S37 PT 2: Insider Knowledge
#1

Congratulations, you just got drafted! As we prepare for the preseason, now is the time to get to know your brand new teammates. You might have heard of or met some of the veterans or other top prospects before, maybe read an interview or two, but being in a locker room with them is a whole different story.

Task
Tell us about three things you've heard or seen in your new locker room that have surprised you. (If you can, ask your LR for help - what are their weird pre-game routines? Who has a rivalry or a bromance going on? Which weird alum is always hanging out in a corner for seemingly no reason? etc etc)

Reward
4 TPE.

Only S37 SMJHL Rookies (S38 SHL Rookies) are eligible for this PT.

Do NOT claim TPE for this task until a post has been made in the claim thread.

Deadline
Oct 12, 11:59 PM EST

Three things I've learned are 1. Vancouver is ready to help instantly with questions, 2 I purchased the wrong game when I bought squad and 3 a little checking goes a long way in the SMJHL

Coming into the league for my first season, St. Louis reached out first to me among the teams. Not only first, but continually leading up to draft day. Definitely the most welcoming team (to me at least).

Following the draft and entering the locker room Discord channel, I'm glad to find an active team of people I can hopefully make friends with. Initial impressions are hard to form from scattered Discord conversation, but Er Tor Tuck has stuck out to me. Asking him about who should be this season's captain, he confidently put his own name forward before quickly losing the fire in his eyes and donning a blank look with a hint of drool falling from his mouth. I just might follow this man anywhere.

1) Christian Petersen religious eats waffles before every game.
2) The team captain is always in charge of the locker room's waffle iron.
3) Our GM and coach hates waffles.

I've learned a lot in my short, yet exciting stay with Detroit in the SMJHL.

1. It's a pre-game ritual to have a group hug with "our" dad. Yes, we literally have a discord bot named "Dad Bot."
2. Don't mess with Waters, he'll bring you to downtown Detroit and LEAVE you there.
3. Detroit is the best team in the SMJHL and will undoubtedly win the cup.

The locker room has been very interesting thus far. Instantly there was a great connection with my teammates. Here are 3 things I learned:

1. The Mammoth locker room is about Mammoth tusks and getting people ready to play some hockey. The players are very open about their wives and potentially other mistresses. I mean, we have a whole room for those that are intriguing.

2. The GM really likes feet. I am not sure if there is a very interesting thing behind that with Rex Ryan, but he really likes feet and toes. There is no room dedicated to this, but I have a feeling there might be soon.

3. Everyone is willing to help out. We had a great chat about poutine (not really, but we should). I think there is a mix of new people with veterans that it makes this locker room an awesome place to be. I see TJ Bayley staying here a while.

1. Detroit is home to the storied "Dad-Bot"
2. A member of our management has already puked today, gross.
3. It was a mistake to put points into strength, ):

I was surprised when I had gotten drafted by the Firebirds. We had had no contact between when I announced my eligibility and draft day. I noticed the GM hanging around me, but he never reached out. Needless to say, he put me in a pretty good environment. That doesn't come without some catches though.

Firstly, one of my fellow rookies, Maurice Picard, was talking about killing the opposition. He doesn't seem like the toughest or most physical guy, so he may just want to leave that part to me.

Secondly, someone told me that Chris York is like a granddad and after watching him for the first day, I have to agree. Who the hell eats dinner at 3:30 and goes to bed at 6? Wake up, old man! I have contract money to spend at the bars!

Thirdly, we've had some weird alumni poke their heads in and none of the other alumni know who they are. Some weird guy is really out of shape. He even says "iObese". I don't know how he made it to the SHL, but if Kyle Wellwood can play in the NHL, it seems as though anything is possible. I'm not sure having such lax security is good for the team, but with me around, I guess it really doesn't matter Starwars

I don't know what a 'Beaujeaux Biscuit' is and I'm not sure if it's a sexual innuendo or not. What have I got myself into?

There's a lot of Tanners. I want to ask if they're all related but I don't know if it's insulting to presume.

I had to find my own way to the locker room. You'd think these guys would have somebody to provide directions but they just left me outside the arena. After waiting around for a while I realised I had to do it myself and soon found it but, still, it was a very minor inconvenience. I threatened to holdout because of it but nobody listened.

Bobby Watson, drafted 10th overall by the St. Louis Scarecrows. Go crows !!

1) It's way more active than what I thought it would be.
2) Let's call it a secret section, we have one. That surprised me a little.
3)Pancakes lottery.

So, the gang is very welcoming, there seems well organized. It's a very fun team to be for my first simulation hockey league experience. I had fun reading some of the past posts. For a bromance, I feel that Bluefan55 has one with everyone. Time will tell if I'm right or not haha. Haven't talked strategies yet but I feel we'll do soon since we're organized.

Go Scarecrows !!

1) I hadn't talked to the team at all prior to the draft, so it was nice to see the guys are all very welcoming and chill. InciteHysteria and Toe both seem to be good dudes, which honestly I had never even talked to them prior to the draft.
2) Literally all of us are either at work or school while we're on discord. Oh, and we're on discord, didn't know we had a discord.
3) McGraw has the best gifs in the world. Period.

There is some weird stuff that happens in the locker room that probably shouldn't be said in public, but who cares.

1. Jack Tanner - the dude loves to walk around naked for some reason.... He says its a tradition before every game he needs to do it..... but for 30 minutes come on man.....

2. Connor Tanner - The dude loves bananas for some reason as well.... Loves to eat them nice and slow and loves to watch people while he does it.... The dude is creepy, but hey he scores.

3. And finally the third triplet Barbie Tanner, ya she a cool chick, she is actually normal. Just like to drink beer the night before a game.
#15

1. Ben Waters is now in Detroit management. Hmm..

2. Connor Blackwell likes to bathe himself in a tub of margarine before each game.

3. HAIL UG has become the battle cry for the Falcons.
