Detroit Falcons

Yet another battle between Vancouver and Detroit happened this night. The teams have been each other opposites all season, Detroit has been battling for 2nd place while Vancouver has tried to fight their way from dead last. This is the second game of the season between them, Detroit won the first and Vancouver is trying to get revenge, as well as trying to get their 4th win of the season after only winning 3 on their opening 19 games.

Vancouver would surely go out hard and to everyones surprise Shaun Stephens scored his 4th of the season after only 14 seconds! Could you get a better start? Probably not.
Quick Mafs took a holding penalty at 5.24, sending Vancouver on the Powerplay where the magic number 14 would yet again show itself. Because Sven Brokstad scored after only 14 seconds of Power Play. So the goal was scored at 5.38. So that was a cool coincidence!

Detroit would put themself down a man yet again by rookie Tatu Mäkelä who got 2 minutes for slashing. They managed to fight through it though and the period ended 2-0 for Vancouver, who also outshot Detroit 11-4.

The second period would a more eventful period with lots of penalties and soem goals. It would be Vancouver that started the scoring yet again, going up to a 3-0 lead from Dick Skillstedt, scoring his 3rd of the season after 6:56. Detroit woke up though and despite being down one man, Kevin Marks scored a short hander to cut the lead by one halfway through. Connor Blackwell scored his 2nd of the season to cut the lead yet again 6 minutes later. The period ended 2-1 for Detroit, and the standing was 3-2 to Vancouver.

The third period was a tight period, Detroit got 1 powerplay and Vancouver got 2, but nobody scored.

Whalers 3-2 Falcons

<div align="center">Lavelle's Shmuck of the Game

Here we have a look at the third part of a 12 part series which focuses on identifying shmucks. What is a shmuck I hear you ask? Well according to wikipedia it's "one who is stupid or foolish, or an obnoxious, contemptible or detestable person".

Ben Turska

Turska spent a large chunk of time on the ice for the Falcons , a total of 23 minutes and 23 seconds. Unfortunately his time on the ice was pretty much a waste. He finished the game with the horrid stat line of -2 point differential, 3 shots and 1 hit. Turska spent most of the game hitting and hoping to no avail, his negative 2 differential also hurt the team in more ways than one and in the end the Falcons did end up losing out to the Whalers 3-2.

<div align="center">Crutchfield's Weird Stat of the Game

The Vancouver Whalers were on 9 power plays this game. Despite only outshooting the Falcons by 5 shots. Insane stuff. However, Quick Mafs was not hot on this night, as he took the most penalty minutes for his team with 4. The Falcons penalty kill unit was good, only surrendering one goal to Sven Brokstad. In the end, it wasn't enough as Dick Skillstedt scored the game winner just about 7 minutes into the second period. That's all she wrote for the Falcons on this knight. </div>
