Peter Larson, goaltender for the Anchorage Armada, has had a strong preseason, making a quick impact for his team as he started all 50 games helping the armada to 28 wins. Although his performances were not always consistent and while at times the class and potential of the rookie were clear and apparent to all, like at his debut with. 92%save rate and a second period shutout to take the game out of reach, likewise was his inexperience, game 17 springs to mind where after a disaster first period Peter was subbed off and the last season starter almost managed to keep the team in the game. Stats wise Peter finished the preseason roughly in the middle of what is looking like a strong rookie goalie class.

The highlight of Peter’s preseason was a ten game stretch where the Amanda went 8-2 on the back of amazing performances by Peter, whose save% never dropped below 90% for the stretch. Asked during that period how he was feeling Peter instead talked about his increasing comfort in the Armada locker room, but also with the bond he is forming with his rookie goalie class. "I love having so many goalies that I can completely benchmark myself against" says Peter, "but also the trash talk and competitive rivalry really motivates me, shout out to all my rookie goalie 'buddies' ? but especially, Mike, Casimir, Jakub, and Yuri”

But wait. Six games into the season and Peter is on the bench again, and to make matters worse for the Armada, the incumbent, Hank Scorpio, doesn't seem to be helping the team at all! Defensive lines have been performing really well but the team has struggled to keep in some games in part because of some poorer performance from the starting goaltender. Peter is frustrated “The only thing worse than having a goal scored against you as a goalie is watching from the sidelines as a goal is scored against your team”.

So the big question is. When will Peter get his chance to prove that he can tend net for the Armada. And when will we start to be able to judge how Peter is progressing on his journey towards the greatest Dane.

Editor's note: between publishing deadlines and print deadlines Peter did make his debut, only letting one goal past and helping the Armada to a 6-1 victory over the Outlaws.
