Last nights game would be a game for people who like goals, which honestly should be the majority. It was the second our of the three match.ups between the teams to start the season, something to the canadian fans delight, The Militia with the already iconic Tanners will try to make it 2-0 in their season series as they also won the first. The back-to-back cup winners Vancouver has lost almost half their teams to the SHL and is trying to find themselves and their game with a far less skilled team.

Just like the first game Montreal started the scoring, this time from the stick of Alexander McKinley, who scored two fast ones to put the Militia up by two. But right before the period came to an end, Sven Niederreiter scored his first goal of the season to cut the lead by one.

The second period would go the other way, as Vancouver scored two quick ones, Shaun Stephens and Joakim Lindqvist scored one each before the 5-minute mark to put the Whalers up for the first time in the game. But the lead would only last for for just under 10 minutes until Jack Tanner tied it up. That score would stand the period out and we'd have a brand new game to start the third, A 20 minute game.

Montreal came out the strongest in the third as Connor Tanner quickly scored his second of the season to put the Militia up again, But Johnson Jack, the man with the reversed name managed to tied it up halfway through the period. But the Militia and the Tanner family would be the victors in this match as Barbie Tanner scored the game-winner, assisted by Jack Tanner with only 2 minutes to go.

Final Score: 5-4 in favor of Montreal.

<div align="center">Rookie of the Game

Artemi Berezin Militia

Berezin was all over the ice in this game. He finished the game with one assist, a beautiful pass to Connor Tanner to give his team the lead in the third period.

Quote:7. Montreal Militia , Connor Tanner 2 (Artemi Berezin 2, Aline Marquales 1) at 2:48

His second assist of the second was not his only contribution in the Militia's win. Berezin had a game high 7 shots on net. The Whalers netminder had Berezin's number this game as he stopped every one, but the effort was there and he had some high quality chances. Berezin played 21 minutes in the win and contributed on the powerplay and even the penalty kill. Its easy to tell how much the coach appreciates this first year player.</div>

<div align="center">TSN Turning Point of The Game</div>

The play of the game was the scoring goal in the last 2 minutes of the match. Nolan Snipez won the face-off and passed to Jack Tanner, who led his team to the scoring zone. After a shot blocked by Lizzy Jukka, Barbie Tanner got first to the rebound and scored the tie breaker goal to give Montreal the win !! That was a fantastic combo by the Tanner and Tanner.

After Hours with Gord and Jim!
</div>

Jim: Hidiho Gord, how are things tonight?
Gord: Well Jim, I dropped my coffee on the way over, so could be better.
J: As long as it was Timmies, I'm not too worried, well Gord, on tonight's sheet is the Whalers and Militia, teams who have swapped places since last season Gord
G: Yeah, Montreal is trending in the right direction, while the Whalers seem to be taking a step back, but welcome to the SMJHL I guess.
J: This game was nice and close, with a 5-4 win going to the Militia, and their new acquisition helped that
G: McKinley started off this game with a bang for sure for Montreal, scoring two goals only minutes apart, and really getting Montreal started well, but the big news was Shaun Stephens losing it on the refs after that early whistle in front of Evans.
J: Yeah, that could have been much worse for the Whalers and Stephans in particular but the Whalers flew out of the gate in the second determined to get this game back in their favors didn't they Gord?
G: Sure did Jimmy boy, scoring their 2nd and 3rd goals of the game under 5 minutes into the second frame, but it just wasn't enough after all.
J: Not for the Tanner era in Montreal, the triplets combined for 5 points in tonight's game, and Evans got the win! That's enough for us tonight, tune in next time with Gord and myself on After Hours presented by The Puck Bunnies Blog!

TSN Turning Points

You don't have to look far to find the real turning point of this game. A real tight game from start to finish, with both teams trying their hardest to get the upper hand but neither managing to until deep in the third period. The Tanner brothers are some of the SMJHL's, Connor and Jack particularly. However, the third of the Tanners, Barbie Tanner managed to take a pass from his brother and get it past Whalers goalie Roberts Kļaviņš and win the game for the Militia. A tough game throughout with little to set the teams apart, makes Barbie Tanner's game winning goal the easy choice for the TSN Turning Point of the game.

<div align="center">
1st Star Of The Game
Militia Alexander McKinley, Center Militia

Alexander McKinley is your 1st star of the game tonight, by scoring the opening two goals of the game to put the Militia up to an early lead, one that the Whalers would break, but be unable to overcome. His 22 minutes played was extremely valuable for the Militia as he would end the game as the 2nd highest playing time for forwards on the Militia side. With a tough game being played from both sides, the offensive efforts from McKinley were hte game-changer for the Militia, and thus the first star of the game.

McKinley is currently a draft prospect for the Calgary Dragons.</div>

<div align="center">Lavelle's Shmuck of the Game

Here we have a look at the seventh part of a 12 part series which focuses on identifying shmucks. What is a shmuck I hear you ask? Well according to wikipedia it's "one who is stupid or foolish, or an obnoxious, contemptible or detestable person".

Joshua Woodcroft

Woodcroft became the 7th shmuck of the game this week when he had a tough and ragged time against the Militia. Despite playing a total of 15:37 in the Militia game, he ended the game with a -3 differential. He also managed 2 penalty minutes. While he did lay down a total of 5 hits in the game he was still on the losing team of 5-4 to the Militia.
