S24 SMJHL FANTASY RANKINGS

Between the S24 SMJHL Scouting Book and the Official S25 SHL Draft Rankings and even the S24 SMJHL Draft Redo I feel we were still missing something. If you guessed more rankings than you're in luck, otherwise you might just wanna back out now. As we've seen from the articles above it can be extremely hard to gauge a players value, even more so when evaluating how they'll be in 1 season and beyond, but there's one thing that is for certain and that is stats.

Now obviously writing an article about top 10 goal scorers would be boring, I mean you could just as easily go to the index and look at the lead leaders. So instead I've decided to rank every SMJHL player based on their FANTASY score. I've always been a huge fan of fantasy hockey and I felt this was a great opportunity to make something fun and get my fantasy hockey fix during the NHL off-season.

The SHL fortunately already has a fantasy league in place, so I've used their scoring rubric.
For those unfamiliar with it here is a breakdown of the stats involved and the fantasy worth.
Goals= 4 points
Assists= 2 points
Points= 1 Points
Hits= 0.4 points
Shots Blocked= 1.5 points
Wins(Goalies)= 3
Shutouts(Goalies)=10
Saves(Goalies)=0.15

The addition of hits, and even more so with blocked shots, adds real value to high scoring defensemen, especially those than can hit.

As I may have guessed the high scoring defensemen owns the SHL fantasy format with a ridiculous 7 defensemen in the top 10! Another interesting observation is the low output of goaltenders with the first goalie not making an appearance until #14.
