As @ztevans said, it's not really fair though because VAN had a head start and were able to convince him early to sign without opposition.  New rookies are incredibly impressionable and even if all teams are now allowed to talk to and try to sign, VAN still has the advantage.  There's already some level of attachment and affinity that exists there.  

It's really a tricky situation because it sucks for the player and VAN because he might just have signed there anyways.  But it also sucks for the other teams who never had a chance in the first place.  Since VAN was in the wrong, it makes sense to allow the other teams to proceed and punish VAN through this but it's tricky because it simultaneously punishes the player.  So how does HO balance the player wanting to play in VAN with not giving VAN an advantage because they broke the rules?  

If they just reset, it sets a dangerous precedent.  Why won't teams always just offer early and if it gets voided, then they still have a chance to sign again with the advantage of being the first to have offered.

Maybe there needs to be a fine or something so it discourages GM's from doing this but then reset it so the player can sign in VAN if they choose to.  Yeah VAN has the advantage of offering early but they're also penalized for breaking the rules.  Just an option in order to make sure all parties are set equal.

well thought out. i think a fine would suffice for this - as well as not being able to sign the player.

not that my opinion matters but a reset wouldn't be right here because like you said, it sets a dangerous precedent of allowing teams to offer early (and gives them an advantage since they can re-pitch them and have already made a good impression on the player)

obviously it's an unfortunate situation all around but the rules are pretty clear on it.
