Taking a good look at the St.Louis Scarecrows player roster heading into the preseason and it looks like Gordie Boomhover will have a decent chance at cracking the second line along with sophomores center Ty Hoover and right wing Nicolas Flemming or not?

Looking at the roster, there will not be much debate among the staff on what will be their first line. 4th year SMJHL playmaker Steven Moyer will center the line along with sniper forward Jerry Larry and Bernard Freeman. No questions about that. That's a great first line.

Line 1 prediction: Jerry Larry - Steven Moyer - Bernard Freeman

However, there will be definately some discussions going on who will be playing on line 2 and line 3. Two positions on line 2 will be filled by sophomores two-way forward center Ty Hoover and offensive right wing Nicolas Fleming.  That leaves the left winger position open. Here are 4 possible options:

LW Gordie Boomhover (rookie sniper, 198 TPE)
The scarecrows are thin at LW, that's not a secret. They only have 3 left wingers in their organization. There best option when solely looking at position and TPE is Gordie Boomhover.

LW Fork Spoon (rookie sniper, 169 TPE)
Fork hasn't impressed the staff so far, but the scarecrows could opt for Fork if they want a more balanced lineup, i.e improving their 3rd line. Honestly i don't see this happen though. 

RW Michael Fox (rookie playmaker 203 TPE)
Michael Fox has impressed the staff and leads the forward rookie group with 203 TPE. Along with his playmaking abilities this might convinced the staff to put him in line two.

RW  Tyler Tougard (rookie sniper 195 TPE)
Tyler Tougard TPE is a bit lower than Gordie Boomhover and Michael Fox. However he outscores them on positioning (70 Tyler, 68 1/2 Michael, 67 Gordie), which might be convincing enough for the staff to take him.

However who will be deciding factor in my opinion is rookie center Blaže Zukal. Although he is listed as a playmaker center, he actually likes to shoot (65) more than pass (60). Blaže needs a playmaker around him to make a more effective third line. Michael Fox seems to fill in that role the best. With that known the choice for the second line will be between Gordie Boomhover and Tyler Tougard. Gordie Boomhover edges out Tyler Tougard on scoring (74 versus 72), but with scoring right winger Nicolas Fleming (80) already in line two, it is safe to say Tyler Tougard will get a first chance at cracking line two.

Line 2 prediction: Tyler Tougard - Ty Hoover - Nicolas Fleming
Line 3 prediction: Gordie Boomhover- Blaže Zukal - Michael Fox
Line 4 prediction: Fork Spoon - Aleksi Leskinen - BOT?

This will be an interesting story to follow in the pre-season. What will be the staff eventually decide? To be continued..
