I remember when this happened to me because of a timezone misunderstanding. I didn't get to sign the player either, just the way the rule goes. It's unfortunate but I think everyone should move on cause this really isn't a normal occurence.
Yeah ain't nobody got time for that
Should have hired @Pingy Pingu

The window to grab new rookies and keep them on the site is small and crucial, making them wait or turning their first contract into a shitshow (e.g. this suspension and making them go elsewhere) can make them quit.  What kind of introduction to a league is this?  It should never get to a point where they wait this long.
Big on this. I strongly doubt that HO is always so busy that they can’t possibly approve a player. Interns shouldn’t be the only person able to do it because that seems highly flawed

I'm going to wade into this thread now, because I feel like I have something to say as the legendary S44 Intern and current HO member. And this goes out to everyone who has raised this concern, not just my buddy Left Shark.

Interns aren't the only person able to approve players. We call can (and I will still do it on occasion, because I'm a helpful person who is a Reddit draft survivor). We all offer the intern to let us know if they need an extra hand and one or more of us will gladly step in. I'll own I didn't even know this was an issue going on until well after this shitshow started (I've been busy with work this week, so my time engaging deeply with the forums has been limited). I own I've been passive/reactive in this area, and will try to find ways to build in mental bandwidth to support the new intern more proactively. I support HO's decision on this, while also bringing up the topic of what HO might be able to learn from this to steadily improve in the future.

EDIT: again, we've done a damn good job of approving people the last few seasons, outside this one weird situation. I have to stress that to the mob gathered here.
Imo punishment is fine here coz VAN accidentally broke the rule stuff like that happens. I remember back when Merica/Maxy/HFFO set up the SMJHL intern role that people said the poor intern will only do the dirty work that the SMJHL HO doesn't wanna do.

It's crazy to me that the SMJHL Intern is apparently the only person with the task of approving people... it shouldn't be the sole responsibility of one new person to approve players. All of SMJHL HO should be in charge of that. Let it be the intern's main task but make a deadline like let's say 18 hours. If after 18 hours a person is still not approved someone from SMJHL HO should do the job. My $0.02

I like this 2 cents. Punishment is fine, now what will HO do so there won’t be that big of a delay to approve someone
The biggest takeaway from all of this is that @caltroit_red_flames is lazy
