Game 23: Anaheim Outlaws vs. St. Louis Scarecrows

*Minor Penalty to Noah Tedla for Goalie Interference*

On the bench was a fairly disgruntled Anaheim team, with Lallo Selman shaking his head in confusion. "What the fuck is he doing? He can't even score on an empty net!", he says, as the Outlaws prepare to kill the two-minute penalty. With the score being 1-0 in favor of the Scarecrows, the last thing Anaheim wants to do is go down a pair early in the game. While the PP was killed off, it didn't take much longer before St. Louis doubled their lead. Chuck Goody III did cut their lead in half with a goal right before the end of the period, but it didn't get much better from there. Tedla dropped an absolute stinker of a game, with one of his 16 giveaways via intercepted passes immediately resulting in a goal the other way, and a commanding 3-1 lead for St. Louis. The NBC broadcast even managed to pick up an unhappy Martijn Westbroek shouting, "FUUUUUUUUUUUCK", as the momentum picked up late in the first was lost right away. The game ultimately ended 7-3 in favor of St. Louis, which surprised no one considering how the rookie d-man single-handedly made things difficult for Anaheim.

In the locker room, as understanding as his good buddy Lallo could be, he talked to him about some of the countless unforced errors he made. “I thought effectively moving the puck was something you valued? That might’ve been the worst display I’ve seen from a rookie in my entire time play hockey.” Corey Kennedy chimed in, trying to make light of the situation by saying “Maybe he’s got a twin, Toah Nedla or something?”. The whole locker room looks to Kennedy, saying in unison, “Toah Nedla? HUH?”. Captain Seger’s facepalming, the forwards bar Westbroek are trying hide their laughing, and the d-core was beyond in disbelief as everyone is packing their things.

The next game on the schedule was on the road vs. Kelowna. After a quiet first, but a very one-sided 2nd period, the Outlaws were down 3-1 and getting outshot 21-9. With things looking down, the game turned around in the 3rd. After Big Fudge took a 4-minute double minor for high sticking, Tedla found a darting Osbert Whacker in the NZ, and he rifled one home to make it a 1-goal game. Later that period on an OZ faceoff, Westbroek on the puck, and what happens next? A give-and-go from Tedla to Westbroek puts him in a great chance to score. Just like that, the Outlaws are tied and Tedla has 2 primary assists. With no more scoring in the 3rd, both teams headed to their locker rooms preparing for OT. “I told you, that guy playing the other day wasn’t him!”, exclaimed Kennedy, and the rest of the team considered his words to be true.

The Outlaws would lose that game in OT, but the takeaway was that Noah Tedla was on the ice that game. That said, whenever Tedla has a rough game, he’s referred to as “Toah Nedla”, as some of you may have noticed in your S48 SHL mock drafts.
