The Vancouver Whalers finished the season strong with a big push at the end to clinch the conference champions headed into the postseason over the Kelowna Knights. The season had a little back and forth for a while but Vancouver won 10 of their final 11 games which was enough to secure the top slot by 2 points. Vancouver had a lot of chemistry on their lines and had some of the best forwards and defensemen in the league. Interestingly enough looking at the assists leaderboard you can see that four of the top 10 are all from Vancouver. Now I don't know a damn thing about hockey but I would assume that this means there wasn't really one person leading the charge, or a "get the puck to x" kind of mentality. Instead Vancouver's players played together extremely well and were able to elevate each other to success by playing smart.
