SHL S48 Game 18 - CAL @ WIN

SHL Game 18 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Mike Izzy @Mike Izzy
Team: Calgary Dragons
Victim: Slip McScruff @Scrufdaddy
Team: Winnipeg Jets
Time: 10:56 of 2nd period
Total possession time in current game: 30:56
Hot po-take-to:
Mike Izzy took this night to select his next target to dump the potato on. He had a quiet physical night until the second period of the game vs the Jets. It appears he was selecting his target based on probability that he'd get retaliation, because 11 minutes into the second period he flattened a certain Slip McScruff. Scruffers is the most disciplined player on the Winnipeg team, but this is also a risky move because he has a relatively high tendency for checking compared to his other team mates. Perhaps Izzy made a miscalculation or perhaps he just wasn't paying attention to a second-line defenseman who he had very little previous interaction with in this game. Or perhaps he was getting fed up with the weird names and wanted to nullify his SHL permission Slip. Either way, Slip McScruffers now has the looming Hot Potato trophy, looking for a way to get rid of it.

SHL Game 18 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Slip McScruff @Scrufdaddy
Team: Winnipeg Jets
Victim: Mike Izzy @Mike Izzy
Team: Calgary Dragons
Time: 14:08 of 3rd period
Total possession time in current game: 23:12
Hot po-take-to:
And we have another revenge story! It seems there's an SHL conspiracy to keep this flaming potato in Mike Izzy's possession. After being hit, Slip had a quiet night of puck possession and passing, no doubt biding his time to return the favor to the WIzzard of Oz. Slip burdened Mike with the potato with 6 minutes left in the game, probably banking on the fact that he can avoid repossession in the few shifts he had left. This was quite the calculated move by McScruff, and just when we thought Izzy had him by the McScruff of the neck. Lets see if Izzy can dump the potato before he's stuck with it for another off-ice period.

SHL Game 18 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Mike Izzy @Mike Izzy
Team: Calgary Dragons
Victim: Lil Manius @Bonk
Team: Winnipeg Jets
Time: 15:28 of 3rd period
Total possession time in current game: 1:20
Hot po-take-to:
And he does! Izzy passed it off again after only 1 minute 20 seconds! It seemed Mike took the repossession very personally, as 21 seconds later he lit the lamp trying to even out the score. This man was fueled by potato hate and he channeled it for a comeback attempt. Considering Lil Manius, the new possessor, was in the first line and had some face-off interaction with Mike, it would seem that Izzy just wanted to get the potato off his back once and for all and chose a familiar face before the game had a chance to end. In hindsight, this was another interesting choice by Mike since Manius had a similar tendency for checking that McScruff had. It seems Mike wants the potato passing to thrive by giving it to known hitters. That, or his respect for players is based on physicality. Who knows, all I know is that this has been quite a game of Hot Potato.

SHL Game 18 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Lil Manius @Bonk
Team: Winnipeg Jets
Victim: Casey Creller @Mook
Team: Calgary Dragons
Time: 17:37 of 3rd period
Total possession time in current game: 2:09
Hot po-take-to:
Hot damn. This potato is being passed around faster than a cat can lick its ass. Lil Manius apparently did NOT want this potato after the game finished. He was noticeably checking the clock as it was ticking away the seconds before the game ended. Within 2 minutes, Manius targeted Casey Creller, likely due to his own night of hitting putting a target on his back. Creller's physical presence tonight has been interesting considering his age as a 10+ year veteran to the SHL and his lower-end strength and checking tendency, but he's been hitting like a motherfucker tonight. Manius probably had enough of watching his team get decked, so targeted Creller to take the shame of the Hot Potato.

SHL Game 18 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Casey Creller @Mook
Team: Calgary Dragons
Victim: N/A
Team: Winnipeg Jets
Time: N/A
Total possession time in current game: 2:23
Hot po-take-to:
It's a good thing the puck can't possess the Hot Potato, because Casey Creller used the rest of the night to block shots with his face, trying to keep his team in the game by refusing to let Winnipeg's shots get to the net. Creller had no luck finding an opportunity to dump the Hot Potato onto someone else, so it looks like the Dragons will carry the potato off the ice once again. Izzy was finally able to get rid of the thing, but the Dragons can't seem to get rid of it. Considering the game that was just had, I'm excited to see how much more this potato can be chucked around between these two teams as we close in on the end of this Calgary - Winnipeg back-to-back.

SHL S48 Game 26 - WIN @ CAL

SHL Game 26 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Casey Creller @Mook
Team: Calgary Dragons
Victim: N/A
Team: Winnipeg Jets
Time: N/A
Total possession time in current game: 1:00:00
Hot po-take-to:
Well, that round of Hot Potato was quite uneventful, especially compared to the previous bout between the Dragons and Jets. Creller took several shots on goal throughout the game, but didn't connect with the net. Creller was also hit 4 times by Winnipeg, who were either rubbing in the fact that they didn't have the potato, discouraging Creller from physical retaliation by targeting him as a team, or both. 2 of those hits were by Lil Manius himself, who most definitely did so as a personal, "fuck you!" I mean, who wouldn't take the opportunity to hit the guy who you slightly humiliated in the previous game? In the end, Calgary walks away from these two games versus Winnipeg with the Hot Potato still looming over one of their players. I personally look forward to a team rally to get this potato passed on to a different team as soon as possible. Perhaps their next game versus Minnesota will be that chance!
