SHL Analytics

So for the past few months I have been hard at work upgrading my previous analytics app (that some might have seen in January) and adding on other tools and scripts, as well as focusing on making the site easier on the eyes. The work has culminated in the following v0.99 release that I wanted to present to you all that has the majority of the functions that I wanted to include in the initial build. Some tinkering still remains in regards to the underlying data sets, specifically in the historical data where some players seem to have played more games in a season than the maximum number of games in total during the season, which is why this is not version 1.0.

I initially set out to create a portal to make data from the Index more accessible for visualizations without the need for Excel or more advanced programming knowledge. The current version of the app has some of these aspects but the pipeline for the remaining summer and fall will include more of these visualization tools similar to Gapminder's visualizations.

What the current build does include the following:

Draft Class Tracker for TPE, Bank, Activity status etc. This tracker also includes links to the user and player pages,
IIHF Eligibility Tracker that lists all available players for each IIHF nation (disclaimer: some errors exist and I would appreciate being notified of these), as well as Unassigned players,
Position Tracker of active and inactive players in the SHL and SMJHL as well as a distribution of their TPE with class annotations,
Casino Tracker that checks the current standings and how they conform with the set casino lines,
Radar Chart visualization of a player's ratings,
An advanced Stat Card visualization looking at a player's, and their team's, normalized statistics compared to the league average,
The previously created visualization of player similarities using their attributes,
Career statistics for skaters and goalies with data from season 1 (disclaimer: some data are missing on account of the amount of time that has passed),
League Records where you can look at records for both season and career data for skaters and goalies (disclaimer: this is the tool that has the most problems with the historical data mentioned earlier),
Scheduling Tool for the sim team where shedules.csv from FHM can be imported to produce a formatted sim schedule for the entire league based on a couple of user defined settings. This tool works for all leagues, including IIHF and WJC.

I would love to get feedback on the tools available either through here or Discord, but any issues you find in the app itself I would appreciate if you could send those tickets to my Github.

None of this would be possible if it wasn't for the dedicated work of the Historian's Department and @"luketd" who provided me with most of the historical data sets!

I also would like to say that this is one of the bigger steps to get a lot of the stuff Ive been working on off of google sheets and in a way that can be more widely accessible. In terms of both Careers and team history. Then everyone else found out the skill Canadice has and started to steal him from me

Unfortunately it's only a web-based platform right not, with the link in the header of the post. Real app development is so far beyond me...

So seeing the app being showcased by Rich and Luke , I realized that I need to focus on making everything more transparent in the form of loading times and processing updates. Hopefully I will be able to get an update out by the end of next week that has some more of these QoL-upgrades.
