(Is it still double media week?)

If I got any of your player information wrong, I apologize. Worked on this during my study breaks so my brain is mush

Apologies to the tendys, you guys are pretty low because I have no idea how to evaluate you guys. No hard feelings!

13)
G – HYB - Intars Barsou (The_Mazais) Total TPE=165

SK = Skating: 65
DU = Durability: 50
EN = Endurance: 60
SZ = Size: 65
AG = Agility: 60
RB = Rebound Control: 65
SC = Style Control: 65
HS = Hand Speed: 80
RT = Reaction Time: 70
PH = Puck Handling: 60
PS = Penalty Shot: 50

The Latvian netminder is a rounded goaltender with elite hand speed, however he pays for his exceptional hand speed with below average skills in most other areas. Prone to making the first save but giving up big rebounds on the second attempt. However, he is a new prospect and has a long career ahead of him with lots of chance to boost his weak spots.

Pros
Elite hand speed coupled with slightly above average reflexes allows Barsou to make the first save consistently. This sets him up well to trend upwards rapidly as his weaknesses are not particularly glaring.

Cons
Below average across the board once you get past his best attributes. Will need to improve rebound control and agility as quickly as possible in order to be a successful goaltender at the higher levels.

12)
RW (RH) – SNP – Yuri Bakos-Markov (Sirmore) Total TPE = 165

CK = Checking: 40
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 60
ST = Strength: 65
EN = Endurance: 55
DU = Durability: 50
PH = Puck Handling: 60
FO = Face Offs: 40
PA = Passing: 55
SC = Scoring: 70
DF = Defense: 60
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

Bakos-Markov falls victim in his positioning on this list primarily due to the wealth of snipers in the upcoming draft. Expect him to go in the latter stages, however his decent strength and endurance makes him a serviceable option in when playing bottom six minutes. Look for an increased focus on using his strength in future development as that is one natural part of his game that can be an exceptional tool in his career.

Pros
Wicked shot and above average strength allow him to be dangerous in the offensive zone. His strength and balance make him difficult to knock off the puck and he’s always a threat in the offensive zone, particularly down low. Decent defensive capabilities for a sniper help him be relatively versatile in deployment.

Cons
Average skating makes it difficult for Yuri to get open in the offensive end forcing him to protect the puck rather than create space. Average at best passing makes him a one-dimensional threat in the offensive end and puck handling skills are a little on the low end for a sniper role. If he can get his skating up to SMJHL levels and improves his puck control he can be a decent middle six guy in the short term.

11)
G (LH) – HYB – Jordin FourFour Jr. (FourFour) Total TPE = 160

SK = Skating: 60
DU = Durability: 50
EN = Endurance: 50
SZ = Size: 70
AG = Agility: 75
RB = Rebound Control: 70
SC = Style Control: 70
HS = Hand Speed: 74
RT = Reaction Time: 70
PH = Puck Handling: 51
PS = Penalty Shot: 50

FourFour Jr standing at 6’10” 240 lbs is by far the largest player in the draft while coming in at the incredibly young age of 16. As one of several left catching hybrid goalies, the Chicago native will likely go late in the draft because of the abundance of goaltenders in the draft along with the fact that Jordin is one of the newer goalie prospects on the scene. However, he has a very good and has the potential to make some noise as a very effective goaltender when not forced to play big minutes. Maximizes his strengths while not having any particularly crippling weaknesses.

Pros
A big bodied goaltender, FourFour has the size to take away a large portion of the net simply by standing there. Along with his incredible size Jordin boasts excellent agility and hand speed as well as above average rebound control and reaction time enabling him to make the first save and smother the rebound.

Cons
With quite poor endurance, it is doubtful how effective Jordin can be for long stretches of play. Almost more importantly, below average puck handling opens up the possibility of losing control of pucks when under pressure.

10)
G – HYB - Artom Zhumbayev (fever95) Total TPE=175

SK = Skating: 71
DU = Durability: 50
EN = Endurance: 50
SZ = Size: 65
AG = Agility: 68
RB = Rebound Control: 73.5
SC = Style Control: 68
HS = Hand Speed: 76
RT = Reaction Time: 70
PH = Puck Handling: 50
PS = Penalty Shot: 50

The 6’4” Kazakhstan native is a big presence in net, while being the best skater as far as goaltenders go on this list by far. Another goalie with good hand speed and reaction time, doesn’t really dazzle in any aspect of his game. However, he gets the nod as best prospect goaltender because of a longer development history and has shown the work ethic to improve. Will need to better his puck handling and endurance if he wants to make his presence felt in this league.

Pros
History of development, having already logged 20 TPE in development prior to the draft, Artom has shown he has the work ethic to improve. Slightly above average hand speed in combination with decent reflexes and rebound control makes him a respectable option for a team looking for a project in goal.

Cons
The focus on skating is a little mystifying at this level, as that is precious practice time that could have been used in a more critical aspect of the goaltending position. Also, does not use his size effectively and is relatively cumbersome in his movement. These things in combination with a focus on endurance as a tertiary focus can make Artom a good option as an option for a goaltender of the future after some time for seasoning.

9)
LW (LH) – SNP – Maurizio Arrivabene (LB.) Total TPE = 167

CK = Checking: 40
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 70
ST = Strength: 50
EN = Endurance: 60
DU = Durability: 50 (do not add TPE here, injuries are turned off)
PH = Puck Handling: 60
FO = Face Offs: 40
PA = Passing: 45
SC = Scoring: 73
DF = Defense: 60
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

The Italian sniper has a deadly combination of excellent skating and an absolutely wicked shot. However as mentioned before, this draft is flooded with snipers and Arriviabene is not on the same level as some of his contemporaries. If he can find a role on the team and continue to develop his offensive talents with his big body he has a chance to be a dark horse in this draft.

Pros
Very good skater with an elite shot, can use his excellent edge work to create space and opportunities to let his shot fly

Cons
Nothing particularly special in a draft filled with snipers. No defining skills and his big body goes to waste with a noticeable lack of strength on the puck. Needs to get stronger and either balance out his game in order to be more versatile or quickly get much better in creating excellent offense

8)
C (RH) – SNP – Gord McKenzie (OB5) Total TPE = 161

CK = Checking: 40
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 65
ST = Strength: 50
EN = Endurance: 50
DU = Durability: 50
PH = Puck Handling: 65
FO = Face Offs: 45
PA = Passing: 61.5
SC = Scoring: 66.5
DF = Defense: 60
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

Mackenzie is an intriguing prospect as he is incredibly rounded with the potential to immediately fill a role on his team by virtue of his well-rounded build. However the flip side of this is that one of the hallmarks of well-rounded prospects is a generally below average build with no particular strengths. Mackenzie gets the nod for eighth on this list by virtue of how he is built in a manner that can be used by any team to fill a need and because of his position as a lefty centre. However, if he wants to remain as a centre, he must quickly improve significantly to his skill in the faceoff dot.

Pros

Versatile build, can quickly fill a need and is quite defensively responsible for a sniper

Cons
No real strength, is once again a relatively unexciting prospect when filling a sniper role. Must find his identity and develop a strength of his own if he wants to stay in the league. Must also significantly improve in the faceoff dot.

7)
RW (RH) – TWF – Scotty Steele (good_dude_great_hands) TPE = 188

CK = Checking: 41
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 76
ST = Strength: 50
EN = Endurance: 65
DU = Durability: 50
PH = Puck Handling: 63
FO = Face Offs: 40
PA = Passing: 44
SC = Scoring: 60
DF = Defense: 66
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

The Lethbridge native Steele is one of if not the best skater in this draft class. An intriguing prospect with his blazing speed along with above average defensive capabilities he can strip the puck on the backcheck and turn it into quick offense back the other way where his shot helps him create dangerous opportunities in transition. As a two way forward he must develop further defensively so he can play tough shut down minutes against opposition top lines. Needs to get stronger and his passing is very weak for a player hoping to be immediately impactful in the SMJHL

Pros
Elite foot speed, can create space for his shot and backcheck very effectively. Good conditioning which enables him to make a difference all night long. Good puck handling and defensive skills which provide a good base for future development.

Cons
Poor passing skills, needs to improve there as currently he is a one-dimensional threat. Will be more dangerous with an improved pass. Also, must get stronger to protect the puck more effectively in the offensive end and be more effective retrieving the puck in the dirty areas.

6)
LW/RW (RH) – PWF – Sterling Slaughter (LTH) Total TPE = 174

CK = Checking: 70
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 60
ST = Strength: 67
EN = Endurance: 50
DU = Durability: 50
PH = Puck Handling: 45
FO = Face Offs: 40
PA = Passing: 51
SC = Scoring: 60
DF = Defense: 64
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

The first notable Power Forward in the draft, Slaughter lives up to his last name with a physical, old-time-hockey style. With elite checking and strength alongside good speed, Slaughter makes his presence felt on a nightly basis on the forecheck and retrieving the puck in dirty areas which helps him overcome his relative lack of finesse as far as draft value goes. With a dangerous shot and offensive IQ Slaughter has the ability to put the puck in the net consistently. However, he must work on his puck control and hand-eye as he has a habit of losing control of the puck.

Pros
Physical presence, can retrieve the puck and dish it off to more skilled line mates to create offense or get it out of his end. Versatile player who can play effectively on both wings. Heavy shot, decent skating and defensive presence make him a very attractive option in the early rounds.

Cons
A player in his role is not exactly expected to make pretty plays with the puck, however he must get better at controlling it in general so that he does not lose the possession he works so hard to gain. Better passing skills will also help create more opportunities for a team and is important to pay attention to.

5)
RHD – DFD - Niklaus St. Croix (Corco) Total TPE = 185

CK = Checking: 59
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 71
ST = Strength: 66
EN = Endurance: 40
PH = Puck Handling: 55
FO = Face Offs: 40
PA = Passing: 59
SC = Scoring: 41
DF = Defense: 73
PS = Penalty Shot: 42

The first Defensive Defenseman of the SMJHL draft and the first member of my top 5, the Austrian native is extremely dependable in his own end. While he lacks a scoring touch, you don’t expect that from him. An extremely good skater with elite defensive awareness, St Croix drives possession by forcing turnovers: using his elite IQ to take away passing lanes, smart use of his stick to crowd opponents and muscle them off the puck and making the smart first pass to begin the transition on the rush the other way.

Pros
Elite skater, elite hockey sense. Very strong player who brings a physical presence while still possessing an excellent first pass to start the breakout. A steadfast defender who makes a difference every night.

Cons
Very poor endurance, must work on his conditioning as he is a valuable asset when on the ice. He’s unfortunately no help to his team when he’s on the bench.

4)
RW (RH) – SNP – Sophia Bennett (goilers) Total TPE = 194

CK = Checking: 41
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 69
ST = Strength: 61
EN = Endurance: 60.5
DU = Durability: 50
PH = Puck Handling: 62
FO = Face Offs: 40
PA = Passing: 59
SC = Scoring: 69
DF = Defense: 65
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

Almost certainly the riskiest option this draft, Bennett has the potential to be one of the most electrifying players in the league. At 5’8” and 150 pounds, she is a good fifty pounds lighter than her peers in the SMJHL but makes up for it in her sheer skill. However, there is the question of whether she’s skilled enough to avoid significant punishment from a player like Slaughter. With excellent skating, Bennett is able to duck and dodge around opponents with her quite good puck handling helping her deceive opponents to create offensive chances. She possesses an extremely dangerous shot that can be let go with very little notice with one of the best releases in recent memory. While her opponent is worrying about her abilities to create offense on her own, she also possesses a passing game that compared to nearly all her peers is exceptional. To tie all of this together, Bennett is also extremely strong which allows her to accelerate very quickly as well as standing her ground protecting the puck when she needs to.

Pros
Very well rounded player. Always dangerous offensively and can make the opposition pay for any lapse in coverage. Also, a very defensively responsible player defensively, will not sacrifice her own end to cheat up the ice.

Cons
The only point that worries scouts is her size. If Bennett can stay healthy and not get pushed around by her peers, she will be a force in this league in the very short-term.

3)
RW (LH) – SNP – Spitfire (Storm) Total TPE = 190

CK = Checking: 41
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 68
ST = Strength: 42
EN = Endurance: 56
DU = Durability: 50
PH = Puck Handling: 72
FO = Face Offs: 40
PA = Passing: 50
SC = Scoring: 74
DF = Defense: 60
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

Spitfire is your stereotypical pure goal scorer. An extremely skilled skater with absolutely filthy mitts and a rocket of a shot, Spitfire is an instant fix for any team with issues scoring goals. Further adding to his stock is the fact that he breaks the stereotype of the Sniper who does not take care of his own end. He is responsible defensively, but obviously is not as dominant in the defensive end as the offensive zone. Expect him to go early in the first round.

Pros
The best offensive player in this draft, bar none. Absolutely dominant force offensively and if he can be paired with a skilled playmaker and power forward to retrieve dirty pucks for him will be a world beater.

Cons
Not a very strong player, can be easily overpowered. Relies on finesse completely to drive play. Not a very good passer either.

1B)
RHD – OFD – Tomáš Toothsome (Sapiens) Total TPE = 198

CK = Checking: 51
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 65
ST = Strength: 61
EN = Endurance: 62
DU = Durability: 50
PH = Puck Handling: 60
FO = Face Offs: 40
PA = Passing: 60
SC = Scoring: 65
DF = Defense: 65
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

The German defenseman is in my mind the best defensive prospect this draft. Very good skating, defensive capabilities, offensive ability (both scoring and playmaking), puck control and strength in one player is a dream come true. The only spot he could be better is introducing a little more physicality to his game but he contributes every other way so well that it is a very minor price to pay when you have a player as dynamic as Toothsome. In my eyes the first overall pick comes down to positional need.

Pros
Well rounded defenseman with significant offensive touch. No obvious weak points to his game as he is above average in nearly every facet of his game.

Cons
Does not possess a game breaking trait. Not necessarily a bad thing but he contributes consistently at a reliable level without being a game-breaking type of player at this point in his development.

1A)
C (LH) – TWF – Robert Phelps (DrunkenTeddy) Total TPE = 194

CK = Checking: 61
FG = Fighting: 25
DI = Discipline: 62
SK = Skating: 65
ST = Strength: 60
EN = Endurance: 60
DU = Durability: 50
PH = Puck Handling: 60
FO = Face Offs: 60
PA = Passing: 62
SC = Scoring: 49
DF = Defense: 60
PS = Penalty Shot: 40

Everything that can be said about this kid has been said. He’s consistently shown off very good instincts and skills in nearly every part of his game. A Two-Way centre who can win faceoffs, skate with some of the best, play a physical game both laying hits and just muscling players off the puck, display excellent hands, show off excellent playmaking instincts and passing ability and finally contribute reliably with a very good defensive IQ. Doesn’t put the puck in the net as much as you would like from a presumptive first overall pick but he’s still young with lots of time to develop. This kid will make an impact from his first time touching the ice.

Pros
Well-rounded game, no real weaknesses besides a lack of scoring. Excellent skater in particular.

Cons
Needs to work on his goal production, nut makes up with it in his assist totals.
