![]() Hello everybody and welcome to the announcing of this years Montreal Militia captains, we have a relatively new group of captains with one returning member of last years squad. I believe this squad absolutely has what it takes to lead this team to and through the playoffs this upcoming season, but without further ado, I would like to introduce you to the first of our two alternate captains. Dakota Reid ( @Jiggly_333 ) Dakota Reid joined Montreal as a post-draft free agent in season 35 and ever since then has been an important part of the Montreal locker room. It would be very difficult now to imagine the locker room without Reid. Her rookie season consisted of a lot of physicality, a couple of fights, and a lot of learning. While some players may have wilted under the disappointment of low scoring totals, Dakota spent her time focused on getting under the other team's skin, and making their time on the ice hell. Her sophmore year was packed with a little more bite to go with her bark, increasing both her physicality and scoring totals. With some offseason training we believe Dakota is going to bring an even more increased level of offense, while still playing that hard nosed style of hockey that earned her this letter. Reid loves to throw a big hit, or win a fight, and get her team energized. The rest of the Militia really responded well to Dakota's presence on the ice, and that made this decision to name Dakota as an alternate captain very easy. Howie Dewitt ( SethTrollins ) Howie Dewitt joined the Militia with the 19th overall pick of the season 37 SMJHL draft. While he hasn't been here long he has already made his presence known to the general managers of the Militia by immediately requesting he receive less than a max deal in order to have more cap space to sign future free agents. This is something a naturally born leader does for his team. We expect Howie to be a leader on offense this year, something the Militia has lacked recently. Hopefully Howie's selfless moves off the ice set him up for some selfless plays on the ice. Cheers to you, Howie. and for the Captain of the season 37 Montreal Militia Jack Tanner ( Beaver ) I am sure if you have read our award announcement it comes as no surprise to you that Jack Tanner is the Montreal Militias captain this season. He has been an absolute blessing in our locker room. As a rookie Jack Tanner has brought the presence of a veteran onto the ice, often mentoring players older than him. Jack's value isn't just on the ice though, he has taken charge of both the teams scouting and analytics departments always making attempts to better this team. If Jack continues to work at his game, there's no reason why you won't see the Montreal Militia taking a run at this years Four Star cup. That's a really nice captain you've got there. Would be a shame if he were called up!
