairing
Outlook: After a stellar rookie season in Kelowna the offensive minded D-Man took a step back in 36 struggling to find his way. But Owens TPE remains strong and Hamilton believes they can utilize this player oozing with potential as we project Owens to be a top 6 defender, most likely starting on the teams the 3rd unit.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 21:58, 2nd line, No Power Play -
S37 Numbers: 50G: 4G, 8A, 12P, +01, 23PIM, 66H, 25S, SHT: 16%.00%, 79BLK, 0PPP

On a team where -15's are normal... Sami Owens +01 on the ice really stands out. That with a healthy 21 minutes of ice time plus his 66 hits and rookie leading 79 blocked shots makes for an impressive rookie campaign for a player that came into the SHL with an inconsistent resume. It's still hard to gauge who Owens is out there but this season should cement himself as a viable asset within Hamiltons defensive unit.

Robert Phelps || C || Hamilton Steelhawks || 776 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 11G: 26A: 37P: -03: 59PIM: 85H: 108S: 05BLK: 12PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 2nd line Center, 2nd PP unit
Outlook: The Messiah has arrived in Hamilton!... S35's 1OA takes what will be his 800+ player build to the Steelhawks 2nd line where he will look to be that lines playmaker. Look for all the minutes Robert Phelps can handle and 2nd unit power play time.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 20:82, 2nd line, Power Play 2
S37 Numbers: 50G: 18G, 26A, 44P, -07, 29PIM, 36H, 153S, SHT: 11.76%, 11BLK, 13PPP

44 Phelps
32 langabeer
25 ryes
28 thorstein
36 nova
36 selich
36 Angello
26 linna

Robert Phelps began his career on the back of a tank as he rode in and tore up the league. His 18 goal 44 point performance is easily the best numbers for a rookie in the 30's (as shown above) .. Numbers which weren't just excellent for rookies, but were excellent in comparison to the whole league.. as shown by his selection to the S37 all-star game. The build around center was everything as advertised and more and should easily take home this seasons Jesster award in the start of what looks to be a memorable career.

Fedor Shirobokov || D || Minnesota Chiefs || 493 TPE || S35
Last Season: 50G: 03G: 25A: 28P: +06: 44PIM: 50H: 46S: 59BLK: 10PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd line pairing
Outlook: Theres been a major influx of talent coming into Minnesota's defensive unit this off-season which includes the signing of Chris Crutchfield and the promotions of Issac Odegard and Fedor Shirobokov. Minnesota is now a deep team with a chance to make noise and while there's no official word on where Fedor will line up, our best guess says the Chiefs pair Fedor with Odegard to form the franchises 3rd defensive pairing, a pairing which Minnesota expects to one day be their top line pairing.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 12:51, 4th line, No Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 1G, 4A, 5P, -09, 10PIM, 60H, 17S, SHT: 5.88%, 41BLK, 0PPP

Fedor has always been one of the best defensive D-men of his peer group and his 60 hits and 41 blocks in just 12 min of ice time per game confirms those skills... but the ex Kelowna Knight didn't have a big enough role to make an impact in 37. Fedor can do allot more given the proper ice time.. which hopefully hell see in S38.

Vratislav Zbyněk || LW || West Kendall Platoon || 500 TPE || S34
Last Season: 50G: 18G: 17A: 35P: -04: 18PIM: 47H: 153S: 06BLK: 08PPP
Call Up: Confirmed
Projection: 3rd/4th line duties
Outlook: Zbyněk ends what was a fine career in Colorado, now set to take a role in West Kendall on either or both of the teams 3rd and 4th lines. The Platoon have an abundance of young talent so keep a close eye in preseason to see where Zbyněk fits in within the lineup.
------

S37 Outcome: AMG: 0.01, No line, No Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 0G, 0A, 0P, 00, 0PIM, 0H, 0S, SHT: 0.00%, 0BLK, 0PPP

While nothing was confirmed by Minnesota, it is believed that Vratislav Zbyněk came down with a case of Mono shortly before the start of the S37 season and was sent home by coach Lord-Falco. This would explain the ghosting of a pretty solid prospect who's 1st seasons numbers wer saturated with zeros. get well Vratislav.

Artom Zhumbyev || G || Winnipeg Jets || 625 TPE || S35
Last Season: 44G: 23W: 16L: 4OTL: %896: 2.68GAA
Call Up: Un-Confirmed
Projection: Back up goalie
Outlook: We could not confirm whether Artom Zhumbyev is being called up for the start of S37, but with a TPE rate above 600 and nothing left to prove in the juniors, we expect to see Artom secure the role of back up goalie on a young and talented Winnipeg Jets.
------

S37 Outcome: Position: Back Up Goalie
S37 Numbers: G:06 3W: 3L: OTL: %902: 3:17GAA

The Draft classes top goalie prospect performed well as the 6 game back up goalie sporting a respectable +900 save percentage.

**Additional Promotions**

Dwayne Wyder || C || Hamilton Steelhawks || S36

S37 Outcome: AMG: 16:35, 3rd line, Some Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 6G, 6A, 12P, -14, 36PIM, 164H, 70S, SHT: 8.57%, 7BLK, 5PPP

Dwayne Wyder was one of the late promotions of the 37 season, late enough that he was not considered for this articles initial list. But come game 1 there he was on Hamiltons 3rd line and Wyder did what he knows how to do... he Hit and he hit allot!... Wyders 164 hits tops the S37 rookie class as he cemented himself as one of the leagues up and coming grinders.. Wyders never been a top notch offensive threat but the Power Forward put up some respectable numbers which includes 12 points and a decent shooting percentage and on a team like Hamilton which seems to be stat friendly Wyder is a valuable asset.

Casey Creller || D || Calgary Dragons || S36

S37 Outcome: AMG: 8:41, 4th line, No Power Play
S37 Numbers: 50G: 1G, 5A, 6P, -04, 24PIM, 57H, 16S, SHT: 6.25%, 21BLK, 0PPP

One of the highest ranked TPE earners of the S36 draft class received a preseason tryout with Calgary and earned a roster spot on the teams 4th line where Creller on the job training resulted in almost 9 minutes of playing time per game. Creller made the most of those moments laying the wood 57 times and blocking 21 shots. Creller has elite upside and should not be overlooked in this rookie class.</div>
