S75 IIHF Finals Recap and Awards!
#1

Hello everyone and welcome to the final recap of the S75 IIHF Tournament. We had some great games in the finals with a few unfamiliar faces.

BRONZE MEDAL GAME

France 2-6 Ireland

Aleksi Kettu started off the scoring in favor of the French, but Marton Diehm tied it up. Luca Pane of France had the last goal of the second period and the last goal of the game for the French. The Irish dominated the second period of play with 5 goals from Derek Martin, Peter Tingle (game winner), Peter Tingle, Marton Diehm again, Mads McBride, and Erik Bergmark. France had 30 shots on goal and only one penalty while Ireland had 37 shots and 3 penalties. Peter Tingle was the player of the game with 1 goal and 2 assists. France fell short of a medal, but has tied their best ever finish in an IIHF Tournament. For the Irish, this was a great bounce back from a few disappointing tournaments, letting them set their sights even higher in the future.

GOLD MEDAL GAME

Canada 1-4 Sweden

Dave Heinrich would take a hooking penalty roughly midway through the first period and Tommi Koivu would convert on it for the Canadians for their only goal of the game. Again a pivotal second period would decide the medal game in this IIHF. M’Baku Oluburi would tie the game before Adelie de Pengu would score the game winner on the powerplay. Jølngütrâädüvich DuBølk would then score late in the second. Lias Ekholm Gunnarsson scored the last goal of the game in the third period to secure the Swedish their gold medal. The shots were 35-19 in favor of the Swedish while the Canadians found themselves in the box more often with 4 to 3. M'Baku Oluburi was the player of the game with a goal and assist. For Sweden, this will be a double gold medal as Norden took the title in the WJC. This was one of the better performances by the Canadians in recent memory and a solid job.

Sad that's only during the round robin and not the entire tournament, I might have been there and St Ark would have won easily.
