Thor end of season projection For potential GM's drafting him

Thor end of season projection

Some GM's call drafting in the SMJHL a complete crap shoot. Some very promising players bust, often the best player is as likely to be drafted in the bottom half of the draft as the first half. Many factors make being a GM hard. Today we take a look at what potential GM's can look for in Thor by the end of his Junior hockey career.

Thor's projected stats once maxed out at 350 TPE

Strengths: Scoring, Defense, Puck Handling
Weakness: Checking

Player Attributes

Points Spent: 350
CK = Checking: 40
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 80 (80 spent)
ST = Strength: 40
EN = Endurance: 80 (80 spent)
DU = Durability: 50
PH = Puck Handling: 80 (80 spent)
FO = Face Offs: 40
PA = Passing: 50 (10 Spent)
SC = Scoring: 60 (20 Spent)
DF = Defense: 80 (80 spent)
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

Thor projects to play a very safe and conservative style of hockey. Much like NHL icon Niklas Lidstrom. Thor does not play a physical brand of hockey. He's not one to check others or dish out big hits. When it comes to fighting, he'll likely go his entire career in junior with out a single fight. In terms of strength he's not particularly strong on his feet yet, he's tall and lanky and has a lot of filling out to do. Some describe him as a deer on skates. Also he's not going to be hugely active in the offensive zone. Not likely to pinch and will often stick to safe point shot's through screens in front.

That's a lot of what he can't do. In terms of his game. He projects to be incredibly effective in his own end, with positioning, a good active stick, clogging up lanes and immense hockey IQ in his own end. Should be a very effective defender. In terms of grabbing the puck and moving it up ice Thor projects to end up as one of the fastest and most agile skating blue-liners in Junior hockey. He has a great first step and explosive high end speed. And teams don't need to worry about stone hands, he'll be able to keep the puck as he skates up and control it through the neutral zone, getting him into position for the smart and safe play. Lastly, it looks like Thor will be able to play 30+ minutes per game with out breaking a sweat. He has a work horse style game that coaches can ride through all circumstances. And while not a particular strength Thor should be able to not be a total black hole on offence. He can move the pick a decent amount and his point shot isn't terrible.

So there you have it QM's a complete break down of exactly what you're getting in Thor.

8 more days to the draft.

For the record, I am not a grown a man, I'm a . . . . juvenile man?

I like it!

Good skating, defensive defenseman who can move the puck out of the zone.
