Esa Anrikkanen Retires.
|
![]() Registered S27, S29, S32, S40, S42 Challenge Cup Champion & Parm King ![]() Well I’ve had the same player for almost exactly 5 years now. I joined the league on Feb 22nd 2014 after seeing a post on dobber hockey website. I figured hey I’m not doing much this winter might as well give this thing a shot. I wanted to create a player that was an off-shoot of my normal player I created in my NHL video games. I always created Esa Anrikkanen, a combination of my favorite player of all time Esa Tikkanen and my own last name. I decided to go with a sniper in the SHL because I was a defenseman in real life growing up, so my dream was obviously to score goals here. I made my player and got some help from JNH and Banack who were the first guys to message me on the site. They helped me a lot in that first season along with STZ and my first GM JayWhy. JY was my mentor in Detroit, like many of us wide eyed rookies when we first join we have a million questions, I asked JY a ton of them and he was always willing to help me out. He also gave me my first GM job in Detroit as his co-gm and later I was hired as their head GM, where I really found my calling in the league. That first season in junior was probably one of my favorites ever. I learned a ton about the league, player builds, the sim and all that good stuff. I was a sponge for knowledge and absorbed as much as I could. That first season was truly special and I fell in love with the league. I ended up being the leading point scorer in the SMJHL as a rookie, I won 2 mvp’s and like 6 total awards that season. I was hooked and pretty much never looked back. It was a big honor to later have the SMJHL Rookie of the Year Award named after Esa, that’s something I really value and appreciate. I was then drafted by Calgary after becoming close with O4L during scouting. He became my next mentor, I learned a ton from him about the SHL, lines, how to deal with players personalities, etc. He shared a ton with me and groomed me for eventually taking over the Dragons. Which I did in S24 as Head GM, finding my true passion for the league, but this is a player retirement presser so I’ll stay on track. Esa had a slow rookie season in S18 as a 350tpe player, I came up too soon, wish I had went back for a send down year but it was my decision to come up, I thought it was he thing to do at the time, I later learned I should have given my junior team and GM one more season. However, I managed to score 15 points and help Calgary make the post-season while learning a lot about how to build an effective player for the SHL. It took a couple seasons to develop but then Esa was off to the races and never looked back. I soon capped out in my build (this was on the old update scale) and became a consistent high end goal scorer for the Dragons for over 2 decades. I eventually was the highest tpe player in the league for 6 straight seasons, capping out at 2008tpe, the first to achieve that milestone. Yep I was an animal back then. Eventually the Parm King storyline was born and I really had a lot of fun with that. Food is always something everyone can get on board with and the fact that some people here may think of Esa when they order a chicken parm in real life makes me warm inside. It's completely snowballed and now Calgary is synonymous with chicken parms. Pretty amazing lol. Esa won 5 cups and was a key player in the S27, 29, 32 cup runs. I was Razov finalist as Playoff MVP and #1 star of the game 7 in a cup finals win. I was also good contributor in the S40 and S42 cup runs. I also performed well in the S33 and S38 finals that were close losses. I’ve played in 7 cup finals and a lot of playoff games. I’d imagine if we had complete stats from those early indexes I’m probably a top 5 all-time playoff point scorer. Throughout my career I am proud of say I never double shifted myself or made the team all about Esa. I was a team player and my team’s success was always more important to me that individual success or accolades. Of course I always did well, but we had a lot of great players an I wanted them to all score points, enjoy their experience and for us to win multiple championships. That’s exactly what we did and I’m very proud of it and how I managed my career as a player on and off the ice. Respect and class was always something I prided myself on and I’m happy to say over 5 years I think I have made a lot of friends here and earned people’s respect as a member, player and GM. It’s hard to think about not having Esa Anrikkanen the player anymore, I will still be Esa Anrikkanen the GM, but the player’s time has come to an end. S46 will be the last season for the Great Esa Anrikkanen. There’s a lot to be happy about when I look back on my playing career. Made some great friends while having a ton of fun in the league. Won 5 Challenge cups. Became the first player to reach 2,000tpe, the first to score 400 goals, the only to score 500 goals, the first to break McKeil’s 926 point record and one of just two players to score over 1,000 SHL points, not to mention all the powerplay points, the 10 IIHF Medals and probably holding the IIHF record for most career points also. It was nice to be honored with the Kain Webb Trophy as the league's hardest working player in S20 as well. ![]() ![]() Goals: 500 - #1 All-Time Assists: 539 - #5 All-Time (1 behind Taylor McDavid) Points: 1039 - #1 All-Time PPG: 112 - #1 All-Time (Tied w/Eriksson) PPA: 159 - #4 All-Time PPP: 271 - #2 All-Time +/- + 200 - #5 All-Time PIM: 841 Blocks: 248 Shots: 4620 - #1 All-Time Hits: 2020 - #24 All-Time Minutes Played: #2 All-Time The 5 championships is what I’m most proud of though and winning them with all my great teammates. Especially the same group of 5, Randleman, Pedersen, Boychuk and Mack. The 5 of us winning 5 cups together on the same team is probably a record that will never be broken. That’s a pretty amazing accomplishment as a group and a testament to the Dragons dynasty that spanned 2 decades. Our team was always a contender for the majority of Esa’s career. I could not have asked for a better sim league career as a player. It’s really been special and 5 years is a long time, its honestly felt like a real hockey career. Which is one of the things that makes the SHL so great. Your career on your terms. I’m happy with my career and it’s finally the right time for Esa to hang up the skates. Genuine thank you to everyone’s who played with me in Calgary, Detroit, Finland and to anyone’s who been a fan of Esa or enjoyed his storyline. I appreciate you all very much. I really love this league and many of our members. ![]() ![]() ![]() A few heart felt shoutouts because that’s how I roll: @O4L - You drafted me to the Dragons, helped me develop, mentored me and taught me a ton as a player and a GM. You handed Calgary over to me a long time ago and I can’t thank you enough for giving me an opportunity that I have grown to love. I would not want to experience the league any other way but as a Dragon Player/GM and you made that all possible. Thank you. @c00kies - My teammate of 28 seasons with 3 different players and my co-gm of 23 seasons! We’ve done some great things with the Dragons and are the longest tenured GM combo in the league and I think even in history. We work great together, you always know the right things to say in those pressure situations during the playoffs and you’ve always been all about the team and have stepped in whenever called upon and done a fantastic job. You’re my boy. Thank you. @JayWhy - You drafted me in Detroit that first year, you took a shot on Esa and while I wish I gave you more than 1 season, you were always there to help me and offer your advice. You gave me my first job as a gm in the league with Detroit, you taught me a ton about the sim and player builds. Information I still use to this day. Thank you JY. It’s been nice keeping in touch with some SHL trades now that you’re GM in Manhattan. Best of luck with the team. @mstuk41 - My teammate of 20+ seasons and best friend irl. You joining this league back in S20, or should I say me convincing you to join.. has made it that much more special for both of us. We have enjoyed it all together, we set records together as players. We’ve had a ton of fun in the room and even got to enjoy a cup run in real life, checking the sims when you were in town visiting. All awesome times, thanks for making one of the best players ever in Nicholas Pedersen and now building Nicky Pedersen jr. Looking fwd to another 20+ seasons together, thanks buddy. Yurbaw. @Slappydoodle - I’m taking credit for recruiting you because I recruited Bonk and knew you would soon follow. Having you in this league has been incredibly fun. Another good friend irl, we have been able to enjoy and talk about the league every time we hang out. It’s brought us closer and I really value that and being able to experience this together. Now we have you in Calgary and can finally be on the same team. There’s a nice level of ball breaking between us in the room also and that’s always fun for everyone. Your first player McDoodle was great and I hope we can help Driftwood be even better, actually he is already better because he’s won a cup! You’re always team first, you do whatever I ask and I can’t thank you enough for the example you set and how you represent us around the league. Thanks pal. @Bonk - You’re still on Winnipeg, one of my good friends irl, I should probably get a code of conduct award for never tampering you away lol. Sometimes it’s hard but I managed to control myself around you. Anyway, I remember recruiting you for Detroit back in the day, you never said a single word in the locker room in 3 seasons, not even when we won the cup! Now you can’t stop talking on your podcast, what a turn of events! Having you here has been awesome, much like with slappy, anytime we hang out it’s all SHL related and has made the experience that much more fun. I love that you’re so involved in this league, even with how often you burn me in your hilarious PT’s. Don’t ever change buddy. @Ballerstorm - My first ever draft pick as Calgary GM. We took you 1st overall and I remember being slightly concerned you were a 1st gen and may not work out, but you impressed me so damn much in scouting that I had to take you. Boy did you deliver! You became one of the all-time greatest players in league history, a 2 time MVP and 5-time cup champion. You were a key player in our dynasty, you worked hard and helped with so much team stuff back in your hayday, I can’t thank you enough. You’re an awesome person and a fantastic Dragon. One of the best friends I’ve made on the site, thank you for being you. Come back and recreate plz. @DollarAndADream - Big Game Boychuk! All-time leader in defenseman points in dragons history and one of the top few D +/- ratings in league history. You were an incredible defenseman who never got enough credit around the league, but that’s was never a big deal for you. Boychuk always was a team first guy, did whatever we needed, just wanted to win. We did a lot of winning together! You were always amazing in the room and on the ice. A leader, a good friend, we’ve had some awesome times together and I’m really happy we got to experience it all. Thank you for everything. Looking forward to Choybuk! @Wongy – One of the best goalies to ever play the game. We worked so hard together to win those 3 cups. You thought you were cursed but we broke it and then some! Having you in Calgary to lead our dynasty was something special. Awesome on the ice but even better in the room, even though we could never talk about your success for fear of jinxing it lol. One of the better friends I have made on the site, I’ve truly enjoyed all our talks being teammates for so long. You’re a Dragons legend, thanks for everything pal. @NUCK - Long time SHL buddy. I first drafted you in Detroit because you seemed cool and had rainbow trout in your sig. Little did I know you’d become one of my good friends on the site. We had a lot in common in real life. You are a steelhead fisherman and there’s only few in the league, so right there you are special. You were awesome for me in Detroit, we won a cup there, then you eventually found your way to Calgary where we won 2 cups and you became league MVP from the blue line. You were always a great player and active member in the room, I love having you in Calgary. I will never forget you winning the cup with your son that one season. Was awesome. Thanks for everything, we’ll still try and go fishing together one day. @Mook - Another great friend made through the SHL. I remember drafting you in Detroit and you were a beast. You soon became my co-gm and we won a cup together as managers and even were GM’s of the year that season. I later handed the reigns to you in Detroit and you did a fantastic job. Eventually we got you to Calgary with Tommy Creller and we won a cup, then another with Casey Creller. It’s been awesome and of course we share a love of steelhead fishing as well, which makes you one of my all-time favorites! Thanks for everything man. @JKortesi81 – Another legendary dragons draft pick, one of the best ever and somehow stole you at pick 12. You were amazing for this franchise from day 1, your passion and love for the league kept me driven to keep us on top. I’ve never had a player that wanted to win and be an mvp more than you, we accomplished your goals together, we got along great. You always kept us relevant and pushed me to adapt to the new ways of the league like discord and I appreciate that. You were basically another co-gm for almost 10 seasons, your scouting and draft advice was a big reason we ended up with some great players and kept the dynasty going. You’re one of my best friends on the site and I really appreciate you, thanks pal. @thedangazone – Yet another legendary Dragons draft pick and maybe the most un-selfish player I may have ever managed. Always a top tier tpe earner but would play anywhere we needed you to. We had so much fun together in Calgary and became great friends. You rocketed your way up the league and have done a great job in all your roles. You were a fanstastic Dragon, helped me so much with management stuff and of course scouting and making awesome excel sheets. We could not have stayed on top without your help so thank you. Also I will never forget when we won that S40 cup and it was just you and I online at 6am celebrating together. One of my best memories in the league. Thanks for everything. @ @Your Mothers Favorite Goalie – Hock! The heir apparent to Wongy, you led us to 2 cups as the starter and have always been an incredible teammate. A top 3 all-time Dragons goalie no question! We’ve had lots of fun in the room and we’ve managed to hook up in a couple different leagues and win championships as teammates there also! I’d say we have a pretty good thing going in the sim world. You’ve always been a team guy, we worked great together as Goalie/GM combo and I can’t thank you enough for everything buddy. @BarnabasCollins – My amazing hand picked recruit who excelled to great heights in the SHL. One of the best people I’ve met online also. We’ve talked so much about food and have so much in common I think we may be long lost brothers. Always wanted to get you to Calgary with Vlad Lidstrom, but happy to finally have you here with Kata Vilde. You’ve been incredible in our room and are a big leader here. An in-valuable part of the Dragons experience, don’t ever change! We’re going to do some great things together. @Alex Mack – Your media is legendary, always makes me laugh. You’ve also won 6 cups with me, 1 in Detroit and then the 5 in Calgary. I can honestly say I have never won anything without Alex Mack on the team. You’re my key! Great player to coach, you always do your work and never care where you play. You were playoff MVP in S27 for the Dragons and are one of our all-time leading scorers in history. Definitely a Dragons legend, thankyou for everything. @Ghost – You came here with Adam Kaiser and immediately put us over the top for a cup in S40. Great guy in the room and awesome player on the ice. You stayed with us since then and I’m glad you could call Calgary home. It’s been a pleasure having you on the team as long as we did. I also enjoy you beating me in online chess every week lol. Let me win one please! @Ohtaay – Was so stoked to be able to draft you. Great addition to the team and the locker room. We’ve already won 2 cups together and you’re not even close to regression yet. You still pop in now and then to say hello. Also I’ll never forget that college trip video you posted with those girls in bikini’s jumping in a lake. Keep living the dream buddy! @ej27 – You came to Calgary in a trade and quickly became one of our most popular members. Such a great person, so much fun in the room and you were huge in helping us win that S42 Cup. I’m really happy we got to be on a team together. You’ve brought so much enjoyment and humor to our locker room. We’re all happy you didn’t get killed at that dinner party. @Weretarantula – The next big thing in Calgary, you’ve been absolutely awesome since we drafted you, fit in perfect, more than we could have ever hoped for when we called your name in the 1st round. I really look forward to what the future holds for you in the league and as a Dragon. We’re going to do big things together and you will be a huge part of that and a leader for us for a long time. Keep killing it. @Thunder39 – Dragons 1st round draft pick, you made good on your promise to keep working hard to help this team and you’ve become an awesome player for us. Now riding shotgun alongside Izzy as one of the top 2 offensive guys on our team. You’ve always been team first, all about the team and have done whatever we asked of you. You’re also clutch in the playoffs and were key in the S40 and S42 cup runs. Awesome for the room as well, good dude, really happy to have gotten to know you on here. Keep being great. @Nike -True league veteran and former GM of Manhattan, Chuck Goody Sr was a legend player and I was so happy we could draft you in Calgary with Chuck Goody Jr! You’ve always been awesome in the room and became a good buddy. Was happy we could win 2 cups together in Calgary. Always love when you pop back in to say hello. @Eggy216 – What a beast you became. I still remember your rookie season in the Detroit locker room, was so much fun! You were always destined for greatness in this league and it was fun to be the talk of the league together as GM’s and players back when Calgary or New England won the cup 6 times in 7 seasons lol. We always remained friendly and I’ve admired how you handle yourself and the workload as commissioner. Now we finally get to be teammates and I’ve very excited for that. Great times ahead my friend. Big Thank You for everything you do for this league! We would not be where we are today without Eggy. @TML99 – Newly acquired Dragon, you’ve come in and been friendly and got back to updating your player. I look forward to the future and seeing what you can do with Calgary and getting to know you better. @dizzyDC – An S40 Dragons cup champion on one of the best teams ever. Thanks so much for coming to play with us that season, you were great on the ice and in the room. I wish you stayed a bit longer but we won that cup and that’s what matters. I was stoked to see you have a giant season this year and hopefully will win MVP. @Insayne – You were a stud on the ice and always active in the room. We won a cup together and you were a team player that’s season switching to pass first, that made a big difference for us. You’ve remained active in our room and I am happy you won more cups with WKP. You were always honest with me about what you wanted with your player and I appreciate that. Keep enjoying the league buddy. @Wally – It’s been really great getting to know you better since we drafted you a few seasons back. You fit in our room perfectly and I’m happy we could help rekindle your passion for the SHL. You love food and even for a skinny guy you have my respect. I wish we could draft your current player, but blame it on Vilde, he’s too good. Best of luck though, keep killing it, glad to always keep you in our room. @Copenhagen – My old friend, a great Dragons draft pick, we had a lot of fun while you were active with Shane Gagner. You made us some great graphics and were one of our captains for years. We also won a cup in Detroit with your first player. We had some great talks about life and our similar hobbies over the years. I hope life is treating you well and your newborn baby finally stopped crying. @Dmoushey_31 – PLL. What a great dude, you’ll never see this, but I loved playing with you Calgary. You were a true star and team player. Always did everything we asked of you, glad we could win a cup or two together. Hope to see you back one day. @Jala - Zoidberg! Love you buddy, we won a few cups together in Calgary with Esa and Zoidberg, you were always cool and in it for the team. I hope you get back to activity because I’d bring you back to Calgary in a second. Thanks for everything, if you ever see this. @Rublic – One of the best players I ever coached, such a good dude. I hope you have won that mustache championship you always wanted. Come back one day pal. @Caillean – You were a big player for us back in the day and key in us winning a few cups. You also had no problem going to battle for us on the boards. Hope you come back one day and stir shit up again! @The_Mazais @Le_Kris – My little Latvian buddy who joined the league on the same day as me back in 2014. We got drafted to Detroit together, we were linemates together in Detroit and later in Calgary. You were so much fun, we talked a lot and you taught be about Latvia and Shashlik, I will never forget that lol. We won a couple cups in Calgary as well, always enjoyed having you on a team and glad we became friends. @kikish18 -Labsvards – The first Latvian Captain to win a cup when we won in S27, you were always awesome in the room and had a legendary dragons player. We’ll get you in the hall soon don’t worry. @Ferdy – We won 3 cups with Fernando Pergher on the team, you were a good defenseman for us and a great part of our locker room in the early days when I first became in GM in Calgary. I was happy to see you come back and recreate recently. Hope you stick around to make another cup champion! @STZ – My teammate from my SMJHL draft year back in Detroit in S17, I learned a lot from you and always enjoyed chatting about builds. You were definitely a member I leaned on in that first season and we had some fun un VHL after that as well. @Jogurtaa – Another of my favorite Latvians. Bad Accents podcast is always a fun listen. We were also in the same draft class together back in S18. One of the few people who is still around from that class when you had Oliver Pettyfer I think. Always wanted to get you to Calgary. I’m also happy LB has not chained you up in his basement yet! Be careful! @LB. – Oh hey there his, disregard what I said above lol. My Latvian buddy who won a cup with me in Detroit. We’ve had a lot of fun at various times over the years in different leagues. You’re always hilarious and I hope to eat shashlik with you one day! @Wasty – One of the GM’s I remember messaging me a lot in my rookie season, we became friendly in those first few months in the league and we’ve always managed to get along well, even with you hating Calgary’s success and sometimes derailing over it, lol. All good brother, you’re a great GM, only one who’s been around longer than me, you work hard and run a good program in LA. I also appreciate the gfx work you’ve done for me over the years. Sorry we didn’t use your logo, it really was awesome, I’m too particular, but I appreciate your time, thanks my man. @vbottas17 – Always a good guy to talk to and we’ve had some fun in trade talks. Was always a fan of your players and you’ve been a great member for the league and carry yourself well as a co-gm for LA. Keep it up buddy. @GoB – Come back to us Gifter! Had so much fun listening to the Klosecast back in the day, GoB was impressive on the mic and loved this league. Always wanted to get to play together when you stepped down from Seattle, but never got the chance. Hope life is treating you well and you found success as a writer wherever you are. @teztify – Long time GM of Edmonton and one of the best ever. We had a lot of great match ups over the years while you were at the helm. You’ve always been someone I respected greatly. Your communication and class was always top notch. You set a great example for young GM’s to follow and often than goes unappreciated, so thanks man. @Leafs4ever – Someone I respect a lot even though I know you hate Calgary and probably still hold a grudge from my draft year. Still feel bad about that, but I was a new member and didn’t really know any better at the time. I do now, but hey it all worked out for us both in the end, Onoprienko was a stud and you guys won some cups together. I’ve always looked up to how you conducted yourself as a GM and then later always took notice of the great players you built. Thanks for doing what you do for this league, it’s appreciated. @JackCross – You’ll never see this pal, but we had a to of fun during your career. We were both in the s18 draft and were friendly rivals in SMJHL and later the SHL. Always a good time chatting it up with you and life and the sim. Loved that we got to play together for Finland in the IIHF. Esa and Ono were a deadly combo! Hope you are well wherever you are. Crutch @"ligma" – Always thought you did a great job as co-commish for the league and probably never got enough credit, so thank you. We never got to play together but I’ve always thought you’d be a good teammate. @gerarob - Ricebowl – You were always a fan of Esa, we’ve had some fun times joking around in the league. Good guy, glad you came back around and recreated, although I can’t think of your new player name atm lol. Your last one was a legend though. Also I think you were just named co-gm in new England, congrats. @Zoone16 – Another fan of Esa, always appreciated it, we’ve become friendly from SCOR and maybe I’ll get to play for you in the SMJHL! Was always a fan of Light during his career as well. @Ace – Good guy Ace. I know you creep my lines and try and be like Esa, you’ve done well. We always have good talks and joke around. You’re a stand up GM, great member and you work hard, lots of respect. I’m always rooting for you to do well, especially that you’re back in the east. Good luck, keep it up pal. I expect you to be in the playoffs every year in that mashed potato conference of yours. Don’t let me down. @ErM – I still can’t believe I recruited you over here from NSFL and we somehow didn’t get you, now look at you, one of the studs of the league. I knew you’d be a beast here, you were too good too fast lol. You should have been worse so we could have gotten you in the draft. I’m happy you have enjoyed the league though and brought so much to it with your great media, etc. Now stop being so good for Edmonton plz thank you. @.Bojo – Everytime I hang out with slappy in real life he mentions how great you are. I think he has a picture of you over his bed. Anyway, I remember when you first joined and created Bojo Buscuit, you’ve did so much for this league in your time here, the SHL has gotten a lot better since you joined. All the little things and work you do for the league is much appreciated. One of the best people to ever join here and you managed a great team in WKP all those years also. Thanks for all you do for the SHL buddy. @ToeDragon84 – How toedragon is not on the dragons still baffles me. We had fun talking in your draft year, I know you wanted to be here but you were too good and we couldn’t get you. Stop being so good please, thanks. I know you’re a fan of my Kate Upton boob sig, I have to admit it’s a good one lol. You’ve been a beast of a player, happy to see you do good things in the league. @ztevans – Good guy Zach, fan of nascar and always a fan of Esa. One of the more friendly people I’ve met on here. You’ve done a lot of good work for the league in various roles. Always giving good input on topics and obviously you made a great player for Winnipeg. Hope we get to play together one day but I’m pretty sure you’re going 1st overall this time around so we probably never will. @RomanesEuntDomus - Roman Eats Donuts, I still say that to myself everytime I see your name. You’re a legendary member and someone I modeled my game after when I first started here. David Winter was a mentor of sorts for me. You’ve done a lot of great stuff in your career here. Also you always find a way to communicate your ideas sensibly and when I read through a thread you have already said what I want to say so I don’t even have to post lol. Esa and RED’s ideas line up a lot and respect you a ton. Hope to play together one day. We worse or mean to Wasty so I can trade for you, thanks. @raymond3000 – What a legend and pure class member. I have a ton of respect for you just from how you carry yourself and the players you develop in this league. It’s an honor to share the 1k point club with you and I am genuinely happy you got there first. It was an exciting race and probably the quietest race in history lol. We’re both too nice to talk trash, but it was a lot of fun and I’ve always been a fan of Kristian Eriksson. Good luck with the new player, I’m sure he’ll be another legend. @xDParK – When I first joined the league Chico Salmon had just gone 1st overall in the SHL draft. I remember wanting to be like you and using your player as a mentor for mine. Always looked up to big Chico Salmon in my early days. You later became commish and did a great job. We’ve always been friendly and you’re a former Dragons GM and always supported Calgary. Hope we get to bring you here one day. @Zombiewolf – Long time updater of Calgary and the best one we’ve ever had. You always get it done and we communicate well. Please don’t ever stop being our updater. I really appreciate all the work you do for us. Thanks a lot brother. @JR95 – We’ve made some good trades together between WKP and CGY these last handful of seasons. You’ve been very successful in a short period of time, you run a good ship over there. Keep up the good work man. @Grapehead - You've done a great job with San Francisco, we've had some fun trade talks, keep up the good work. @dankoa - You're doing good work in Texas, we've had some good talks, maybe one day we will make a trade! @Keygan @karlssens - Congrats on the cup in Edmonton, hell of a season fellas. @JSS - Good luck with Tampa buddy! Keep up the good work. @jRuutu – My long time Finland teammate, we’ve always fun in the IIHF room and even though I was devastated to see you just re-sign with Edmonton, I had to get you on here. @Muerto – I remember looking up to Riko Muerto back when I first started. I think we may have played in IIHF together as well, but my memory is foggy. You’re a league legend though and have made some great players. I also remember using your PBP’s as a guide for mine back when I did pbp’s in the 20’s. Always a fun read. Glad you’re still around, hope we get to play together one day. @Chris-McZehrl – I remember when I first joined there was this crazy german guy blowing up the boards. You definitely are unique and have a true passion for the league. I’m glad we could have won a cup together in your short time in Calgary. You’ve always made great players. Happy to see you still at it with another McZehrl, best of luck. @ArGarBarGar – You’re probably surprised to see yourself included in this, but you were one of the better players around during majority of Esa’s career so you get a shoutout. We played a lot of games against each other. Congrats on a great career and finally winning that elusive cup with Minnesota. Best of luck with your new player. @Durden – We had some good match ups over the years with Texas and Calgary. I remember always having to game plan for you in the playoffs. I was happy to see you get those Texas records you wanted. You’re a long standing SHL veteran and deserve recognition. Wish you luck with the new player! @BigTittySmitty – My former captain in Detroit when we won the cup in S23. We had some fun back then and while we never we able to play in the SHL together, you’ve always been a good member who I’ve enjoyed talking with. Also one of the best usernames out there. @Evok – Thank you for simming and all your hard work for the league. Right up there with JackCross and JayWhy as some of the best we’ve had in that role. ---- Ok that’s enough for now.. I’m sure there’s people I’ve forgotten to include in this also. 5 years is a long time. We really do have a great community here. Apologies if I forgot anyone who felt they should have been included. My brain is pretty much fried after writing all these. Big Thanks to everyone! ![]() TLDR: Esa had a legendary career, I did some cool things and met some great people. Thanks. Yes I’m retiring my player and re-creating. This is the lasting image I hope everyone remembers Esa by... ![]() ![]() Code: 6,400 Words ---> ParmBorg Highlights <---

End of an era, pretty incredible.
Also I feel like a dick for not making a list of all the members I had to thank. Appreciate being included and props to taking the time to give shout outs to so many people.

That feel when ESA tags the whole league and you don't see your name. :(
Jk, congrats on reshaping the league and making Calgary the most hated franchise ever. ![]() |
