The Halifax Raiders comprehensively dominated the Anchorage Armada, shutting them out 6-0 on the back of a great performance in net from Biz Nasty and a 3 point game from Adam Barron.

FIRST PERIOD

It was fairly obvious that, from the beginning, Halifax would have the upper hand. The Raiders peppered Ian Venables in the Anchorage net for the first seven minutes of the game, but couldn’t get anything in. Anchorage finally registered their first couple of shots, both of which were blocked, 7 minutes in, and they continued to fire on Biz Nasty, who wouldn’t budge. He only had to make 4 saves that period, to go along with a shot from Jake Primeau 8:54 in that hit the post. Halifax continued to dominate the play, and 17:31 in, Halifax struck first blood. Al Kayhall carried the puck into the Anchorage end, passed to Jaakko Jarvinen, got it back, and dished it to Indigo Trevino, who sniped it in to make it 1-0 Halifax. Two minutes later, Karl Krashwagen retrieved his own rebound from a missed shot and capitalized, scoring to make it 2-0. The shots were 7-4 Halifax, as Anchorage failed to get any real offense in the period.

SECOND PERIOD

Halifax’s best period of the season by far, as they tucked FOUR past Ian Venables and Colt Beckett. Anchorage started off on the right foot, controlling the puck and pulling the trigger a couple times, but to no avail. 11 minutes in, and the Raiders scored their third of the game. Halifax shot 5 times before Adam Barron scored, with Darnell Johnson blocking a Haley Knight shot before 4 straight shots missed the net, only for Barron to score after a nice pass from Abel Skinner. And Halifax would score in the same minute after Colt Beckett came in to relieve Venables. The first shot he faced came from Timmo Kyllonen, who after getting a pass from Jarvinen, made no mistake to slot past Beckett. 4-0 Raiders. The next minute, at 13:29, Karl Krashwagen made it 5-0 after a poor pass from Berry Blue was intercepted by Bjornoson Bjornoson, who sauced it to Krashwagen, who got his second of the game. And Halifax would make it 6, after Adam Barron scooped up an Abel Skinner rebound to score his second of the game. It got so bad that after that goal, Beckett was pulled. In a span of 6 minutes and 33 seconds, he let up 3 goals. Shots were 10-9 Halifax, as Anchorage still failed to find a way past Nasty in the net.

THIRD PERIOD

Ian Venables came back into the game late in the second period, and kept a shutout in the third, as the last period came with no real action. Only 8 shots in the period, with 5 going to Halifax, who almost let up a goal when Andrei Petrikov hit the post. However, there was a lot of shot blocking, as Daniel Bischoff, Samuel Michaud, and Berry Blue all threw their bodies on the line to keep one out. Final score: Halifax 6, Anchorage 0.

THREE STARS

1. Adam Barron raiders - 2 goals, 1 assist
2. Karl Krashwagen raiders - 2 goals
3. Indigo Trevino raiders - 1 goal

Utter Domination

Halifax destroyed Anchorage, who must be furiously about how bad they played. That kind of humiliating defeat is inexcusable and the coach will be demanding answers. The Armada will have to change something to avoid this ever happening again. Halifax obviously as the only scoring team got all of the three stars, and they had gotten 3 points out of Adam Barron, who had a great night and got first star. The Raiders had good performances from their key players and down the lineup which is what you want to see. That kind of win is really encouraging and should keep their spirits high for many games to come.
