So Whats the Purpose of the Tampering Rule? 
 
I dont get it. The vast majority of people juat talk about shit on discord or fb or teamspeak or other sim leagues or irl. Ive done it. Youve done it. Or maybe you dont have friends on here yet and havent but the vast majority have. 
 
So why just completely fuck an organization for someone making mistakes? Its maybe once been sinister? The rule doesnt prevent tampering. Only creates conflict. 
 
So if its useless and creates more arguments on a site that is already painful to read the forum of... why keep it? 
 
What is one benefit? 
Yes sports leagues have tampering rules. They have money on the line. 
We dont this is about fun. GMs should be clear to their guys and make em want to stay. If they cant then they leave. 
 
Being stuck in a contract you dont want leads to a) a trade demand (and irrational hate from the forum) or B) inactivity. 
 
Brain dead rule. Scrap it.

Actually , it's important to put the rule in against tampering . For the most part, people stick to the rule, and we have a league that is generally without tampering. There's no need to introduce tampering as a common thing when it's really not all that common .

Because it's fucking infuriating as a GM to have someone try to poach your players? It's hard enough keeping players from going inactive and getting bored with their players, we have to worry about other GMs messaging MY players to get them to come to their team? fuck that

If it's so damn harsh and everyone knows the punishment is so harsh... why the fuck do people still do it? It's easy to not tamper a player, truly the easiest thing. Don't fucking PM other team's players. Pretty simple but yet people do it KNOWING the punishment is harsh and the rules punishment is the problem?

Think about that.

It's been this way for ages. I don't know why there's now suddenly a different stance, but historically it's been that there's no exceptions and the punishment must be enforced despite the severity.... It's intentionally severe as to steer people away from it entirely. No one WANTS to hand out these punishments from the HO perspective....

Nah I get it, I'm being a jerk. That said, still prefer the SHL to be fairly tampering free compared to what could be.

what's the purpose of contracts? we should just get rid of those too and let everyone pick the team they want to go to each season.

No, the purpose of tampering rules is to allow for more parity in the league and allow teams to have control over their assets - especially rebuilding teams that may not have a whole lot going for them compared to some of the top teams. If we get rid of tampering, that's a major loss of control over players that brings about much more uncertainty whrn trying to fix the mistakes you or your predecessor(s) made. It doesn't allow as much room for GMs to sell their players on their vision or allow for teammates to bond as many players may already have one foot out the door the moment they're drafted. If tampering were actually removed I would instantly step down as GM and probably leave the league.

No GM wants people constantly trying to poach their players during the fucking season, no GMs want to spend all season not only trying to keep the players they have under contract, do lines, etc, but also fucking mid season just start approaching every player under contract to try and get them to sign for next season. There's a free agent discussion and signing period for a reason, that's when you can discuss and sign free agents.

Every league has tampering rules because it''s completely idiotic not to.

It's not that hard to not be a fucking idiot, just don't PM players on other teams about joining your team. It's really not that fucking difficult. If it's a trade, talk to the GM, if it's a free agent, make sure it's actually free agency time. Otherwise, simply don't fucking do it.

They have wait to leave in FA anyway that's totally irrelevant to tampering lmao. You can get tampered all you want but if you have a 3 season contract you still gotta wait out the 3 seasons before you can leave
