Scarecrows Scarecrows Scarecrows Welcome, Ladies and Gentlemen, to the 45th Annual St Louis Scarecrows Team Award show! Scarecrows Scarecrows Scarecrows

I’m your host, Mattie Brunton, and I’m honoured to be chosen to hand out these awards tonight! With another great season under the belts, GM Ryan King & Co-GM Joe Kurczewski deserve a ton of credit for putting together a second consecutive Four Star Cup winning season.

Now, without further ado, lets move onto the part you’re all here for, the awards! We are starting strong with the Kanye Summers Award For Regular Season MVP.

And the winner is…

Bernard Freeman!

RW | Bernard Freeman GP: 50 | G: 19 | A: 23 | PTS: 42 | +/-: 4 | PIM: 14 | HIT: 62

Bernard Freeman entered his third season with St Louis aiming to better his already impressive 35 point sophomore season, and he did just that. Putting up career bests in goals, assists (and therefore, points), Bernard proved not only to himself, but to the entire league that he is a player to be feared.

Congratulations Bernard! Now, moving swiftly on, the next award of the night is the Michael Haan Award for the Most Dedicated Player. Drumroll please…

your Season 45 most dedicated player is...Slip McScruff!

[Image: j79hOU_2LX6MvlGNC3VTj4sxDzmsfehX42MvSpPb...ICnQGcm_Mg]

D | Slip McScruff GP: 50 | G: 0 | A: 18 | PTS: 18 | +/-: 2 | PIM: 38 | HIT: 87 | SB: 39 |

Slip McScruff went into his second season with one goal in mind - to improve in every facet of the game, and he succeeded! With a full season under his belt and an impressive improvement in his defensive abilities, Slip went from strength to strength, putting up an 18 point season while being a popular character in the dressing room. There is no more deserved winner than Slip McScruff!

@Scrufdaddy

Congratulations Slip! Now, next up we have The Marian Potoczny Award for Best Two Way Forward.

And the winner is….Ty Hoover! Round of applause for Ty Hoov, ladies and gents!

C | Ty Hoover GP: 50 | G: 11 | A: 29 | PTS: 40 | +/-: 4 | PIM: 37 | HIT: 63 | SB: 8 |

Much like McScruff, Hoover was another player going into his sophomore season looking for not only a jump in production, but a jump in role and value to the team and boy did he find it this year. Anchoring the centre of a formidable top line, Ty regularly found himself matched up with oppositions best players night after night and not only did he manage a staggering 40 points (a huge increase on his rookie production) but he played a key role on both the Power Play and the Penalty Kill. Congratulations Ty!

The awards continue racing on, and next up is the Ondrej Ravchitikov Award for Best Defenceman. Boy do I hope I pronounced that right!

Your best defender in season 45 is...Helmuts Akmenlauks. Congratulations Helmuts!

D | Helmuts Akmenlauks GP: 50 | G: 10 | A: 30 | PTS: 40 | +/-: 4 | PIM: 42 | HIT: 39 | SB: 37

Finishing his fourth season with an impressive 40 points, Akmenlauks bounced back hugely after a disappointing 11 point outing in season 44. The veteran blue liner lead the team in assists and was a veritable rock at the back. We wish Helmuts all the best moving forward in his career and what a way to end your final season as a crow!

Next up we honour the best forward with The Bradley Wingels Award

[Image: r3bGCqQSDhU-52OkBVmF6XsoCJNbIQ6xFxctFiz_...ZTzm7P_vaJ]

Taking home his second piece of silverware (goldware?) of the night is Bernard Freeman!

RW | Bernard Freeman GP: 50 | G: 19 | A: 23 | PTS: 42 | +/-: 4 | PIM: 14 | HIT: 62

Bernard is going to run out of space to store all these trophies if the rest of his career continues on this trajectory! What more can we say other than he played a phenomenal year and we’re happy and proud to say he was a crow.

@Allen

Coming up next is the award for the foundational piece of any team, the goaltender! The winner of the Jermaine Tennyson Award for best goaltender is...Aleister Cain!

[Image: -DljQcIp5HiNmtXCi-OE9w1g7ZUsQxfF5B-ggcUg...X8zRVrkJ94]

G - Aleister Cain GP: 34 | W: 18 | L: 13 | OTL: 1 | PCT: 0.894 | GAA: 2.76 |GA: 87 | SV: 733 | A: 0 | SO: 1 |

Everyone knows the SMJHL can be a frighteningly high scoring league at times, and as such I can confidently say that playing goaltender in it is a terrifying prospect. Aleister Cain put up stellar numbers and thrived in what is a seriously high pressure environment. Cain finished his Crows career with an impressive 18 win season under his belt. Congratulations Aleister on your impressive year!

Now we will be rewarding the season 32 playoff MVP with the Jarkko Kallestrom Award. After a phenomenal post season that saw them lift the Four Star Cup, your playoff MVP is Nicolas Fleming!

[Image: zrjnupf_NfcnLIALaumT8MES-iG-242-P3rkzwre...mXfbNej9Dv]

RW | Nicolas Fleming GP: 16 | G: 9 | A: 8 | PTS: 17 | +/-: 5 | PIM: 4 | PPP: 6

Putting up over a point per game in the playoffs is no mean feat. You have to remain cool as a cucumber under pressure and make sure you bring 100% every night. Nicolas did that night in, night out. On top of that, Fleming put up an impressive 11 of his 17 points at even strength, meaning he was dominating defences game after game.

Next up is the long running tradition of honouring the most active player in the Locker Room. This is an award to honour those that we just can’t shake out of the locker room...only kidding! This award is for those who go out of their way to help, who bring positivity, fun and enjoyment into the St Louis Scarecrows locker room day after day. He commands respect and gives it in return. The winner of this years Luke Riggs Award for Most Activity in the LR is...Gordie Boomhoover!!!

[Image: Z2SQTUR2ENxrQKpuod2YBxbUHFZ3ySAc8T1QUCj8...Q3GwtfoffQ]

A massive congratulations to Gordie who we hope will continue to provide a smashing atmosphere into season 46.

This next award honours the fresh blood, the young, hungry and vibrant rookies of the team. It’s my honour to present the Vladmir Bodnar award for Best Rookie Season to...centre Tyler Tougard!

[Image: SIAc0p2a-tfghQBxo1Sm3s7ahhRHyNag0rFfoKc1...pVLArk0PNO]

C - Tyler Tougard GP: 50 | G: 11 | A: 18| PTS: 29 | +/-: -2 | PIM: 10 | HIT: 23 |

Tyler had a huge year, putting up an impressive 29 points in 50 regular season games while anchoring the third line with line mates Rainbow Dash and Michael Fox. With a massive start like this under his belt, the sky really is the limit for this talented youngster.

@Durden

Our final award of the night is just as important as any other - it honours those that go above and beyond the call of duty for the St Louis Scarecrows team. Whether that be helping out the rookies, or talking builds with veterans, this guy is there to help. It’s my pleasure to present the winner of this years Tigole Dizzy Augustus Award of Excellence (try saying that five times fast!) to Slip McScruff!

[Image: 7BDlQEl_VUh1aSt48QaOSCNnIjn6HMWY2vD97gza...A2-gaMoXIq]

Congratulations Slip on picking up your second award of the night!

Now, sadly, this brings us to the end of the St Louis Scarecrows season 45 awards show. It’s a bittersweet moment as it means we say goodbye to some long standing veterans of the team, but we look forwards to a bright season 46 with a brand new group of rookies looking to make their marks.

From everyone here in St Louis, we wish the best of luck to every player for the coming season.
