S29 Championship Week S29
#21

Hi <a href='index.php?showuser=1652' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-14'>Pandar</a>

TASK ONE:

We're halfway through the first overtime period now as we're still looking for a winner here in Toronto! These fans have given it all the had since two nights ago, and they aren't going to quiet down now! Faceoff to the right of Andersson. Flacko wins the draw for the Chiefs against Barbashev and knocks the puck to Palat. Palat with it now. He'll skate it up ice as Flacko is getting into it behind the play with Barbashev. Palat gets to the blue line, sees only blue and dumps the puck in.

Harter collects the loose puck behind the net and fires it up towards center to Barbashev. To Scherbluk. He skates it into the Chiefs zone. Scherbluk shoots AND IT'S TIPPED BY FALK! But that one goes wide of the net.

Scherbluk recovers behind Andersson and tries to shoot again but his shot goes across the face of goal. Barbashev picks it up on the half wall. His shot goes just wide and bounces off the back wall and it rolls IN FRONT OF THE NET! HE SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORES! SCHERBLUK! SCHERBLUK! HE PICKED UP THE PUCK AS IT BOUNCED TO HIM IN FRONT OF THE NET, ANDERSSON WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND, AND THE CHIEFS ARE OUT! BREAK OUT THE BROOMS, THE TORONTO NORTH STARS HAVE COMPLETED THE SWEEP ON HOME ICE! THE TORONTO NORTH STARS ARE MOVING ON TO FACE THE WINNER OF HAMILTON VERSUS WEST KENDALL!

TASK TWO:

Good evening ladies and gentleman! We're coming to you live from the SHL Finals in Hamilton tonight as we take a look at the stats of one of the standout players from the regular season, Dean Colt of the Hamilton Steelhawks!

Colt led the league in assists throughout the course of the regular season with 43, in no doubt aided by his impressive performance in the faceoff circle with a 58.78% success rate on the draw in 1,720 attempts. He also had some extremely impressive physical play when it came to playing without the puck, with 181 hits in the regular season.

Breaking those numbers down, Colt put up assists throughout the regular season at a rate of .86 assists per game, took 34.4 faceoffs per game (again winning almost 60% of those draws) and collided with his opponents for 3.62 hits per game.

So how has he fared in the postseason? Again to do a proper comparison here we'll have to break down his numbers by game, but first let's take a moment to look at his totals. In 12 games Colt has 10 assists - no longer top of the league, but still an impressive tally for sure. He's taken 436 faceoffs in those games, only winning 55.50% of those draws, and he's hit his opponents a whopping 67 times.

Breaking those statistics down once more, Colt has .83 assists per game in the postseason (essentially on pace with his regular season), has taken 36.33 faceoffs per game (slightly more than his regular season workload), and finished 5.5833 hits per game (a huge increase on his regular season totals)

So what does this mean for Colt's postseason? He's shown that the regular season was no fluke and it's looking like he's going to keep this pace up throughout the SHL Finals. Good news for Steelhawks fans - not so good news for Dragons fans.

TASK THREE:

And the puck has dropped here in overtime between the Hamilton Steelhawks and the Toronto North Stars! What better way to end a game seven than some overtime action?

Simons wins the draw and drops the puck back to Zarins. He gives it back to Simons who skates it back up into the North Stars zone. He looks to set up an offensive opportunity but can't, so he just dumps it in and goes off for a line change. Tanner looks to clear it out but LaFlamme picks it up. He tries to make a move but fumbles the puck, and Colt picks it up in the corner. He moves it to Cant. Cant tries to pass it to center, but his effort misses everyone and that's an icing.

Rowe wins the draw against Colt now. He gives the puck to Stinson at the point. Stinson looks, and gives it back to Rowe again. Rowe WITH THE SHOT, KYLRAD TIPS. . .HE SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOREST!!!!!! KYLRAD SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORES!!!!! WHAT A GOAL BY THE NORTH STARS AND THEY'RE GOING ON TO THE CHALLENGE CUP FINALS TO FACE THE CALGARY DRAGONS! THE NORTH STARS ARE MOVING ON! THE NORTH STARS ARE MOVING ON! HISTORY HAS BEEN. . .

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

Kylrad shoots up in his bed, drenched in sweat. That same dream again. He'd been having it every night since that game. Since that fateful moment. He could still hear in his head the announcer's call. "KYLRAD TIPPED IT WIDE! A PERFECT CHANCE FOR THE NORTH STARS, AND HE BLEW IT!" His teammates didn't blame him, but he did. He had the chance to win the game, to win the series, to send the North Stars to the finals - the chance to possibly win the franchise's first ever Challenge Cup.

And he blew it.

TASK FOUR:

This was it. The moment every player dreams of - Clayton's day with the Challenge Cup. What should he do? There were so many options. He could watch a My Little Pony marathon, he could. . .actually you know what that one sounded pretty good. But there was nobody for him to watch it with. Bure was back in Russia, Talo was in Finland, and for some unknown reason Ciarelli was wandering lost in a forest in Greenland.

So what could he do? It was then that Clayton remembered - it was the day of Brony Con! So he hopped on a plane and took the Challenge Cup with him to the well known convention for My Little Pony lovers of all ages. The cup was a hit! Everyone wanted to take pictures with the Challenge Cup winner dressed in his favorite Rainbow Dash costume as he toured the convention center. Naturally his first stop while there was to take a photo with Ashleigh Ball, voice of Rainbow Dash. The two lifted the cup over their heads for the photo, and Clayton couldn't wait to get home to frame it and hang it on his wall - after all, the only thing better than winning the Challenge Cup was getting to meet the real live Rainbow Dash.

Unfortunately, as Clayton flew home, he felt like something was missing. But it wasn't until he was sitting at home watching the newest episode of My Little Pony that he realized - he had no idea where he'd left the Challenge Cup.
