TASK ONE: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Pick any goal scored in the S29 playoffs so far and write the play by play for it. (150 words)

He shoots it from the blue line and OOHHH IT BOUNCRS OFF HIS GLOVE AND IN THE NET! Ripperoni the goaltender who is yelling at the defense for not blocking the shot and running too the bench mid defensive shift. You see when someone who is swiss cheese is co plaining you know to trade that scrub mark harter being complete cheese holes everywhere get a new day job!. Pellegrino the goal scorrer smiling ear to ear on the weakest shot he has ever taken just slides right into the net. You saw it here first folks a 90 year old scoring on swiss cheese on live television who would have guessed it!!!

TASK TWO: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Choose a standout player in the regular season, and write 200 words on how they’ve measured up so far in the playoffs. Must include at least three stats.

Okay today I will compare my player to how they were in the regular season to how they were in the playoffs.

Regular season: Absolute trash 10 out of 10 would trade back to the SMJHL for a cheese sandwhich and granola bar that expired 6 years ago. Second overall? How about bust? After he was drafted he just dissapeared like what? No accompilshments what so ever just trash in the garbage can. Quite honestly learn to score more! 26 points for a first/ second liner? Fam retire and quit bringing down your team.

Playoffs: Finally he did something! SSSSIIIIIIIKKKKEEE still trash takes 400 shots can only score like a goal. I guess he did not get the memo of overrated dollar store created player. Your retirement will be thr best thing that has happend to the west kendall platoon. They can finally sign a free agent that will not suck at hockey!!!!! Lol 1 goal really? You had like 6 games played come on bro. Ph yes and that hideous plus minis of like - 3 play defense for once!

Conclusion: retire NOW or be assasinated by bojo the CEO of almost have the cup but I slipped on a bannana peel last 3 seconds of the third period and scored on myself to lose the cup in my hometown DOt NET.

TASK THREE: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Choose what you think is a pivotal moment in any of the series’ so far, and flip it on it’s head. What happens if one team loses a game seven instead of wins? What happens if one goal isn’t scored, or is? How does the playoffs change, and how does the series change? (200 words.)

If they west kendall platoon were able to beat the steel hawks in game 6 they would have won game 7 for sure. Carrying all of the momentum from game 6 and then winning it in game 7. They would end up winning the cup. The literal challenge in the east playoffs are the hamilton steelhawks every season we literally either best them go to the finals or do not have to face them and make to to the finals. We get so close everytime one of these times we will win it I believe in the west kendall platoon hype. We have a million 1000 plus tpe prospects eventually it will payoff one more free agency signing away from just destroying everyone in the league. So literally ban the hamilton steelhawks from the playoffs and the west kendall platoon win the cup Smile so act now please and thank you - everyone who gets trolled by hamilton. Oh yea also lol at the one time winnipeg won a cup and then dissapeared.

TASK FOUR: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Your player has won the Challenge Cup! Write 200 words about what he or she does on his or her Cup day. (This applies even to players whose teams didn’t make the playoffs)

Well I take the cup and do something I guess? Like really what am I suppose to do with a cup like it is a inanimate object. I will take a selfie I guess. Five bucks says if I carry that thing around to be "cool" somebody hiijacks it real quick. I mean my family already have touched thr thing at a charity event so really it is kind of pointless. I mean I could drink stuff out of it but that would for sure gateway to some disease like how old is the cup? 200 years old probably. I am no germophobe but really all this signifies isna team effort. It kind of is a pointless thing. Habe a trophy for a day sit there haha. Nobody really does anything with the cup let's be honest. In conclusion I am a boring person or like this thing would be a burden to carry around the whole day. RIP to anyone who tried their hardest to think of something to do with 20 pound metal brick.

Task 1 - 193 Words

Game 2 – 1st Round Calgary v Seattle.

Lose puck is picked up in the neutral zone by Valterri Bottas, who fires a pass up ice.

Pedersen out of nowhere intercepts the pass in the neutral zone, and hits a steaking Bubba Nuck in the offensive zone. Nuck dangling at the blue line, sends a pass over to Randy Randleman, who winds up for a one timer….

Randleman fires the puck at the net through a screen, but Kaspars Tsizling gives up the body to block the shot.

The puck moves into the corner.. Pedersen retrieves it for the Dragons, works the puck out in front of the net, and fires a wrister….. BLOCKED again by Tsizling..

Randleman this time finds the loose puck and fires a low shot towards the net…

OHHH!!!!!!! Just wide! The puck whips around the boards where Nuck retrieves it, looks for an opening and fires another shot at the net..

BLOCKED AGAIN BY TSIZLING!!!! He is everywhere on this shift…

Puck deflects to Pedersen, who deaks and fires the shot on net…

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!

Pedersen with the first goal of the game at 5:05 of the 1st Period.

Task 2 - 260 Words
Esa Anrikkanen, the first SHL player to break the 2000 TPE threshold, had a career season this year, his 11th season in the SHL. Esa topped the 50 point mark that has eluded him his entire career. Finishing with 53 points with 21 goals on 239 shots for a shooting percentage of 8.79%. Had Esa not had two mind boggling shooting slumps to start the season and to finish the regular season. He may have passed the 60 point plateau. Unfortunately the shooting slump that Esa suffered in the regular season, has carried over into the playoffs. Through 16 games of the playoffs, Esa is shooting an even more mind boggling 4.76%. Finding the back of the net only 3 times on the 34 shots that he has taken. We all know it is tough to score in the playoffs, but shooting slumps of this proportion can only be called an anomaly. The good thing the Dragons can take from Esa’s playoff shooting slump is that they are tied at 2 in the Challenge Cup finals without their best player carrying the team. Hopefully for Dragons fans, Esa can remember the scoring touch that had him in the scoring lead during a large stretch of the middle part of the regular season. However, Esa will continue to make his physical presence known throwing his body all over the ice, continuing his dominate physical presence in the regular season of 212 hits (4 Hits Per Game), with 50 hits thru the first 16 games of the playoffs (3 hits per game).

Task 1: 235 words

The clock is set at 3:05 of 1st period, we have a face off in front of Texas goalie Igor Ogorodnikov. Evgeni Karpotsov and Yuri Boyka will face each other. The referee drops the puck and Karpotsov wins the face to Koroviev. Now we see some good work in the offense zone from Edmonton, some nice passes between Velevra, Windsor and Scholz. Karpotsov moves into a good shot position and get the pass from Scholz. He shoots, but his shoot get blocked from Vikingstod. The puck bounces around and Velevra picks it up for the rebound, but one more time the shot is blocked by one of the Renegades defender, this time it was Brumm. No time to take a deep breath, because Scholz retrieves to puck and shoots immediately, but he misses the net, how could he miss it here? Good luck for Edmonton that Windsor retrieved that puck before it crossed the blue line. And one more time Edmonton is playing some great hockey in the Texas zone. Nice passes between the line mates. Windsor passes it to Karpotsov, to Koroviev. Koroviev to Scholz, he shoots and scores. This is the first goal of this year's playoff and it was a beauty. Korviev saw that Scholz was sneaking behind the goal and place himself at the backdoor. A perfect timed pass and Scholz had an wide open goal for his first playoff goal.

Task 2: 232 words

Hamilton Steelhawks number one between the pips was one more time a huge backing for his team. Jakob Tanner carried his team threw the season on his large shoulders. If you play for a team that is so dependent on their first offense line, it is more than nice that you now that you have a guy like Tanner back in your net. He leads among all the goalies in goals against average and save percentage in the league and was third placed goalie in wins. His GAA was 2,166 in 42 season games and his SV% was 0,926. He had to face 1257 shoots against him and only allowed 93 pucks to pass him. All in all it was a very impressive regular season for him.
Now we take a look at his playoff stats so far. In playoffs there is not much room for mistakes and even less if you are a goaltender. And Tanner is doing one more time great work, although his personal stats are slightly declining, but who cares when you stand in the finals. His GAA increased from 2,166 in the regular season to 2,69 in the playoffs, he has received 48 goals so far. Also his SV% dropped a little from 0,926 to 0,908. But he is still second placed with this ratings. As of today he is missing two wins for the great goal.

Task 3: 211 words

Game 7! Hamilton Vs Toronto

"SAVE BY HARTER! the puck is still lose, Clitsome gets on it behind the goal, he bangs it around the boards, Ziepins gets it, he throws it on goal, tipped in front by Simmons!! SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOREEEEEESSS!!!!!
GRIFFIN SIMONS WINS IT, AND SENDS THE HAWKS TO THE FINALS!"

That have been the final moments before Toronto's dreams of their first Challenge Cup get buried. Now they have to wait at least one more season to make the impossible possible. But today we have the force to rewrite the past and help them to change the image of the never winning Toronto North Stars. We will use it and change the last moments of the game.

"Stopped by Tanner, rebound to Laflamme!! Tanner makes an unreal save!!!! and the horn sounds!! OVERTIME!"

But what would be happened when it went like:

"Stopped by Tanner, rebound to Laflamme!! He shoots high and the goal lamp lights up. Laflamme maybe scored the goal which will send Toronto to the finals."

What a revenge this would have been, after they get beaten so many times by the Steelhawks. But what would that mean for the playoffs? Toronto heading into the finals, being one stop away from finishing a long and hard way.

Task 4: 216 words

So what to do with that Challenge Cup when my Cup day is on the line? Hmm, I would put him in a closet and lock it. Because who wants to see this washed up old thing? I think nobody wants that.
No no no no, to be honest, I would be so proud of that thing, that I want to show it everybody. I would start the day with a magnificent breakfast at the bakery just around the corner at my home place. Drinking "coffee" out of the cup, because after the finals I drunk so much alcohol that it would be enough for quite a long time. After breakfast, I would pick up all my buddies and drive with them to the lake. Starting the party of a life time. Lie in the meadow and trying to find out who shines more me or the cup. I guess it would be me. In the evening a big BBQ will be organized and since then the time will be expired without alcohol. And the cup will be returned to its original purpose (Catch basin for the drinks from hops and malt.) Officially, I would then countersink him in the lake, of course alcohol would be the guilty man. Unofficially he is hiding in the cellar.

Task One:

Challenge Cup Playoffs, Round 1, Game 1: TEX @ EDM

…and the penalty against Vikingstød will give Edmonton an early chance to end the game here in overtime. Boyka will go toe-to-toe with Berger in the circle… and it’s Boyka who wins the draw, and Knight sends the puck deep into the Edmonton zone. Aittokallio comes out to play it, and Velevra will slow things down behind the net. Edmonton are one for two on the powerplay tonight after that Pedro Sarantez goal tied the game at two in the second period.

Texas looks to regroup as Velevra skates it out, and he'll drop it off for Koroviev. Koroviev skating through centre ice now, evades the challenge of Durden as he gains the zone and looks for Berger with the one-timer—they score!! Miles Berger with a bomb from high in the slot, and the Blizzard will take game one after just a minute of overtime!

Berger just wired that one beneath the crossbar, and I don't Ogorodnikov saw it until it was past him. Sarantez sets up in front of the net, and the screen works like a charm. Game one goes to Edmonton!
<div align="right">(184/150 words)</div>

Task Two:

No team scored more goals in the regular season than the Edmonton Blizzard (173), and no player more than Theo Kane (31). Come the post-season, Edmonton’s GPG average dropped from 3.46 to 2.923, and Kane’s from 0.62 to 0.346. This decrease in production from their number one centre is in not the reason that Edmonton stumbled against Calgary, but it is indicative of the Blizzard’s post-season woes. Top scorers Kane and Sarantez scored on 13.42% and 14.29% of their shots in the regular season, respectively, but in the playoffs those numbers dropped to 9.09% and 6.25%. In fact, those with the highest success percentage on shots in the post-season were second liners Nik Scholz (33.33%), Ivan Koroviev (14.29%), and Miles Berger (12.50%), as well as third liners Clayton Goode (33.33%) and Evgeni Karpotstov (15.79%).

The case of Theo Kane is an interesting one, though. He was dominant in the regular season, leading the league with 31 goals and 67 points. In the post-season he scored 5 goals and had 11 points, both of which were bettered by other Edmonton players: Scholz led the way with 6 goals, and mid-season acquisitions Pedro Sarantez and Shawn Velevra were their leading points-scorers with 14 and 12 respectively. The case is made more curious still when searching for a reason for the downturn: he was not hit as often during the post-season (2.077 hits/game) as he was in the regular season (2.58 hits/game); and spent only fractionally more time in the penalty box (1.92 mpg in the post-season; 1.14 in the regular).

“The opposition!” I hear you shout. Well, no. Kane averaged 1.34 points per game in the regular season, and with two goals and six assists in six regular season games against Calgary, he averaged 1.33 points per game against their playoff conquerors. So why did it all go wrong for Kane and co in the playoffs? Fucked if I know. I’m going to blame JayWhy.
<div align="right">(323/200 words)</div>

Task Three:

"…to Mack with the one-timer! They score! Deflected past Aittokallio by Randleman, and the Calgary Dragons are ten minutes away from the Challenge Cup Finals!”

Randy Randleman’s third period goal ended the Blizzard’s playoff run in S29, but elsewhere, in an alternate universe, Jackson Rogers-Tanaka’s sly push on Randleman prevents the forward from getting his stick on the puck; Calgary don’t retake the lead, and Edmonton go on to clinch a dramatic three-game comeback to march into the Challenge Cup Finals.

“…to Mack with the one-timer! And that’s swallowed up by Aittokallio…”

“3… 2… 1… Game seven is going to over-time in Edmonton!”

“…Salmon to Kane on the fly! Couldn’t keep his shot down…”

“…Randleman! Ohhh, he had the game on his stick!”

“…dangles his way over the blue line, Koroviev finds Scholz! They scoooore! Edmonton win it in double overtime!”

In the finals, Edmonton face the Hamilton Steelhawks—a team against whom they were 2-0-0 in the regular season. Carrying the momentum of their dramatic seven-game win against the Dragons, the Blizzard take both games on home ice before sharing the spoils in Hamilton. Leading by three games to one as the teams return to Edmonton, Blizzard take full advantage of their home-ice advantage, and repeat their S28 success, defeating the Steelhawks by four games to one.
<div align="right">(217/200 words)</div>

Task Four:

After their success in this alternate universe, the Blizzard's Ivan Koroviev celebrates by getting black-out drunk and urinating in the Challenge Cup. The story doesn't get out, and never makes the headlines, but the trophy is forever more tainted by Russian urine.

It all starts with post-game champagne, most of which is soaked up by sweaty jerseys as the players douse each other in the locker rooms, but Koro is eager to get fucked up. He greedily sucks the alcohol from the jerseys before the players board the team bus and make their way to the after-game party. En route he polishes off a bottle of vodka, but in suit and tie he still looks dandy as he steps off the bus and makes his way past the cameras and reporters to find the club-sponsored free bar.

The following hours are a blur of shots and selfies, and uncalled for karaoke. After peeing in the cup, Koro is escorted to a taxi and sent home, but nobody checked his wallet to make sure he couldn't bribe the driver to bring him elsewhere. Eight hours later he awakes amidst the naked bodies of three not-so-classy hookers, and stumbles home to Babou, his pet ocelot.

TASK ONE: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Pick any goal scored in the S29 playoffs so far and write the play by play for it. (150 words)

Game one - West Kendall v Hamilton

Both teams have played 60 minutes, and see them tied up at 2-2, with 29 shots each. Its top line versus top line, and the puck is about to drop. Big Z wins the face off back to Bojo, he then cycles it onto Wagner who pushes the puck up to Lloren who gets the puck in deep. West Kendall is on the fore-check hard, however Hamilton is able to retrieve the puck, and cycle it out of the zone. Slappy McDoodle hopping over the boards is able to steal the puck, and head back down the ice. McDoodle throws the puck on net and it is tipped by PEttyfer...... Save! Tanner covers the puck. Big Z wins the faceoff back to Maximova, she forwards it onto Smirnov, Smirnov throws it downlow to Big Z, Big Z takes it behind the net, before throwing it in front to a pinching Maximova..... She one times it ..... GOAAAAAAAAAAAL !!! Maximova wins it for the Platoon in Over TIMEEEEE

TASK TWO: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Choose a standout player in the regular season, and write 200 words on how they’ve measured up so far in the playoffs. Must include at least three stats. ( Goals, assists, Hits)

There was a big arguement over who was West Kendalls top player and power forward was this season, and it was between the feisty Slappy McDoodle, and the veteran Big Z. Big Z finished with 22 goals, an 27 assists, with 80 hits. While Slappy Mcdoodle 16 goals, 25 assists and 223 hits. Its arguable that Slappy McDoodle was the better power forward this season with a respectable 41 points, and the huge hit totals.
Now heading into playoffs, only one player would keep up with the standards the set in the regular season. That player was Big Z, who stood tall, and showed why he was the best player for the Platoon. Big Z put up 2 goals, and 6 assists for 8 points in 6 games, while amassing 15 hits. While Slappy McDoodle only registered 1 lonely assist in the 6 games, and putting up 20 hits. Out of Big Z's 8 points, four of them would come on the powerplay!

I think the pivotal game in the West Kendall, Hamilton series, was game three. Heading into game three the platoon saw themself up 2-0 in the series. After two periods of play, the shots were 19-4 for West Kendall, however the score was 1-1 heading into the third period. The third period would see West Kendall opening the scoring just 2 minutes in. However, 6 minutes later Hamilton would respond fast with 2 goals of their own in less then a minute apart to take the lead 3-2. Hamilton would gain some momentum, for the rest period, and looked comfortable to lock this game up. West Kendall would respond with 2 minutes left in the period to make the game 3-3. Heading into OT the shots were 32-18 for the Platoon, OT would only see a total of 7 shots before the game ended, and final shot of the game came off of Rider Clitsome's stick, to give Hamilton their first win of the series, in a game which they should not have won. If West Kendall would have won this game, they would have been up 3-0 in the series, which may have been the dagger in the heart. However, Hamilton would make the series 2-1, and would end up winning the next 3 games to take the series 4-2.

TASK FOUR: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Your player has won the Challenge Cup! Write 200 words about what he or she does on his or her Cup day. (This applies even to players whose teams didn’t make the playoffs)

My day with the cup would be a busy one, but a meaningful one. After sharing the cup with the team, I would head down to Kelowna and share it with them. I would take it to the Knights facility, and share it with their wonderfull community there. After sometime there, I would hop on a plane and head home to Russia. I would go straight to my parents house and share it with them, they are the reason I am playing hockey, and deserve to be a part of it. Many people have the dream of holding the cup, eating or drinking out of the cup, so I would put on a public event where people could bring down their food items, and make that dream come true! All donations would be made out to charity, to help kids in need play sports! To end off the busy day, I would end down to the beach, setup a beach chair, and drink some old smirnoff vodka out of the cup!

Task One:
If you are just joining us we are tied at 3 all between the Texas Renegades and Edmonton Blizzard in a crucial game 6 that could see Edmonton advance.

The draw is taken in Edmonton’s end with Kinsler winning out against Berger

Unfortunately the faceoff is a rather weak one and the puck ends up in Edmonton possession

Edmonton makes their way up the ice via Chico Salmon

Chico gets a shot off but it missing wide by a mile

Chico manages to pinch in and get his own rebound

Winds up!

Misses again….

The puck bounces funny off the stanchion and falls to none other than Clayton Goode

Who picks his spot, and it is the sweetest of finishes.

Goal Goal Goal GOALLLLLLLLL Goal Goal Goal

Edmonton Scores

Clayton Goode has put Edmonton back in the lead and in so doing has likely shown the Renegades the door in the first round for the 2nd straight year.

(words 152)

Task 2:

Theo Kane was by far the best player on Edmonton during the regular season. He amassed 31 goals and 36 assists for staggering 67 point season. Along with this he managed a team high (by almost double) hit total of 204 hits. Kane proved in the regular season that he is one of the league’s best if not the best all-around player in the entire SHL. So the question then becomes what happened in the playoffs? Kane still managed to get an insane amount of hits, 42 through 13 games, which worked out to 3.2 hits per game. He also managed to put up an admirable 11 points via 5 goals and 6 assists. So while he proved to be both provider and scorer again, and being an all-around team player his team did not manage to help him out when his point per game totals dropped slightly below 1. This just is another instance that illustrates Edmonton having some great talent but not a deep enough team to help these talent win another cup.

(175 words)

Task 3:

Taking a different approach then many when it comes to what point proved pivotal in a series this post-season would be to look at a pivotal point just prior to the post season that had a great effect on the way things shook out in the playoffs this year. The point under review is when the Renegades philosophy seemed to change somewhat, with them trading away a few players that had previously been keystones of the squad. This coupled with changes to the lines saw a team that had already been written out of the playoffs make a late season run and pip the spot right out from under the nose of the Jets.
So what if? What if things hadn’t worked this way and the Jets had managed to squeak their way into a playoff berth? We are all well aware of the easy work they made of the Renegades president trophy winning squad last year, and they very well could have done the same thing this year. This would have meant a completely different bracket and as such completely different games and outcomes. It is not that far of a stretch to say that there may have been a different Western Conference champion if the Renegades had not managed to edge the Jets when it came to getting into the playoffs.

(223 Words)

Task 4:

Johnny Cahill gets a cup day! This is something some around the league have predicted happening but maybe not this soon in the defenseman’s career. Johnny decides to use his cup day like many players in the past who have won to return to his roots. Many across the league are familiar with the story of the orphaned English kid growing up in St. Johns. So it should come as no surprise that Cahill would return to St. Johns with the trophy. This would not be so much an “I AM A CHAMPION” type situation because that is not who Johnny is. Instead the bringing around of the trophy would be to show all those in St. Johns, and especially those of lower privilege, that you can do anything you set your mind to with a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck.

After his trip to the orphanage Cahill would make the customary lap of George street drinking a pint out of the cup from every pub he could get to while revelling in the victory with those hometown friends he has left behind to pursue this great game. The day would then end with a very drunk Cahill passing out next to the cup on a rock ledge overlooking the Atlantic, dreaming of the next time he would win the championship.

Task 1 – 164 words

Round 1, Game 1 – Texas vs Edmonton – Vikingstod has just taken a roughing penalty and the Blizzard will get a power play chance with less than one minute into overtime. Boyka wins the face off back to Knight who shoots in down into the Edmonton zone. Velervra retrives the puck for the Blizzard and skates up ice and finds Koroviev in stride in the neutral zone with a tape to tape pass. Koroviev crosses the blue line into the Renegades zone and skates around Rudd down the left hand board and circles the around the net.

He finds a streaking Berger and hits him with a pass at the top of the right circle. Berger does not hesitate and one-times the shot over the out stretched glove of Ogorodnikov and the Blizzard win Game 1 on the power play just a minute into the extra period as Berger scored his first of the playoffs to give the Blizzard a 4 to 3 overtime win.

Task 2 – 255 words

Hamilton defenseman Cody Black was second in the regular in scoring among defensemen and sixth on the team overall with 3 goals, 24 assists for 27 points. He was a +13 with 104 penalty minutes to go with 135 hits, 68 shots and 69 shot block in just under 24 minutes per game. He also played heavy minutes on both the power play and penalty killing units.

During the playoffs, Black has completely upped his game. In 17 games so far, he has 5 goals, 8 assists for 13 points. This would put him on pace for a 50 game regular season for 15 goals, 24 assists and 39 points. All three of these categories would either equal or blow away his numbers from the regular season. He would come out to be around a +9 on the season and would shave about 40 minutes off of his penalty total to be around 68 minutes. Hits would be down a little bit but his shots and shot blocks would be about his regular season totals. He is also playing about one more minute per game.

This is exactly what you want to see from your cornerstone defenseman in the playoffs. Not only is Black providing leadership on the ice through out performing his regular season in most categories, he is also a leader in the locker room providing guidance through a game 7 conference finals win and through 4 games in the finals, he has his Steelhawks tied 2 games a piece with the Dragons.

Task 3 – 325 words

Instead of Simons winning game 7 of the conference finals for Hamilton over Toronto in overtime, he hits the post and the puck goes to Stinson who lead a 3 on 2 rush with Laflamme and Barbashev. They criss cross at the blue line leaving Laflamme wide open as Stinson finds Barbashev who quickly passes to the wide open Laflamme who buries the puck into the back of the net sending Toronto into the Cup Finals. Toronto hasn’t been to the Cup Finals since they went back to back in Seasons 16 and 17 as they have yet to win one in their history.

They take on a talented Calgary team that won the Cup in season 27 and is riding the momentum of winning a Game 7 in overtime against Edmonton. The first two games in Calgary are close, but the Dragons win both games by the exact same scores of 3 to 2.

Games 3 and 4 are played in Toronto as the North Stars win game 3 by a score of 4 to 2 and then take game 4 as Harter shuts down the potent Dragon offense with a shutout – 3 to 0. Toronto has all the momentum now as they return to Calgary, but the seasoned Dragons whip the North Stars 5 to 1 in Game 5 as they look to wrap things up in Game 6 on the road. However, the Toronto defense plays one heck of a game and Harter makes save after save as the North Stars force a Game 7 with a 2 to 1 win.

In Game 7, the hero for the North Stars is winger Adam Falk with the first two goals of the game and with time running out and the score 2 to 1 in favor of Toronto, Harter has to make a save with one second left in the game off of his shoulder to give Toronto their first Challenge Cup win.

Task 4 – 219 words

My day with the Cup would be pretty simple in terms of taking the Cup and walking around the local children’s hospital and letting as many kids and parents see, touch and take pictures of the Cup to help bring some joy and happiness into their lives as they face a tough battle everyday. Maybe even do something special like having a brunch with a certain amount of kids where they can visit with me and the Cup.

Then I would take the Cup to a local youth hockey rink where I would have a tournament the rest of the day where teams would face off to win the chance to hoist the Cup over their heads as champions. Kids and parents again could take the time to look at the Cup on display and take pictures if they wanted to while the tournament is going on. The winners to also drink something like fruit punch or the good old orange drink you get from McDonald’s out of the Cup.

And once the tournament is over, we will parade the trophy down main street with all of the kid hockey players marching along in the parade and throwing candies and goodies to the crowd while the Cup gets to ride in the parade in a car all by itself.

TASK ONE:

TASK TWO:

Bubba Nuck in his 1st season with the Dragons moved to the blue line and put together a strong year with 33 points, 10 goals, 23 assists including 5 powerplay goals and 12 powerplay points. He also had 86 hits and 61 blocks and a +14 rating, doing a dilligent job as a defender and was a big reason for their success this year. He's been even better in the playoffs though as he stepped up his game bigtime. Already with 16 points in 16 games, 6 goals and 10 assists, a point per game pace from the blue line, nearly half his regular season total in only a fraction of the games with the same +14 rating. He's thrown 35 hits and blocked 15 shots in 16 games. His offense has been a big boost for the Dragons when you consider his 6 goals are just 2 behind team leaders Nicholas Pedersen and Randy Randleman. Nuck has been an absolute beast for the Dragons these playoffs and he's seen an improvement in play over his already great regular season. A true post-season performer, if the Dragons win the cup in S29, it's entirely possible Nuck could be the MVP of the playoffs. [203 words]

TASK THREE:

A pivotal moment in the Dragons S29 playoff run came early in round 2 against the defending champion Edmonton Blizzard. The first 2 games were in Edmonton, where the Blizzard were 20-3-2 in the regular season, virtually un-beatable at home. Calgary dropped game 1 by a scored of 4-3, close game but Edmonton was up 1-0 in the series. Going into game 2, Calgary management knew this was a must win situation, if they went down 0-2 in the series it would be hard to come back against a team as strong as Edmonton. Management made an early change to their system before game 2, increasing their offensive pressure as they knew they must press the play on the road. They won game 2 by a score of 2-1. Series was tied 1-1 heading back to Calgary. Dragons went on to win the next 2 games, 4-0 and 3-1, holding Edmonton to just 2 goals in 3 games as they went up 3-1 in the series. Had the Dragons not won game 2, this could have been an entirely different series. Had Dragons goalie Hunter Wong not stood on his head in games 2,3,4 Calgary may not have beaten Edmonton in the series. Even with the 3-1 lead, Edmonton forced game 7, but Calgary made another clutch change and got a game 7 win on the road. It all comes down to that game 2 adjustment and the play by Hunter Wong. If that does not happen, it's entirely possible Edmonton wins that series. A pivotal moment for sure.

TASK FOUR:

That last time Esa Anrikkanen won the cup, he celebrated by gorging himself on chicken parms, eating them out of the cup until he was in a parm coma. It was fun, but if he's fortunate enough to win the cup again, he will take it to the people. Esa will bring the cup to downtown Calgary and walk the streets with it, taking pictures and allowing all the Dragons fans to touch the cup, drink out of it and just enjoy everything about the experience with the fans. He'll take the cup to the people. He'll go door to door to every season ticket holder in the city and give them a special treat thanking them for their support, giving them time with the cup. The championship is about the team and it's players but it's also about the city and it's fans. Esa will give back to the community on his day with the cup, he won't hide in his mansion and gorge himself by eating parms out of the cup by himself. He's a man of the people, he'll share it with them and enjoy the experience with the city of Calgary. Let's not kid ourselves though, he'll have a parm truck following him on his journey so fans can share the experience of eating chicken parm out of the cup with him. We cannot imagine a more exciting experience for a Dragons fan than to eat parms out of the cup with the Parm King Esa Anrikkanen.

Written: Pick any goal scored in the S29 playoffs so far and write the play by play for it. (150 words)

7. Edmonton Blizzard , Miles Berger 1 (Ivan Koroviev, Shawn Velevra) at 1:00 (PP)

We are here for the start of our first overtime period in Edmonton Alberta. Kinsler wins the opening face off against Theo Kane, he takes it into the Blizzard zone and fires a blistering shot that is easily gloved down by the experienced goaltender; Jakub Aittokallo. Kinsler wins the ensuing faceoff, but Salmon muscles the puck off his stick, Salmon comes into the ‘Gades zone, remember now he did play for the Renegades for quite some time, he shoots….

STOPPED BY OGOR! Rebound comes out to Pedro Sarantez, the Mexican master flys around the zone trying to find an open piece of netting and he shoots into the netting of the glove of Ogo.

Boyka wins the ensuing draw, but in comes Vikingstod and he runs into Karpotsov and he will go to the box for roughing. Ensuing draw, Berger wins the faceoff, puck goes back to the point, Berger picks it up, he shoots..

TASK TWO: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Choose a standout player in the regular season, and write 200 words on how they’ve measured up so far in the playoffs. Must include at least three stats.

Rider Clitsome has been an influential player on and off the ice for the Hamilton Steelhawks. Off the ice he has been noticed as the heart and soul of the Steelhawks, and his contributions to various league activities make him a wanted and loved man around the site. Clitsome had a tremendous season for the Steelhawks as he netted 30 goals and 24 assists good for 54 points this past season. His attitude towards putting the puck in the net has been doubtful, and he has a keen eye to set his teammates up when he needs more points. Going into the playoffs Clitsome will be relied on heavily by the Steelhawks, as he may be leaving at the end of the season looking for a bigger contract and more money from any team. His production will be key as well, as he was one of the most consistent producers on the team with his 54 points, only behind Colt and Simons. However, he also led the team in goals with 34 which is something that he is very proud of. Lastly. Clitsome does not like to get scored on, and he shows that with his beauty +15 rating. Clitsome will be a huge part of the Hawks success this post season.

TASK FOUR: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Your player has won the Challenge Cup! Write 200 words about what he or she does on his or her Cup day. (This applies even to players whose teams didn’t make the playoffs)

TASK ONE: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Pick any goal scored in the S29 playoffs so far and write the play by play for it. (150 words)

Griffin Simons wins the faceoff in the Toronto zone against Andrey Barbasev. He flips it to Rider Clitsome who takes a shot and big save by Mark Harter but he gives up a rebound! It goes to Griffin Simons and he takes a shot, missed the net, he collects his own rebound, where is the Toronto defense? Griffin Simons shoots again and SCOOORES, Griffin Simons ends this game 7 thriller in overtime at 2 minutes and fifty-seven seconds of overtime! This is the 5th straight year the Hamilton Steelhawks has beaten the Toronto North Stars. Shots for the Hamilton Steelhawks 4, shots for the Toronto North Stars 0. Hamilton moves on to face the Calgary Dragons in a rematch of the Season 27 Challenge Cup Finals. Maybe next year the Toronto North Stars will get over the Hamilton Steehawks hump and win their first ever Challenge Cup. Simons will forever be the most hated in Toronto history.

TASK TWO: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Choose a standout player in the regular season, and write 200 words on how they’ve measured up so far in the playoffs. Must include at least three stats.

Griffin Simons has had an amazing regular season with the Hamilton Steelhawks this year. He has scored 25 goals and assisted on 33 goals for a total of 58 points. He also won 57% of his faceoffs which is a massive plus. He also had 5 game winning goals during the regular season. So far in the playoffs he has continued his scoring pace. In 17 games, he has scored 12 goals and assisted on 14 goals for 26 points. He has also won 53% of his faceoffs during the playoffs which is great, not as good as the regular season but as long as you are above 50% you must be doing pretty great in the faceoff dot. He also has 2 game winning goals including a big one against the Toronto North Stars. What is a big difference from the regular season to the playoffs is that Simons finished a +13 in the regular season which was 2nd on the team but now he is 1st on the team with a +16 for the playoffs. How crazy is that he has improved in his own zone to improve that stat. Griffon Simons for Playoff Most Valuable Player!

The Toronto North Stars. That's all that needs to be said to know what I'm talking about if things bounced differently. This team has never won a Challenge Cup in 29 seasons and counting so far. The team is cursed apparently although I don't believe in curses. If they had won Game 7 against the hated rivals in Hamilton maybe Barney Stinson and Pierre-Luc Laflamme don't want out. Maybe some locker room problems don't get aired out being Adam Falk and co. between them and Barney Stinson. Maybe they go on and win the Challenge Cup for the first time in franchise history. Instead here we are talking about what could have been again which seems to be a theme in the off-season for the Toronto North Stars. Can you imagine if the Toronto defense gets the puck out instead of letting Griffon Simons collect his own rebound that missed the net. Maybe Laflamme scores in overtime and he becomes a hero instead of the villain that wants out and that was later traded to the Winnipeg Jets. Maybe Adam Falk scores and he gets mobbed by teammates including Barney Stinson. Maybe Stinson himself scores and he will never call out his teammates and be called scum. We will never know, the what if's are endless. What we won't know is when this famine for the North Stars will end. What if it ends next year?

TASK FOUR: (worth 3 TPE)

Written: Your player has won the Challenge Cup! Write 200 words about what he or she does on his or her Cup day. (This applies even to players whose teams didn’t make the playoffs)

Lukas Berger gets his day with the cup after backstopping the Winnipeg Jets to the Challenge Cup. He took the Cup home to Vienna, Austria. He started the day off with a parade around town as he may be the only Austrian ever to have won the Challenge Cup. Then he took it to the iconic Prater National Park which has the iconic big wheel which of course Berger took it on. Then he took it to the Tiergarden Zoo for all the animals to see because why not! After all that hoopla just took the Cup to his childhood home to spend the rest of he night with it. He's been drinking out of it all day as well has eating from it including his favorite, cereal of any kind. Although, he prefers Capt'n Crunch or French Toast Crunch. Overall it was a day to remember from the Austrian as he plans on winning more Challenge Cups in the future. What he wants most though is a IIHF medal after Team Austria made the medal round for the 1st time in IIHF history. Won day, though, Team Austria will be the top hockey nation in the Simulation Hockey League, one day...
