(This post was last modified: 06-13-2021, 11:39 AM by SilverCannon.)

On April 13, 2001, the journey began.

Steve Collins was born to an American family in Riga, Latvia. Now, some people may say that it's weird that the last name like Collins was born in Latvia. Well, it was because his parents moved there a year ago because of jobs. So Collins spent the next few years of his life there until his family moved back to the States.

Collins moved back to the United States when he was 5 years old. And back in Latvia, he learned how to play hockey. When he moved back to the United States, he joined his first hockey team in Los Angeles, California. He did pretty well his first couple of years there. But when it got to bantams, that's when his talent really showed.

He joined the LA Jr. Kings in his first year as a bantam and led his league in scoring and helped his team make it to the finals of his league. The game went into overtime and he put the game away by scoring the game-winner on a breakaway. He was named MVP of the tournament. The very next year, he did it again. He sent his team to the final, but this time, he helped the Jr. Kings blow out their opponents. Collins was always finding ways to get his teammates goals, but in the finals, Collins ended up getting a hat trick and was now the talk of the league.

Collins ended up playing for a local junior team in Northern California. He got 50 goals his first year and had a total of 99 points. Unfortunately, his team would lose in the first round of the playoffs and would leave Collins without any hardware his very first year in the league. The very next year, the captain of the team had graduated, and now Collins was the captain. He led his team to another final and would help them win it. Leading the league with 104 points in 72 games, Collins was approached with an opportunity that would change his life.

Collins was approached by the USNTDP (United States National Team Development Program) out of the USHL. The USNTDP has constantly produced tons of SHL level players. He immediately accepted the offer. In 62 games, Collins would get 92 points, with 63 of those points being assists. The USNTDP made it to the Clark Cup Playoffs but would lose out to the Chicago Steel. Collins would spend one more year in the USHL before he decided to play in the NCAA. Collins said that school was always important to him and that he would always try to go to school whenever he could. So that was one of the reasons that he picked to go to Boston College. The next year in the USHL, Collins led the league with 102 points and would finally get that Clark Cup that he was dying to get.

Boston College is one of the best hockey colleges of all time and Collins was ready to bring them a championship again. Unfortunately, he never did get one in his 2 years, but he did win the Hobey Baker Award his Sophomore year. Collins would average about 53 points a season in the 34 game season.  Collins was approached by the SMJHL at 20 years old and he gratefully accepted. In the Prospect Tournament, Collins would get 2 shorthanded goals and is now ready for the Draft. Collins has already been interviewed by a couple of teams and is anxiously waiting to see what team will draft him.

Collins will be still going to Boston College online as he was got permission from the President of the college. Collins is trying to achieve his dream of being a great SHL player and is ready for tonight.
