Weekend Funtime: Surprises

I think the most obvious team that is due for a surge into the playoffs is the Wolfpack. They have a strong team and have too much talent to miss the playoffs in the East. They have even made progress lately but still find themselves a few points out - it should not be long before they are back and likely among the top three in the conference.

Up to this point, which team's performance has been most unexpected? Does their standing in their conference accurately paint the whole picture?

The Wolfpack sitting in 5th place in the East is a big surprise. They started slow and came on late last year, so maybe they do it again.

- Which team currently sitting out of playoff contention do you most expect to make a surge and reach playoffs by the end of the season, and why?

I think that NEW will make a shot for a playoff spot, they have the scoring to do it and most importantly they have a goalie that could steal a couple games down the stretch that will most likely need. They also have the veterans presence that will come in handy as they know what they need to do to win those critical games.

I think Hamilton's performance is the most unexpected, I personally predicted them to finish last and them being in a playoff spot is very surprising, but i expect them to be gonezo by the end of the seasono

Which SHL rookie's performance has had the biggest influence on their team's performance so far (good or bad)?

Clint Eastwood has made a huge influence on the Pride this season. He's showing that he has what it takes to keep this team relevant for years to coooome.

Platoon Rob Wright Battleborn

I really think Robert Phelps has been one of the more important rookies this season. His stat line really says it all. He has 20 points in 23 games and isn't doing it one way with 11 assists and 9 goals. He's top seven on the team in shooting percentage and with top seven minutes he is playing a key role for the team. He is also top 4 on the team in points per 20 with 0.82. I think Robert Phelps has been the most impressive rookie
