Griffin Simons wins the faceoff in the Toronto zone against Andrey Barbasev. He flips it to Rider Clitsome who takes a shot and big save by Mark Harter but he gives up a rebound! It goes to Griffin Simons and he takes a shot, missed the net, he collects his own rebound, where is the Toronto defense? Griffin Simons shoots again and SCOOORES, Griffin Simons ends this game 7 thriller in overtime at 2 minutes and fifty-seven seconds of overtime! This is the 5th straight year the Hamilton Steelhawks has beaten the Toronto North Stars. Shots for the Hamilton Steelhawks 4, shots for the Toronto North Stars 0. Hamilton moves on to face the Calgary Dragons in a rematch of the Season 27 Challenge Cup Finals. Maybe next year the Toronto North Stars will get over the Hamilton Steehawks hump and win their first ever Challenge Cup. Simons will forever be the most hated in Toronto history.

TASK TWO: (worth 3 TPE)

Griffin Simons has had an amazing regular season with the Hamilton Steelhawks this year. He has scored 25 goals and assisted on 33 goals for a total of 58 points. He also won 57% of his faceoffs which is a massive plus. He also had 5 game winning goals during the regular season. So far in the playoffs he has continued his scoring pace. In 17 games, he has scored 12 goals and assisted on 14 goals for 26 points. He has also won 53% of his faceoffs during the playoffs which is great, not as good as the regular season but as long as you are above 50% you must be doing pretty great in the faceoff dot. He also has 2 game winning goals including a big one against the Toronto North Stars. What is a big difference from the regular season to the playoffs is that Simons finished a +13 in the regular season which was 2nd on the team but now he is 1st on the team with a +16 for the playoffs. How crazy is that he has improved in his own zone to improve that stat. Griffon Simons for Playoff Most Valuable Player!

The Toronto North Stars. That's all that needs to be said to know what I'm talking about if things bounced differently. This team has never won a Challenge Cup in 29 seasons and counting so far. The team is cursed apparently although I don't believe in curses. If they had won Game 7 against the hated rivals in Hamilton maybe Barney Stinson and Pierre-Luc Laflamme don't want out. Maybe some locker room problems don't get aired out being Adam Falk and co. between them and Barney Stinson. Maybe they go on and win the Challenge Cup for the first time in franchise history. Instead here we are talking about what could have been again which seems to be a theme in the off-season for the Toronto North Stars. Can you imagine if the Toronto defense gets the puck out instead of letting Griffon Simons collect his own rebound that missed the net. Maybe Laflamme scores in overtime and he becomes a hero instead of the villain that wants out and that was later traded to the Winnipeg Jets. Maybe Adam Falk scores and he gets mobbed by teammates including Barney Stinson. Maybe Stinson himself scores and he will never call out his teammates and be called scum. We will never know, the what if's are endless. What we won't know is when this famine for the North Stars will end. What if it ends next year?

TASK FOUR: (worth 3 TPE)

Lukas Berger gets his day with the cup after backstopping the Winnipeg Jets to the Challenge Cup. He took the Cup home to Vienna, Austria. He started the day off with a parade around town as he may be the only Austrian ever to have won the Challenge Cup. Then he took it to the iconic Prater National Park which has the iconic big wheel which of course Berger took it on. Then he took it to the Tiergarden Zoo for all the animals to see because why not! After all that hoopla just took the Cup to his childhood home to spend the rest of he night with it. He's been drinking out of it all day as well has eating from it including his favorite, cereal of any kind. Although, he prefers Capt'n Crunch or French Toast Crunch. Overall it was a day to remember from the Austrian as he plans on winning more Challenge Cups in the future. What he wants most though is a IIHF medal after Team Austria made the medal round for the 1st time in IIHF history. Won day, though, Team Austria will be the top hockey nation in the Simulation Hockey League, one day...
