PGS S45: Game 51 - LBL v ANC
#16

Comment #1: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

This segment will take a look at the Lethrbidge Lions. Finding any good within this game for the Lions is a difficult one but if I had to choose one player that stood out to have a mediocre game, not great, it would have to be Arsene Arsenich. He got himself a goal this game and unfortunately ended up a -2 like most of the team he didn't stop trying to get more witha team leading 5 shots and also throwing 2 hits this game. He was giving it his all for the team to have a chance in this and had their loan goal. The bad was probably the player Sami Karppa who just didnt seem himself today unfortunately, which is unusual for this player only managing to record one shot on net the whole game and getting a -2 on the night in +/-. Finally it sad to say but Jordan Joestar just did not show up to perform today, was he not feeling 100%? Most likely as he played a total of 20 minutes and practicically didn't do anything besides be on the ice for 2 goals against.

Comment #2: All Smiles from the First Star.

In a quick post-game interview with Anchorage forward Eero Niemi we asked him how he felt about earning himself that first star. " I worked hard, and I earned it together with the help of my team". After those quick brief words he walked off to join his teammates in some post-game celebrations. The MVP of this game Niemi played his heart out notching a goal and an assist as well as 6 shots on net with only 16 minutes of icetime. That is unbelievable and he really earned himself that first star with his dominating play versus the Lions who struggled desperately to contain him. Continued play like this from Niemi can see him grow into a dominating force in this league and his future seems extremely bright and I am sure his sniper shots will be giving the Lions nightmares for nights to come, unless they learn how to contain this monster.

Comment #3: Where it all went wrong.

Early in the first Lethbridge was leading the Armada by a score of 1-0 off of a powerplay goal by Arsene Arsenich. Only a few moments later Xena of the Armada would tie the game up at 1.  On a play in the Lions zone Dean Colt III took a shot on JLW who swam and stopped the puck however allowed for the rebound and hungry Armada players were getting ready to tap that baby home. In a panic Sami Karppa iced the puck forcing a faceoff in the Lions zone. This was not the ideal set-up for the Lions as they typically have been struggling in the face off circle. Xena comes out to take the draw vs Cant Eykhil of the Lethbridge Lions. Xena wins the faceoff and dishes the puck to right winger Eero Niemi who then dekes the Lions defense, fakes a shot which causes JLW to bite leaving Xena wide open for a one-timer Eero passes the puck straight to the tape of Xena's stick and that is where the game began for the Armada and where it ended for the Lethbridge Lions.

Game turning point .

It was a tough day for the Lions, but the screws were turned during the second period, already ahead the Armada decided to effectively park the bus while 2-1 up with only six shots by ANC and 8 by Lions, the armada killed the puck and dominated possession during the period and the forth goal by Ricardo Cotalay basically broke the back of the resistance, this came about by a won face off by Xena, who immediately iced the puck to force a second face off, which she won completely demolerlising the lions players and resulting in a quick onslaught of shots by armada players overwhelming junebug and resulting in Ricardo's goal. By the time two more goals had been checked up by armada the game was already well won.
