Due to this being a genuine mistake resulting from a misinterpretation of an oddly written rule, the IIHF HO has decided to not apply the punishments as written in the IIHF rule-book due to this scenario not involving any malicious intent in the opinion of the HO upon reviewing the exchange between player and Federation Head.

In this case, the transfer will be struck down. Ignatius Blunt will remain unassigned and will be eligible for transfer upon the start of the S42 SMJHL Playoffs.

The rule-book has since been re-worded to avoid future problems of a similar nature.

I hope this stands as an example in the future so that no one goes punished needlessly and that alternative solutions are found.
