Holiday PT - Seasons Greetings!
#61

The Soonika house hold is an interesting one during the holiday time. While may people are celebrating common traditions such as eating, drinking, merriment and cheer the Soonika family has taken a unique take on the holidays. The Soonikas participate in the holiday known as Festivus. With the aluminum pole  adorned and airing of grievances finished it will be the Young Soonika who will be expected to perform the Feats of Strength with an unknown competitor. It is often a beautiful and magical time.

This year the Anaheim Outlaws have agreed to partake in the celebrations. Only time will tell who will be chosen as the challenger in this years Feats of Strength.

Traditionally Bill Umberger has celebrated the holidays with family. This typically involves delicious foods, the same stories shared among a close family for the hundredth time, and a family hockey game which always begins with good spirits and ends with many of Bill's older family members nursing some sort of injury.

This year marks a change of scenery for Bill who has moved across the US from his home in Maine all the way to Anchorage to join his new team. This year Bill is spending the holidays with his new teammates and is settling into his new home.

Barry Batsbak spends his holidays with his family and friends. Usually everyone is invited to join in the festivities at Barry's parents farm where they gather arround the fireplace and enjoy a nice meal shared with plenty of drinks. Barry's brother Steven is a semi-professional musician who plays on the guitar and piano, while everyone joins in on the singing.

This christmas is special though. Barry is now a drafted rookie for the Kelowna Knights and everybody stands still at this amazing achievement for the Batsbak family. Barry has bought a Knight's jersey for every family member with the name Batsbak and #18 that represents the draft year.

Barry and his family would like to wish everyone happy holidays and good luck in the upcoming season!

My first Christmas back in the States after some time was pretty uneventful. I just hung out with family. Some of the extended family came over to wish me the best for my upcoming rookie season in the SMJHL, but apart from that, nothing particularly exciting. I did manage to get a hold of some Lou Malnati's deep dish while in Chicago -- and that's all I need to make it a Merry Christmas.

As far as traditions go, we aren't the type of family that holds traditions. If my siblings are in town on the 23rd, that's when we do Christmas. If it isn't til the 30th that we can all get together, then we open presents on the 30th. The date itself doesn't mean as much to us as the camaraderie does.

Typically for the holiday season I head back to Mom and Dad's house with Anastasia (@Pris ), but this year it made sense to head back with Nikolai as we currently reside in Montreal together. As for tradition, I mean between Dad and Uncle Zach getting obliterated on egg nog to the point of shitting their pants, it is pretty typical. Ping pong tournament in which Mom typically dominates the old guys, while we all typically head out to the pond in the backyard for some competitive christmas morning puck. Us young ones have constantly gotten better and better, but perhaps next year is our year. Damn it Zach.

Quote:Written Option: Write 100 words about whatever your player typically does for the holidays - whether that's celebrating with family, spending it far from home for the first time, not doing anything because they don't do any of the usual holidays... whatever.

Ulrich usually spends his holidays in typical fashion. Together with his family and friends. The holiday is celebrated with piles of deliciously cooked food, drinks and presents for all. A new tradition which seems to be going to take place in the Ulrich residence is that of playing the Super Smash Bros games. With the recent release of Super Smash Ultimate, Ulrich was given this as a gift for christmas and him and his friends sent the rest of the night playing the ever living heck out of it. Something they plan to do every year now as it is one of the best games ever made.

Commander Shepard’s holidays are typically spent among his crew members. Between saving the galaxy and his new hockey career he is glad Christmas allows him a time to sit back and relax. Commander Shepard loves his Canadian Club and had a quite a few with both Garrus and Thane who gave him the best 100% Rye. Some of the appetizers served at the Crew party were the usual human dishes; Turkey, Stuffing, etc. and Turian and Asari exotic dishes.

After dinner as is tradition on the Normandy, a pick up hockey game was played between the crew members with a massive fight between Wrex and Grunt happening over a missed call. The day was topped of with the crew gifting Commander Shepard a hockey stick signed by the Moose.

O'Dowd spends his Christmas time with his family back in Boston. He sees his Mom and Dad, his uncles, and his many siblings, including his brother Michael, a former SMJHL player who never made it big. The whole family gets together at his parents house and have a big family breakfast with coffee cake, Cinnamon Buns, and a bunch of fruits. After that they all exchange their presents and watch the Christmas day Basketball games.
In the evening they have their 10lb honey baked ham, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and veggies. Once the family finishes eating the extended families say their goodbyes and head home, while Olin and his siblings all stay the night at their parents house.

Well, Anastasia and her brother Aleksi usually head back home to spend the holiday with their parents. However, her brother seems to have ditched tradition in favor of staying in Montreal and spending Christmas with his new teammate, childhood rival Nikolai Evans. Regardless, Anastasia has chosen to go home, as she is currently in Colorado and thus closer to the family bases in Winnipeg. She will enjoy a restful holiday break with her parents, her aunt and her uncle, without the hectic annoyance of two testosterone-driven teenage boys stomping around the house. With the adults' attention undivided, maybe she'll even be able to get a few extra hours of training defending against her mother and her uncle.

Dylan Karlsson loves Christmas. Last year he actually dressed up as Santa and handed out presents to local children in the hospital. He does this mainly due to it hitting close to home as his older brother Elias Karlsson was diagnosed with cancer and was forced to spend a lot of holidays at the hospital. His brother recently passed away battling with health issues and he plans on doing this every year in his honour. Now that he has some money he can do more than usual. He plans on also on buying new hockey equipment for less fortunate kids who can’t afford new equipment every time.

Kristoffer Matsson decided to spend his holidays in Halifax, for the first time ever away from home
An interruption to the vigorous schedule is unfathomable, as he seeks to improve himself for Sweden, Team Scandinavia and for Halifax.

He misses the cold Christmas mornings, the polar bear meet that is so customary for the Swedes, and julmust. This glorious invention and take on this soda is what brings warmth, happiness and peace to so many Swedes during these hard and testing times. None of this Matsson will share with his family this Christmas. His devotion to his craft is too important. Instead, he will spend his holiday working at a soup kitchen, for underprivileged hockey players. No more will they suffer, because is his kindness.

Alex Winters spent the Christmas holiday with his family. Considering the fact that he was moving up to the SHL, he invited his family to come from the Czech Republic to help him find a place to live in Manhattan. While they definitely spent time seeing the sights in New York, they spent a good amount of time getting him settled in his apartment and setting up Christmas decorations in his new place. Alex did leave for one evening to go to the Rage Holiday Party, meeting up with his teammates and hanging out with the younger members of the team and enjoying the view. All in all, it was a good holiday break for Alex and he enjoyed the rest before the second half of the season.

I'm an idiot ignore this

Around this time of year the Scholz' typically get together for some form of family get together, but now that both Nikolaus and Karlstraße are apart of the SHL (and by extension this SMJHL) they've had less time available for a trip back to Germany. Instead, this time around the family came out to Canada to take part in the Scholz' first North American Christmas celebration in the Albertan capital of Edmonton. Fortunately Kelowna is quite close to Nikolaus' hometown and it was just a brief flight. They held a massive feast on the 24th of December, followed by the lighting of 12 candles on their modest christmas tree and lastly the unwrapping of their gifts. Karlstraße received a new set of golf clubs and some socks, just want he wanted.

Thanks for the sig ragnar!
