S29 Championship Week S29
#29

Written: Pick any goal scored in the S29 playoffs so far and write the play by play for it. (150 words)

It's been an exciting game of hockey tonight in the city of Toronto, the chiefs have forced an overtime in game 4 of this first round series. The Chiefs are down 0-3 and need to win this game or else their cup run is already over.
The score is 2-2 and we're 10 minutes into the first overtime.

Simon Palat will dump the puck into the Toronto zone to reset play. Harter retreivces the puck and sets up a new attack for the North Stars passing it to Barbashev, who passes it into the neutral zone to Scherbulk. Who crosses the blue line and is looking for an oppertunity. He takes a shot which Adam Falk deflects, but it misses the net. Scherbulk will skate for the puck and retrieves it. He tries to shoot it, but misses the net, on the other side there's Barbashev who picks up the puck and will try to shoot again, but misses this time no falk to try and deflect it. The free puck will be picked up by Scherbulk again. It's almost like these guys are playing tennis.
Scherbulk gets ready for a shot, he skates towards Anderssons right, he shoots. AND SCOOOOOOORES. The puck flies over the glove and gets roofed. Darian Scherbulk scores the overtime winner and shoots the Toronto North Stars into the conference finals. (226 words)

Written: Choose a standout player in the regular season, and write 200 words on how they’ve measured up so far in the playoffs. Must include at least three stats.

When I look at players who stood out this season and our in the playoffs I would have to say Theo Kane stood out the most. The guy had an amazing season. He ended first in the scoring category with 31 goals and a shared 5th in the assists categorie with 36 assists to his name.
He also rocked a plus/minus of 32. Strong defensively and always around to help get his team the advantage.

Now lets take a look at his stats in this years playoff. The Edmonton Blizzard played 13 games in this years playoff before being knocked out. Did Theo Kane keep to his regular season form, being a leader in goals and a point per game player?

With 5 goals and 6 assists which gives him a total of 11 points he just falls 2 points short of being a point per game man. He still puts down some great stats. 5 goals was the second most on the team and a plus/minus of 4 indicates he was playing well defensively. Something to point out is the drop in shooting percetage Kane had. With a 13.42% during the regular season he was a 27th best in the league, but in the playoffs he only managed to score on about 9% of his shots. (9.09%).

So to wrap it all up. Kane put down a fenominal regular season. His playoff was a little less, but he still played great. A small decline in his shot to goal precentage, might have been a game changer, but that's ofcourse always the case. (265 words)

Written: Choose what you think is a pivotal moment in any of the series’ so far, and flip it on it’s head. What happens if one team loses a game seven instead of wins? What happens if one goal isn’t scored, or is? How does the playoffs change, and how does the series change? (200 words.)

After sweeping the Minnesota Chiefs in the first round the North Stars found themselfs playing against the Hamilton Steelhawks a team who have been very strong in the recent years. It was a great series which ended with a game 7, overtime win for the Steelhawks. Could it have gone differnt? Let's have a look.

The cup curse has been haunting Toronto and each year they seem to be getting closer and closer. They have a strong team, but something just keeps getting in the way.

The game started in the hands of the Steelhawks they managed to get 2 goals in the first period and outshot the North Stars. No goals in the second period meant Toronto had to go full comeback if they wanted to win the divisional final and head on to the Challenger Cup final.

They answered with two early goals in the third. A powerplay goal by Johnson 2:25 minutes in followed by a goal from Adam Falk one minute later at 3:32 meant the game was tied and anything could happen.

11:41 minutes into the game and Chester Cunningham scored and so the North Stars with about 8 more minutes on the clock where in the Finals, but a minute later it went wrong when Griffin Simons shot his 10 goal of the playoffs into the goal. This goal meant overtime and a quick OT goal for the Steelhawks.

Two goals to look at in this game. If Simons hadn't scored that goal, Toronto could have gone into the finals and cure their curse and have a shot at the cup, but the goal by Simons would mean the end of the Stars. They didn't even get a shot on net during the overtime, the Steelhawks got them where they wanted and finished it.

Maybe next time Toronto. (307 words)

Written: Your player has won the Challenge Cup! Write 200 words about what he or she does on his or her Cup day. (This applies even to players whose teams didn’t make the playoffs)

The New England Wolfpack have won the Challenge Cup all thanks to their amazing players and staff. It is Raven Silverwing's cup day and he has decided to bring the cup somewhere special to him and the team.

The super wooley sheepfarm. Home of the wooliest and softest sheep and goats of the world. The very same wool that is used in all of the NEW official Jerseys aswell as in their merchandise, including scarfs, mittens and underwear.

Raven starts his day on the farm off by helping around. Making sure the sheep have enough food and water aviable aswell as helping the farmers with any work they need done. Once all the work is done, Raven walks out into the field, carrying the cup and walks to the nearest pack of sheep. He lays down and soon sheep surround him and form a warm soft blanket. ' Winning the cup has been fantastic and a great feeling', he says. 'but let me tell you something, laying here inbetween all these sheep. Has to be the best feeling ever'.

After several hours Raven stands up, his skin looking softer than ever and he walks back to the farm. Time to go home, he looks back at the sheep one more time and leaves. (212 words)
