Well that wraps up day 4 of the sim and we saw our first 3 teams eliminated today and 2 teams clinch Medal Round births. It was a great day of action and now we are going to take a look at some of the biggest games of the day. 4 of the 5 games that I highlighted yesterday ended up being 1 goal games so it was very tight. Also tomorrow the final sim of the Round Robin so at the end we will highlight 5 of the biggest upcoming games.

Updated Standings:

Day 16 Highlighted Game:
Uk 5-4 Canada Overtime

These two teams came into the day tied but Canada was sitting on the outside of the Medal Round in the 5th spot while UK was in 4th. This game was very important and both teams came out and played their hearts out. In the end the UK won it on the first goal of the tournament for Reginald MacIntyre as he scored in overtime. The game started out with Canada really coming out strong. They outshot the UK 13-7 in the first period but the UK did score first as Perry Morgan had his first goal of the tourny and Tony Ford had his first assist. Nour Harrak answered on a sweet pass from Robert Phelps on the PP and we were tied 1-1 after 20. In the 2nd the UK came out flying and scored two goals in just 4:03 from TJ Bayley and Xander Green. Woodcroft and Phelps came back with two lightning quick goals to tie this game back up once again now it was 3-3 after 40. In the 3rd Xander Green scored on the PP for the UK and Sophia Bennett was huge for Canada tying the game late in the 3rd to earn Canada at least a point.

Day 17 Highlighted Game:
Usa 2-3 Ireland

Another pair of teams that were tied coming into action on the day is USA and Ireland. This game was one of the best of the tournament so far as both teams played great. Unfortunately for the USA they just couldn't tie it up in the 3rd period despite their best efforts and 16 shots on net. Ireland had a strong first period where Hercules Rockefeller and Donnie Dicks both scored. Charles Walker added one for the Americans. Ireland star dman Jack Tanner scored his 4th of the games in the 2nd for the only goal. It was 3-1 Ireland after 40 minutes and the US just didn't want to roll over and die. Jason Visser slapped one home at 12:40 of the final frame and they had plenty of chances after that to tie it up but Beaujeaux Biscuit slammed the door shut.

Day 18 Highlighted Game:
norway 2-3 Latvia

Latvia got a bit lucky to win this game as they were out-shot 35-26 by one of the tournaments top teams in Norway. But Latvia just had a better scoring touch and a hot goalie on this night as Billy Sorokin had another great effort make 33 saves in the win. Norway did come out strong in the 1st on goals by Christiansen and Konn. Geoff Higgins scored for Latvia as well and it was 2-1 after 20 minutes. Cut to the 2nd period and Latvian first line center Alex Andani scores to make it 2-2 just 12 seconds in. The third period was a thriller as we were locked at 2 and both teams really wanted to win it in regulation. They managed 10 shots each but it was Latvia who got the last laugh as Herb Robert scored his 5th assisted by Blunt and Marius. Both teams struggled on the PP as they went 0/3 and couldn't take advantage of the extra man.

Day 19 Highlighted Game:
Sweden 5-2 Finland

This was a game that Finland was hoping would end up much closer but Sweden kind of took it to them. The final score was accurate as Finland just really didn't play a full 60 minutes here. They were outshot 15-4 in the second period as they seemed to fall asleep after a solid effort in the first. Only Sweden managed to score in the first period though as Dani Forsberg had his 4th. Sweden added 3 goals in a dominating second period on tallies by Söderberg, Fantobens and Tougard. Noro Wozy did score 1 sandwiched in there for Finland. Both teams did score 1 more in the third period as first Finland went up 5-1 on the PP on a great shot by Jonathan Lundberg. Finland got a final goal late to make it 5-2 but that's as close as it got. This was really a strong effort for Sweden. Sebastien Primeau the goalie for the Swedes continues his great play as he posts a .920 save percentage.

Day 20 Highlighted Game:
Austria 2-1 Switzerland

Switzerland has had a much better showing overall this year than last. That being said this Austrian team was a bit of a mismatch for them and the final score did flatter the Swiss. In reality this could have been a much higher scoring game for Austria if it wasn't for some out of this world goaltending from Tibuk Soonika of the Swiss who stopped 41 of 43. Mikhail Lokitonov scored early in the first to make it 1-0 Austria. Switzerland did tie it up in the second period as Sulak O'Hritea scored his 4th as he has been really solid for the Swiss. It was tied 1-1 after 40 but Austria really was the better team. They came out and flexed on the Swiss in the 3rd period outshooting them 15-4 and scoring the game winner off the stick of Yannick Berger assisted by McGavin and Chiclets. Switzerland went 0/4 on the PP which really hurt their chances of stealing 2 points here. Austria also was bad on the PP going 0/2.

Look Ahead To Tomorrow's Games:

Day 21 Highlighted Game: Japan Japan at United Kingdom Uk - Japan is eliminated from Medal Round contention but the UK is still right in the mix and they really need 3 points here against a young Japan team who has only 2 wins in 9 games. The UK currently sits in 5th and only the top 4 advance.

Day 22 Highlighted Game: Canada Canada at Ireland Ireland - Battle of the top two teams in Group A as Ireland is in 1st place and Canada 2nd. These two teams have not wrapped it up yet as even Ireland in 1st is just 4 points up on the UK so anything can happen. This should be a big game to see who's on top of their game heading to the next round.

Day 23 Highlighted Game: Sweden Sweden at Austria Austria - Austria is on fire winning 6 straight and taking over first place in Group B. Sweden has 2 wins in a row themselves and are playing really well with 3 games left to be simmed. They are 5-3-1 and looking to wrap up one of the final 2 group b spots.

Day 24 Highlighted Game: Usa USA at Germany Germany - Massive game here that could make or break a team. Germany is 1 point ahead of the Americans right now as they sit in 3rd place and USA in 4th. The Americans have a game in hand though and that could be big here. This should be a classic!

Day 25 Highlighted Game: norway Norway at Finland Finland - Norway has clinched a spot in Group B thanks to their great 8-1-1 record but their opponent Finland is still in a dog fight for the final Medal Round spot. Finland sits in 5th place right now, 1 point behind Latvia. Latvia has played 1 more game than the Fins.

Final reminder that tomorrow is the last sim of the Round Robin, everyone will finish at 12 games played. Thank you all and have fun!

Obviously it sucks to have our shot at the medal rounds over so early, but proud of our team and excited for our future Russia
