Big thanks to the updating team who worked really hard getting all this weeks big unbanking updates done!

Now thanks to their hard work the player updates are done in the index.

Please refresh the index and look over your team/player to make sure it looks correct.

Most line combinations are still not in as GM's now have some time to get these set how they want them.

IIHF Starts Tomorrow!

NEW GROUP A: IrelandUsaUkGermanyCanadaRussiaJapan
NEW GROUP B: AustriaLatviaCzechoslovakiaFinlandnorwaySwedenSwitzerland
Tomorrow (Wednesday June 5th) we will be starting up the S47 IIHF tournament! The first sims will be at 11:00 AM EST. Each country will face every team in their division twice in the round robin tournament. They do not play any cross division games. In the magical sim world this tournament lasts 25 days long. 5 days will be simmed each morning and the top 4 of 7 in each division will advance to the Medal Round!

Last year Ireland defeated the United Kingdom to win Gold and Latvia beat Austria for the Bronze. Here is a look at last year's best Round Robin players:

Tomorrow's Big Games:

Sim Day 1:

Getting us kicked off with the first game of the tournament is Czechoslovakia Czechia hosting Finland Finland! This is a fun match up as last year these two teams were in opposite groups. Both teams went 7-5 last year but Finland failed to make the Medal Round due to a tiebreaker with Canada. They have a strong roster and will no doubt be looking to make it back to the medal round this season. Last season star defenseman Tatu Mäkelä led them with 3 goals and 13 assists for 16 points in 12 games. Czechia did make the playoffs in their group last season but were bounced in Round 1 to Latvia. This Czechia squad is really hungry for more and this will be a great test for both clubs. They are led by one of the best and hottest players in the world right now DeMaricus Smyth who had 8g, 8a last year in the 12 game round robin.

Sim Day 2:

That's right the 5 time defending champion  Ireland Irish squad have their first action of the tournament hosting the young fresh Japan Japanese squad. Well Ireland comes in winners of 5 straight and their dominance is just at another level right now. But let's focus on last season as they went 6-4-2 in the Round Robin good for 2nd place in their Group A. In the Medal Round they won 3 straight to capture gold and were let in scoring by Eric Pelletier who had 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points. In net they have the recent SHL Challenge Cup winning Beaujeaux Biscuit who is as good as it gets. Japan went 2-7-3 last season in their first year joining the tournament. They were led by Lightning Jones who had 7 goals and 11 points total in 12 Round Robin games. Managing 2 wins was great for them in their first year and  they hope to improve on that but they are still very young here.

Sim Day 3:

Canada Canada visits the Uk United Kingdom on Day 3 and these two teams were in the same Group A last year when the UK finished 3rd and Canada 4th to both make the Medal Round. Last season these two teams split their 2 games against each other. There are so many good teams in the tournament now that both teams need to get wins early and this will be a great battle. Last year the UK team won Silver as they lost the final game against Ireland. In the Round Robin they were led by Xander Green who had 4 goals, 8 assists in 12 games. Canada barely squeaked into the medal round last season but they lost in the first round to a really strong Austria club. Canada has some great aging players on their way out and really are looking to make a big push for Gold this year. Sophia Bennett led the team last year and she just won the Challenge Cup with the West Kendall Platoon so let's hope her winning swagger rubs off on the rest of the team.

Sim Day 4:

Usa USA at Russia Russia! Last season these two teams were in Group B together and USA went 7-5 to advance to the Medal Round. Russia was very close to making it but fell just short going 6-5-1 to fall just 2 points short of the final spot. The American squad ended up facing Ireland in the first medal round last season and it was just not meant to be. In the 12 game round robin they were led up front by Jason Visser and Louie Garrett who each had 4g and 8 assists. Look out for sharpshooting Teddy Cuddles as well who led them in goals with 7 last season. On the Russian squad they do always make a point of getting young players into their lineup as soon as possible and focus on development. They do have some great vets as well though and last year Oliver König had 7 goals and 13 points total. Vijanupatan Singh was right there with him at 13 points with 6g, 7a. On the blue line they have the hard hitting Ti-Guy Emond to look out for as well.

Sim Day 5:

Tomorrow we are simming 5 total days so this is the final group of games for the day. Let's take a closer look at Latvia Latvia @ Austria Austria. These two teams both won their groups last season as Latvia went 11-1-0 to dominate Group A. In Group B Austria went 9-3-0 making it look easy at times on their way to 1st place in their group and a ticket to the medal round. Both teams managed to win their first games in the medal round as Latvia beat Czechia but then lost to Ireland in Round 2. Austria shutout Canada 2-0 but then lost to their surprise again the UK in Round 2. Austria has some of the biggest stars in the game with Mike Izzy upfront who had 9 goals and 17 points to lead the tournament in scoring last season. Tigole Bitties the defenseman was amazing as well with 5g and 10 apples for 15 points in 12 games. Lokitonov is very deadly as well. Latvia didn't have the huge star players last year but did it more by committee. Herb Robert had 6g and 6 assists for 12 points. Defenseman Kristaps Ball had 11 assists as well. Artom Zhumbayev in goal was lights out for Latvia.

I have highlighted here a couple cool games taking place tomorrow but there are plenty more that I am excited to see how they play out. Let's take a quick look at list of previous tournament winners...will Ireland make it 6 in a row???
