S29 Championship Week S29
#66

Task 1: 235 words

The clock is set at 3:05 of 1st period, we have a face off in front of Texas goalie Igor Ogorodnikov. Evgeni Karpotsov and Yuri Boyka will face each other. The referee drops the puck and Karpotsov wins the face to Koroviev. Now we see some good work in the offense zone from Edmonton, some nice passes between Velevra, Windsor and Scholz. Karpotsov moves into a good shot position and get the pass from Scholz. He shoots, but his shoot get blocked from Vikingstod. The puck bounces around and Velevra picks it up for the rebound, but one more time the shot is blocked by one of the Renegades defender, this time it was Brumm. No time to take a deep breath, because Scholz retrieves to puck and shoots immediately, but he misses the net, how could he miss it here? Good luck for Edmonton that Windsor retrieved that puck before it crossed the blue line. And one more time Edmonton is playing some great hockey in the Texas zone. Nice passes between the line mates. Windsor passes it to Karpotsov, to Koroviev. Koroviev to Scholz, he shoots and scores. This is the first goal of this year's playoff and it was a beauty. Korviev saw that Scholz was sneaking behind the goal and place himself at the backdoor. A perfect timed pass and Scholz had an wide open goal for his first playoff goal.

Task 2: 232 words

Hamilton Steelhawks number one between the pips was one more time a huge backing for his team. Jakob Tanner carried his team threw the season on his large shoulders. If you play for a team that is so dependent on their first offense line, it is more than nice that you now that you have a guy like Tanner back in your net. He leads among all the goalies in goals against average and save percentage in the league and was third placed goalie in wins. His GAA was 2,166 in 42 season games and his SV% was 0,926. He had to face 1257 shoots against him and only allowed 93 pucks to pass him. All in all it was a very impressive regular season for him.
Now we take a look at his playoff stats so far. In playoffs there is not much room for mistakes and even less if you are a goaltender. And Tanner is doing one more time great work, although his personal stats are slightly declining, but who cares when you stand in the finals. His GAA increased from 2,166 in the regular season to 2,69 in the playoffs, he has received 48 goals so far. Also his SV% dropped a little from 0,926 to 0,908. But he is still second placed with this ratings. As of today he is missing two wins for the great goal.

Task 3: 211 words

Game 7! Hamilton Vs Toronto

"SAVE BY HARTER! the puck is still lose, Clitsome gets on it behind the goal, he bangs it around the boards, Ziepins gets it, he throws it on goal, tipped in front by Simmons!! SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOREEEEEESSS!!!!!
GRIFFIN SIMONS WINS IT, AND SENDS THE HAWKS TO THE FINALS!"

That have been the final moments before Toronto's dreams of their first Challenge Cup get buried. Now they have to wait at least one more season to make the impossible possible. But today we have the force to rewrite the past and help them to change the image of the never winning Toronto North Stars. We will use it and change the last moments of the game.

"Stopped by Tanner, rebound to Laflamme!! Tanner makes an unreal save!!!! and the horn sounds!! OVERTIME!"

But what would be happened when it went like:

"Stopped by Tanner, rebound to Laflamme!! He shoots high and the goal lamp lights up. Laflamme maybe scored the goal which will send Toronto to the finals."

What a revenge this would have been, after they get beaten so many times by the Steelhawks. But what would that mean for the playoffs? Toronto heading into the finals, being one stop away from finishing a long and hard way.

Task 4: 216 words

So what to do with that Challenge Cup when my Cup day is on the line? Hmm, I would put him in a closet and lock it. Because who wants to see this washed up old thing? I think nobody wants that.
No no no no, to be honest, I would be so proud of that thing, that I want to show it everybody. I would start the day with a magnificent breakfast at the bakery just around the corner at my home place. Drinking "coffee" out of the cup, because after the finals I drunk so much alcohol that it would be enough for quite a long time. After breakfast, I would pick up all my buddies and drive with them to the lake. Starting the party of a life time. Lie in the meadow and trying to find out who shines more me or the cup. I guess it would be me. In the evening a big BBQ will be organized and since then the time will be expired without alcohol. And the cup will be returned to its original purpose (Catch basin for the drinks from hops and malt.) Officially, I would then countersink him in the lake, of course alcohol would be the guilty man. Unofficially he is hiding in the cellar.
