Russia JOIN TEAM RUSSIA! Russia

Federation Head: @Pris
Assistant Federation Head: @ztevans

Hello there!

There are 14 nations represented in our international competition (IIHF) to choose from when creating your player in the SHL.  No matter which one you choose, we hope you will find the international tournaments as exciting and enjoyable as we do.  It’s the one chance each season where you will get the chance to play with a group of people, playing in both the SHL and SMJHL, who will be your teammates for the entire duration of your career.

The beauty of this league is that you can be anyone from anywhere.  We hope you will consider Russia as the birthplace of your new SHL player.  Here are a few reasons why:

1 - An active and friendly locker room: Well, except for how much I pick on Pris.  But in seriousness, the Russian locker room is a place growing in activity, thanks to fresh new blood and a group of outgoing, welcoming site veterans with plenty of success and experience under their belts.

Need a place to ask that question you’re terribly afraid is a stupid one about the site?  We have hands-down some of the best human beings in the SHL, including none other than the Rookie Mentor head who just so happens to be our very own Mother Russia.

We even tolerate welcome total and complete nerds with open arms.

2 - A ‘golden rule’ for joining our team: It’s very simple.  If you create a Russian, you are welcomed into the locker room.  No waiting until you make the IIHF or WJC team.  No begging for acknowledgement.  Pris and I keep a close eye on player creations so we can invite you into the fold as quickly as possible so you can meet your future international teammates.  And if you think we’ve missed you, we’re just a PM away!

3 - Activity will be rewarded with playing time: The IIHF rulebook requires active players above certain TPE levels to be played over inactive players, users who have left the league for various reasons and no longer visit our site.  However, it has been tradition of the Russian team, dating back to when Pris and I were newcomers just like you, that active users play, regardless of TPE level.  Obviously, if we have more active users than roster spots, then decisions have to be made, but you will never be looked over for an inactive while playing for Russia.

Regardless of which nation you choose, we hope you enjoy your exciting new SHL career!
